Do you use it? I do. People don't, I'm white, I do; I see people who are white here too who don't. It's 87 degrees right now, that's 31 degrees in Europe.
Good grief you live in the UK. Why would sun block even be an issue? I live in Florida and that's a different story...
I see some of my fellow white people from time to time sun burnt and red when I got out. We can buy 2 strengths I've seen in London/Amsterdam; That's 30 or 50... I buy 30; If I ever went on holiday/vacation to Jamaica as many Londoners do anyway (or even Florida, as you mention)/I see flights to Orlando and Miami; People go to Florida too from UK.. - I'd buy the 50 one, and see how that goes before I try and seek one locally if 50 is no good.
I use it fairly regularly when I'm in the sun. I get a decent tan, so sometimes if I have a good base, I'll skip the sunscreen for hour long outings, but any longer than that, I use the sunscreen. I get darker when I use sunscreen--otherwise I'll get a burn, and peel, and get lighter again. Has nothing to do with temperature. I've gotten sunburn in the cold.
50 isn't much different than 30 (or even 15). Anything above 15 is probably wasteful, IMHO. That said, the real key is to reapply after excessive sweating or swimming.
