Looking at only one side of the road and thinking it means there's no car… That's smart.

I wonder if some people in this thread are being ignorant on purpose or not.

We all knew that steel tariffs would create jobs in the steel industry… That was also what people against the tariffs said. If your opponent thinks the same as you do, don't use those numbers to back up your position. The argument was that many more people would lose jobs because things made from steel would cost more to produce, not that some jobs won't be created.

“Basically, the report finds not surprisingly that the tariffs would increase employment in the steel and the aluminum sectors, but what it shows pretty clearly is that a large number of other workers would lose jobs in the process as higher steel costs ripple through the economy,”

    https://globalnews.ca/news/4258050/tariffs-steel-aluminum-us-jobs-canada/

“We find that the tariffs would indeed have positive impacts on US steel and aluminium producers, but negative impacts on producers who use steel and aluminium, both imported and domestically produced. Those impacts, both positive and negative, would ripple through the economy,”

Is the .org that did the study, which is linked to in the OP, also biased?

The article by Breitbart is the current event title and source.......the source is a crackpot site. Hence, the article is not to be believed as news....their linking to a study is just to give the site and article credibility. Critical thinking is an important asset/skill.

Depends on the circumstance. What happens when there is less available labor as jobs increase and people take them?

No it doesn’t. Increase in price means decrease in demand. Econ 101.

Not always. Those who set the prices, want to make price margins as high as possible. This is why it's often seen in the form of a 'decrease in demand', but other times(especially with stores competing against other stores), it could be seen as getting the most out of their buck. Or if Tariffs do result in higher production and retail cost, then that will be reflected in the price accordingly. It doesn't necessitate a decrease in demand.

So while it's Econ101, there's also various other financial mechanisms that could be in play(especially as it relates to the Trump Administration.)

The report I posted says that they will loose their jobs.

Any tariffs on raw materials require time before they affect those who use those raw materials (manufacturers). That time frame is based on the current supply of materials available that were purchased pre tariff. This is just what happens when tariffs are levied on raw materials.

The OP contains a link to the non-profits domain that has the details of the study. If the study is legit, which it is, then this one time Breitbart is a legit source.

No its not. You understand why American companies don’t produce steel anymore right ?

They cant make it as cheap as foreign companies can. Therefore, their prices, including shipping it here are still lower. So Trump slaps a tariff on their imports, what do you think that is going to do to the price of Steel ?

Go ahead, I’ll wait until your catch up

Read todays USA TODAY about how Dirty Donalds tariffs are causing Element Electronics in Winnsboro S.C to consider closing its assembly plant because of the tariffs on the electronics parts imported from China needed to make their TV's.Or the boat builders in Florida who has seen 100% of their European orders cancelled because of the huge tariffs placed on fiberglass and deck trim parts needed for luxury boats adding $ONE MILLION to the cost of high end boats. They too re being forced to cut staff due to lost business.

The US will survive and be better off for it.

What do you suggest, we leave the unfair tariffs on US exports in place so we don't upset other nations?

See post #32, read it again carefully.....your "point" was addresses and put to bed. Breitbart is not a news source with credibility and is RU propaganda.

The source of this information is a study conducted by a non-profit. Do you have anything else?

The Source is Breitbart, an exposed fake news propaganda website linking to a study for legitimacy. A common shill site tactic.

Breitbart propaganda track record and lack of credibility as believable "news".
