She doesn't read the newspapers. She has no idea about any organization that supports her and didn't know they were saying bad things about her rivals or the last new justice.
She doesn't get out much, since she says she never met some judges that serve in the same building.
Is she more of a hermit than David Souter?

They asked if Roe and Casey are firm precedent.
I would have next asked about Dred Scott and the Income Tax decision and the NRA.

Why was Leahy talking about Doug Jones since Jones was only in the Senate from 2019 to 2021?

Looks like there's at least 1 GOPPPER Senator who isn't a total sellout to the QAnon crowd (on this topic at least)....

    SNIP
“In my view, the role the Constitution clearly assigns to the Senate is to examine the experience, qualifications, and integrity of the nominee,” Collins said. “It is not to assess whether a nominee reflects the ideology of an individual senator or would rule exactly as an individual senator would want.”

Consistent with her vote on the same candidate last summer.... Depending on Murkowski, seems only Lil Lindsey is likely to go full hypocrite on this vote...

I almost predicted 52-48 before I even knew the nominee. I think it's safe to post that now.

It might still be 53.... Romney seems to have figured out a way to think for himself....

I think if I had to vote I would put her in, but I would make a speech listing my fears of the things she might do to American jurisprudence.

Looks like you were 1 off.... Probably going to be 53-47 based on yesterday's pre-vote

And speaking of insane human beings.....

That is one sick bitch... I sure hope either her primary opponents or, heaven forbid, her opponent in the general paste that nonsense all over her district in Georgia...

    BREAKING NEWS:

Judge Ketanji Brown- Jackson, confirmed to the Supreme Court by the Senate, with three Republicans voting along w/ all the Dems, to confirm.

The three, were Senators Murkowski, Collins, and Romney-- who, interestingly enough, had voted against Judge Jackson, for a lower post.

As a miscellaneous note, these three votes from Republicans, is equal, in number, to the Dems, who voted in support of the Gorsuch nomination.

Only Mitt (of those 3) voted against her for Appeals Court last summer.... The 2 women voted for, along with sock puppet Lindsey, who's knickers are still in a twist his gal didn't get the call....

Congratulations KBJ!! It's been a long time coming... Now we need to keep D Presidents in (and a D Senate) to start replacing the stodgy conservatives with people willing to adjust to the times...

As an interesting aside, I understand Breyer won't actually step down until this calendar is over. I wonder what KBJ will be doing daily until then?? I suppose she cannot be on the appeals court while she is waiting?

This would be a great time for her to join an ANTIFA/BLM riot and burn some federal buildings to the ground....

As I understand it, staying at her current gig, until she is actually promoted, is an option, open to her.

Well, I hope that doesn't prevent Joe and Chuck from getting her replacement lined up in Appeals, so everybody can move forward at the same times... We cannot afford to have 1 open seat with the idiots in the GOP having the ability to delay appointments for no reason...

Maybe another black woman-- so we can see if we can get Conservatives' heads to literally blow up, on camera?

P.S-- Ted Cruz's, is the head I'd most like to see burst, if that isn't too mean of a wish, for the Capitol's cleaning staff: I would anticipate his explosion, to be especially messy.

There's gonna be beard hair everywhere... ICK!!!

Maybe give Lindsey's SC judge the Appeals job?? She was on the short list for SCOTUS, so she's probably qualified.

Would love to watch Lindsey's head explode when he's told he has to vote against his own preferred nominee....

Seeing that she was in the DC Court, not the court of appeals, she will almost surely be replaced by a black person, since-in the minds of many-only blacks can sentence blacks.

I'm glad she doesn't start immediately. Breyer probably heard about 30 cases that he wouldn't be able to vote on. Maybe he can have a victory lap with Roberts assigning him a gem of a majority decision to write at the end. Most justices don't get that.

C'mon man... use the Google that God gave us...

Ketanji Brown Jackson (born Ketanji Onyika Brown; /kəˈtɑːndʒi/ kə-TAHN-jee; September 14, 1970)[1] is an American attorney and jurist who has served as a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit since 2021.

I would respond to the rest of your crappola, but then I'd probably have to get another shower today...

It isn't equal to the other districts because she does not have state courts appealing to her. There is only one level: DC-Supreme. The others have state-DC-Supreme. She is equal to a state judge, not an appeals court judge.

Yes, Biden elevated her and appointed 4 other black women to the Appeals Court last year to make them qualified for the Supreme Court. It's not unusual for Presidents to decide who they want on the Supreme Court and make sure they are qualified by the next vacancy.
I actually appreciate the fact he picked the one Obama appointed to the DC Circuit Court. Picking someone Obama didn't give any job to would be in poor taste.
How many cases did she vote on at the Appeals Court level? Among the 176 active judges at that level she might be in last place.
Bush Sr. picked 2 people Reagan had no use for and look at the gems we got.

One sad thing is that Biden had to waste his only pick. Johnson and Bush Sr. used their second pick for the black justice. Reagan used his first pick for a woman fully confident there would be more.

Breyer retires as the most obscure Justice of the past 50 years. Retiring is the most important thing he did on the bench.
In second place is his being the deciding vote on opposite sides in 2 10 Commandments issues. His loyalty to Cecille B. DeMille outranked his allegiance to the Constitution.

Don't want to pat myself on the back, but I called this a month ago...

    SNIP
U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham did not dwell on the past for very long Wednesday morning when he introduced the South Carolina federal judge who he had long hoped would become the next U.S. Supreme Court justice.

Instead, the Republican lawmaker from South Carolina shared a knowing look with U.S. House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, D-Columbia, and expressed his gratitude that the day had finally come for Judge Michelle Childs to be considered for a seat on the influential D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.
    ENDSNIP

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/passed-over-supreme-court-sc-183309430.html

And my 3rd sentence about Lindsey still applies... At the very least, he's going to watch all his "colleagues" bad mouth his candidate ...... for something TBD
