For the sake of consistency we must blame this on the Governor, Mayor and the failed policies in that State. You get what you vote for. That has been the argument.

Interestingly Wyoming also has very high rate of crimes such as shoplifting.

Half of that is just because that one state has more people than the entire country of Canada now.

    California has

    1) A host of major ports with good port facilities
    2) Great farmland among many natural resources.
    3) Good weather virtually year around

I said they were moving away because the cost of housing is so high and unaffordable.
This is due to overcrowding. Too many people.

People like you may have trouble understanding this, but some people want more space. They want to be able to have bigger yard space, to see open space all around them, to have less noise, fewer cars on the roads and no traffic congestion. That is another smaller reason some people have moved.
In some of these cities outside California you can still have the best of both worlds, lots of space but still nearby access to the city.

That's why housing prices are quickly going up in these cities.
But they're still not as high as they are in California.

Is anyone honestly having trouble understanding this?

Foreign immigration from other countries has carryover effects on other parts of the country.
The immigrants move from place A to B, and then in response to that people who live in place B move to place C, and the people who were already living in place C suffer for it.

You're being myopic. Do you know what that means?
You're not looking at the bigger overall trends.

Suppose a million people move from place A to B, but only a thousand move from place B to A.
Then you have a stupid thought like "Who cares? People are moving in both directions."

This applies to all sorts of things in life. Cash flow, air pressure, water reservoirs, and of course migration trends of large numbers of people.

I shouldn't even have to explain this. You make me waste my time.

Yes people move from areas where they can't afford to areas they can, not all are from CA nor blue states.

I hope you are capable of seeing the point, and that you understand the meaning of that and how that is relevant to the topic of this thread.

Let me spell it out for you, in case people like you are going to be too difficult: Immigration makes people homeless in Wyoming, in a very indirect way.

    Hope you could follow that.

Or they can just go to San Francisco where you can't be prosecuted if you steal less than $950.

    State law overrides local law….

“The California Constitution allows a county or city to make and enforce within its limits all local, police, sanitary, and other ordinances and regulations that do not conflict with the state’s own general laws”

They are prosecuted as misdemeanors and anything over $950 as felonies.

You're on the right track, but the problem is much worse than that. It's already so bad that what we need to do is convert large, unused tracts of federal government land into "homeless compounds". There are hundreds of square miles of such areas in several states, and probably more in Nevada than anywhere else.

We could convert, or build-from-scratch, large series of 'dormitories', along with 'chow halls', medical facilities, laundries, etc. In essence, these places would be like military bases, but populated with the 'homeless' instead of the Army, Air Force, etc.

People would be welcome to come and stay -- PERMANENTLY -- as long as they like, but once they leave, they would not be allowed to return! This is very important, because in this scenario, as long as they're resident at these compounds, they'd be given free alcohol, free drugs, and whatever else they need (and much of what they want)... but, they would not (NOT) be allowed to leave and go back into cities and infest them all over again.

No mystery in this concept. It would be deliberately set up and paid for by taxpayers to get these people OUT of our cities and towns, and OUT of our lives. They would be able to enjoy lives of hedonism, mindless ruin, and dissipation without spreading their dangerous, toxic, ruinous crap all over the rest of us!

Gypsies took better care of themselves and didn't appear to be riddled with illegal drugs. They made their living scamming the public. The homeless are scamming the government. I like the metaphor, though.

That makes the results even more inexcusable. What you are saying is that dem control combined with abundant resources equals the lowest quality of life for those Dems claim to care the most about.

I have lived here all my life. Years ago, shoplifters tried to conceal their actions. Now, thieves just casually walk out like its no big deal. The merchants aren't even reporting these crimes, so there will be few repeat offenders.

Someone always pays for the crime. Maybe Newsom is starting to realize that it should be the criminal.

Case law on record is case law on record. When city police are given regulations to perform their duties by, that's how they perform their duties. They don't waste their time arresting people they have been told will not be prosecuted.
