Better get to confiscating knives. Then hatchets. Then shovels. Then frying pans, especially the heavy dangerous looking assault frying pans. [not -- :cynic:]

I read that their Bin Program for voluntary surrender of knives a few years backfired. Thieves kept stealing the bins.

    One dead?
That's not even close to an average Monday morning in an American office.

Maybe, just maybe they should have considered no wheels?

What is used to keep mailboxes from being stolen? Maybe it would have worked if they followed that model.

Beyond that, these kind of rules only work on the honest. Criminals and would-be criminals will ALWAYS find a way to fashion a weapon from something.

Why would you steal a box with letters in it. How many mailboxes would you have to steal befor you found anything remotely worth your time? But a big box full of knives would be something worth stealing if you want a bunch of knives.

I am not a criminal so I have no idea how many mailboxes would have to be stolen to make it lucrative to steal live checks, gift cards and credit cards. However, it does seem like that's a quicker method than raiding personal mailboxes. Again, I like my freedom so I don't plan or commit crimes. ;-0

Looks like a nice place to dispose of a murder weapon, after being wiped down of fingerprints of course.

Being the cynic I am, is all that what REALLY came out of that bin, or staged with what's been confiscated by the police over several months? Hell, one in the front is still in the package.

Knives are already banned in England including some butter knives. These must have been smuggled in from Chicago.

Didn't know that. Good point. Enhances my thought. Confiscating knives would be as effective as confiscating firearms.

Actually less effective. There are more knives than guns but we gun owners are working on correcting that imbalance.

I say make them all wear metal mittens so that they cannot grab anything. The government can certain officials remove the locks on the mittens during supervised activity.

Peaceful stabbings - about 90% of those knifed were knifed non-fatally.

And what about all the people that were NOT stabbed by the perp?

The perp is a hero, and was peacefully expressing himself for the most part.
