Taliban taking over Afghanistan again

    While I agree, the magnitude of the change we wanted was seriously large. Much of Afghanistan didn't even see itself as belonging to a country. Yet, we wanted them to fight and die for that country.

    We installed Karzai at the start, and there are serious criticisms of that choice and of what he did/didn't do, along with the terrible leadership they have had since then.

    That plus the Taliban, existing economy, ancient "infrastructure", religious differences (as many who were NOT Taliban believed in the importance of having a government based in their religion), etc., etc., is what we knew came with the package.

    I don't believe we can BLAME them for not forsaking all they knew and trusted in order to be a westernized nation in 20 years of foreign military occupation.

    I'd suggest that these are the blunders that build an impossible schedule for nation building.
