So where was the panic then? Why the panic now? Politics anyone?

“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that swine flu infected nearly 61 million people in the United States and caused 12,469 deaths. Worldwide, up to 575,400 people died from pandemic swine flu.

Other than having a reproduction rate about 50% higher and a death rate about 1 or 2 orders of magnitude higher they are about the same I guess. :)

    That's exactly what it is.

This too, will be a boomerang they eat with their faces.

They think they're taking him down, when all they're doing is giving him a chance to shine.

    False.

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...th-rates-are-not-what-they-seem-idUSKBN20Z281

That’s why World Health Organization (WHO) officials - who said last week that 3.4% of the people worldwide confirmed as having been infected with the new coronavirus had died - were careful not to describe that as a mortality rate or death rate.

“In an unfolding epidemic, it can be misleading to look at the naïve estimate of deaths so far divided by cases so far,” said Christl Donnelly, a disease specialist at Oxford University and Imperial College London. “This is due to the delay from the time it takes for individuals to progress from being diagnosed as cases to dying.”

If the government and the citizenry overreact that will not cost any lives, if they under-react it might.

I don't understand why you guys can't do any research.
I didn't say it was 3.4 %. I said it was one to 2 orders of magnitude higher.
That would put it 0.3 % to 3%.
Would you disagree with those numbers?

Yeah you didn't say it was 3.4% you said it was only 3%. There's a giant difference right there.

Did you even bother reading what I snipped from the article?

The most revealing thing about the Covid19 virus....

...is how much leftists struggle with basic math.

Looks like you didn't read the last one either.
I didn't need to respond to your post because I never said the death rate was either 3 or 3.4%.

Whether it's SARS, COVID, H1N1, or you name it, the common seasonal flu went on to kill and hospitalize more US citizens. And yet... the stock market does not crash over the flu each year, and sporting events are not canceled.

It's hard to believe people still don't understand it.
It's because the death rate is one or two orders of magnitude higher than the flu.

Jesus, how many times does this have to be explained to you? Do you think Trump banned travel from Europe (ahem- tried to) because this is the flu? Or because it's NOT the flu? Do you think Italy closed up shop because this is the flu? Or because it's NOT the flu? Do you think Trump is floating the idea of internal travel restrictions because of the flu? Or because this is NOT the flu. Think.

As has been pointed out to you a million times, this is not a flu virus, it's a coronavirus. More infectious, more deadly, no vaccine, no treatment, and no immunity.

    Get it?

If Trump said to play in traffic, I think some of you would do it.

But anyway, dear leader is not comparing this to the flu anymore. We don't ban all travel from Europe over the flu, do we? The market doesn't lose it's **** over the flu, does it? That's because we know what the flu is and what it will do. We're starting to have an idea of what this is and what it will do, thanks to Italy, and it's absolutely terrifying.

No it’s not the flu it’s in the cold family. The swine flu pandemic killed many thousands in America and there was no panic. Why the panic now with a handful of old people with health issues?
    Politics pure and simple.

Is it? The denominator to get that statistic is inflated by only using known cases. Why can’t you grasp that?

All of which is based on the hysteria fomented by leftist. The virus itself is a bad cold just as swine flu was a bad flu but nobody played politics with the swine flu.
