The US is even sending 8000 troops to Kabul to assist in evacuations (ie more refugees to spread terrorism in America).

Every country is closing its embassy’s. No use talking to the Taliban that will never compromise or negotiate in good faith or honestly.

According to reports the Taliban seized US weapons, munitions and military equipment such as armored tanks and military vehicles.
There are even video reports online of the Taliban with weapons they have captured.

Didn't ISIL (ISIS) seize lots of weapons and vehicles under Obama?

Seems like a repeat of the same thing all over again.

All these weapons the terrorists are getting were supplied by the United States.


This is going to be fodder for yet another war in the future.

The Democrat's policies seem to be "we don't want any boots on the ground, so it's easier to just send the governments over there weapons so they can fight them." Except these governments are weak and corrupt, and lots of times the local government forces will just run away and abandon all their supplies and weapons to the Islamic terrorist fighters. (Oh, and don't forget Obama's sending weapons to the "moderate muslim" militias, so they could help topple the Syrian Assad government and supposedly help fight the ISIS muslim militias at the same time, never mind the questions about how much better these muslims actually were than ISIS)

Remember, all the rocket launchers the Taliban had during the Afghanistan War (in 2001 to 2004) were supplied to them by the US in the previous Soviet-Afghan war (1979 to 1989).

 

We would be better off staring a world wide “information” campaign on how China treats the Uyghurs muslims in Xinjiang, a province neighboring China.
China has been mining a long time in Afghanistan, and child labor and sexual abuse is rampant and accepted.
IOW, stir the crazies up against the crazies.

 

Stop arming the govt. Arm The People. If they hand their weapons over to the Taliban, what difference does it make? But maybe they wont.

 

This was a typical fight for a hill, then die from sniper fire defending it. Send in gunships, rinse and repeat. Each generation of politicians has to have a war lest they have to face the country’s disfunction at home. SOS. It time to take 25% of our manpower via the draft to broaden the sense of nationalism.
Why not demand Mexico team up with us and slaughter their cartel buddies. We can hump that for another generation or two.

 

US gun manufacturers would lose a huge customer base if they lost the Mexican cartels. Sad fact.

The number of guns in the hands of Mexican criminals makes up just a tiny fraction of the overall number of American guns sold.
Unlike what you're implying, there would be very little incentive for the gun companies to care about whether criminals in Mexico want their guns.

It's very unfair to try to bring up controversial topics like this on the first page of someone else's thread. It's unfair for anyone to accept what you say because those on the other side can't get into the argument of debating your claim without derailing the original topic.

The deal is that the Taliban can rule as long as they don't plot against the US and allies. Sadly, whatever the Taliban does inside Afghanistan is going to be their business now.

Back in the 1990s, Houston oil men invited the Taliban to Texas where they toured NASA.

I toured NASA in Florida one time. I am not the Taliban nor do I know TX oil men.

 

Other than the fact that my brother was a scientist at NASA Houston at the time and two of my uncles were executives for oil companies [and my niece is a Texas oil geologist]... let's see what I can find online from the 1990s...

From what I've read most foreign leaders coming to the U.S. for the first time ask to tour NASA.

 

My older brother along with several other scientists built [pioneered] the ARES lab [Astromaterials Research and Exploration Science] in the Lunar Receiving Building at NASA Houston. That was the building the Apollo astronauts and lunar samples were first brought when they returned from the moon. The ARES scientists analyzed the lunar samples there beginning with the first manned Apollo moon mission. My brother was the youngest scientist back then [right out of Cal-Tech] and when he retired from NASA he was the last original scientist remaining from the Apollo era. He was a deep space/planetary scientist who also analyzed meteorites and was the curator of NASA's meteorite collection for many years.

Afghanistan is unconquerable as the Soviets before us learned. If we had learned from history we would have pulled out earlier. I applaud Biden for having the bravery to do the unpopular thing. No president wants to be the one to pull out. But pulling out of Afghanistan and focusing on China makes a ton of strategic sense.
