Awesome stuff! I’m looking forward to seeing what they accomplish as well.

We as the human race need to be getting this stuff done, as we will someday have to leave this rock permanently to survive as a species. It will take a long time and a lot of experimentation. The movie "Interstellar" comes to mind.

Next big advancement in energy production > helium 3. They are getting ready to start harvesting it from the moon, Elon Musk, or his descendants, will make a lot of money from it.

Thats certainly a possibility. Though even if we don't need to leave to survive, we will need to leave to thrive. Earth can support a far larger population than it does now at even at our current technological level with some minor changes in pollution, waste and efficiency. But there is a limit. We'll be far better off developing the skills and technology to colonize space before we reach that limit than trying to do it later out of necessity. Out there is the unlimited space, resources and energy that will allow for a true utopia. We just have to reach it.

Great points, but I was referring to the fact that sometime in the future the sun will devour the planet, or at least close enough to wipe out life here.

Oh, yes, true. Thats like a billion years out though. If we're not off planet by then, then I think we'll have failed as a race and deserve to be extinct.

There are probably failed "experiments" all over the universe. Maybe it's a game played by some other life forms, see which experiments survive. Maybe we are some kind of project. Fun to think about, glad the op posted this, great break from the purely political back and forths. I wonder if the human race will come together more as space exploration becomes more common, as it may remind us just how big this universe is, and how minuscule we are as a human race.
Hopefully humans will gain a new respect for ourselves as a whole.

The irony is... the degenerate "one world = one miscegenated mongrel race" the evil perverted globalists are busy trying to create... is regressing the planet backwards... back to the "days of Noah", "days of Lot" and "Tower of Babel" [three evil societies who God destroyed!] God will not allow earth's evil and perversion to pollute the rest of His universe !!

Kinda odd, you (and others) see the world as regressing, while myself (and others) see the world as progressing. I guess when I learn about how societies were hundreds or thousands of years ago, and compare them to now, I see that, in general, people are more respectful and tolerant of others, and treat others better.
Don't think I'm saying there aren't problems, but overall the average person on the planet has it better. Still a lot of work to do!

    .

A relative was a pioneer NASA scientist at Houston during the Apollo manned moon missions. Many years later I asked him why the manned moon missions stopped. His first answer was "politics"... then he said NASA is now mainly focused on "lower space." He was referring the the Space Shuttle/Space Station.

But for me it was an interesting analogy to how the first landing on the moon symbolized the height of the American empire... and how religious and social mores in the USA and the entire planet have now degenerated and regressed in such a short time. This reminds me of a Bible prophecy that says at the time of the end, "many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased"... which also reminds me of what King Solomon said: "For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increases knowledge increases sorrow."

If the humanoid cannot protect his stunning planet and survive on it it will just take its destructive ,selfish behavior to another. If it cannot survive on this planet...it will not survive on another .........until the humanoid himself makes significant changes to his own behavior. Technology has surpassed human evolution.

It sounds like you think that because not all of us are environmentally responsible, then none of us are environmentally responsible... are we not individuals?

What if............... technology is part of the human evolution? Wouldn't advancements in technology at least in part affect human evolution? For example, if we advance technology to the point where it improves the food supply (more and better food), we would affect the human evolution. It's already happened in the last couple of hundred years. The average human is taller and heavier.
IMO, technology and human evolution are intertwined. It will surpass it when the machines take over and exterminate the pests, I mean, humans.

It certainly is. It changes the environmental pressures that select what genes get passed on, so yeah. It is definitely part of our evolution.

Awesome! I love watching the first stage rocket land itself on the little barge! lol Cool technology!
Do you know what the mission for this flight is? I'm looking forward to the Moon exploration flights. Should be interesting. We haven't been to the moon in a long time, I wonder how much it's changed. Did anyone spray paint "Black lives matter" on the moon yet? (that was a joke)
Seriously though, for people who get into science, this is fun stuff. Elon Musk is one crazy guy! (a good crazy, not ex-girlfriend crazy)

These four are scheduled to hang out at the ISS for a few months, doing science experiments and such.

Its 2021, can we move on from Mars and the Moon already? There is better stuff to explore, like the massive ocean of Europa. Our progress in astronomy is sad.
