    Article from The NY Post

Important news for one of the most misunderstood communities that confirm the old say : sex is only "right" when it is done "wrong"
and another confirmation that good mental health is related to a good sex life.

And Murdoch's New York Post ran the story to titillate the audience!

And here are once again obsessing over Rupert Murdoch.

Now that we have your usual knee-jerk reaction out of the way, perhaps you can select one of the many sources for this info and comment on the actual topic.

Just making a fairly obvious observation regarding Murdoch's business model.

And, yes, I do obsess over Murdoch. He has proven to be a very dangerous man. He has turned news into entertainment for morons. In so doing, he has made the world safe for scoundrels and influence peddlers, something he understands full well.

His audience doesn't know any better, and he makes the most of that. All it takes is a little flag waving, some Archie Bunker thinking, and cheap sensation and titillation, and they fall right in line!

What other news organization bribed top government officials. What other news services illegally wiretaps people? What other news service actually went to court to defend its right to decieve its audience? Which other news organization actually tried to recruit candidates to run for US President?

    Oh, and regarding:

    ..... I found exactly ONE!

The "Universities" sound like diploma mills. They are business-oriented.

Sounds like somebody trying to tell their self-centered creepy capitalist grads it is okay to get kinky, they're good people, really...

WTF, what's with all the sex threads lately? The site is called POLITICAL FORUM and unless I'm missing something, this thread has ZERO to do with politics, zero!

I'll only say this. 50 Shades of Grey did wonders for my marriage. But I recommend reading it with your spouse, it's much more of an adventure. :eyepopping:

I'm sensing another example of progressive "academic" rent-seeking....which has to be motivated by something besides just money.....I mean, do people just wake up one morning and innocently decide to extol the virtues of sexual misfits for the sake of it?.....with no underlying agenda?

and....I always ask myself when I read things like this..... would this "study" have been published if major dysfunctions were discovered in the BDSM community?

Call me old fashioned....call me crazy.... but I'm thinking that "something" may be a bit of frog boiling to further blur the lines and remove stigmas attached to the paraphilias....which of course include pedophilia.

"FORWARD to Progressive Utopia!"...where anything and everything goes.....and someone else will pick up the tab for all the hedonistic "enlightenment" ;)

If you read the article the statement is that BDSM should not regarded as paraphilia .

I don't feel that my community carries any stigma , we are very secretive because the subs are usually people with "high profile" (usually women who have many subordinate men in their working environment ) . I also do not feel that we are dysfunctional , yes there are weirdos with disturbing behaviour but this is why we have a community, to keep those people out.
Roleplay is perfectly fine and always occurs inside predefined limits , because you know safety is important.

To be fair i recognise that it is tricky for outsiders to understand how this work but the key is consent , non consensual relations are not regarded as BDSM and we are all very sensitive to report the guilty to the police . Also non consensual relations give no satisfaction at all because they are against the principle of achieving maximum satisfaction while following a very strict set of rules .

My wife found a couple of much better-written stories than 50 Shades. If interested...shoot me a PM.

Boy do I want this study to pan out. I strongly agree that listing BDSM and control games as potentially harmful illnesses in the DSM is a rather false move. However, I find the study, and the abstract, and already just from there, I see the first red flag - about 1300 people, all from online surveys. I don't know what to think about this study now... Although for what it's worth, the study's conclusion does not go anywhere near as far as the OP here:
