No surprise that the party of child predator and rapist Roy Moore also supports marriage to underage children.

David Fowler is the president of Family Action Council of Tennessee, a group that apparently really really doesn't like the Constitutional right of same-sex marriage but loves it some 13 year old girls getting married.

This just continues the moral plummet of the American right-wing, an amoral faction that once liked to pretend to be the "moral compass" of America even as scandal after scandal has peppered their self-righteous cloak of false morality with holes big enough to stare into their very corrupted souls.

It's no wonder that church attendance and religious affiliation continues to decline in America as these sanctimonious pricks show us the deplorable nature of the hate group known as the "Christian" right.

And Trumps "spiritual advisor" yesterday said:
So apparently there are now 11 commandments, but they don't really apply to conservatives.......

Perhaps the bill would have fared better if the age limit had been set at 16?

I heard it failed because it also banned sibling marriages.

Its state law where no one under 16 can get married. 16 and 17 year olds must have parents permission or a court order if the parents arent around.
I would love to see that "loophole" they speak of. My friend got married at 16 and she had to go through all kinds of **** to get a judges OK because her parents were abusive.

I feel that the age of marriage should be the age of contract, which should also be the age of consent. Since all of these differ, I'm not all that supportive of the current system. 18 is a good ballpark, but seems to high for consent. I'd likely go with 16.

Ten years old, no, but the advanced northeastern state of New Hampshire allows 13-year-old girls and 14-year-old boys to marry with the parental consent of both.

The advanced states of Maryland and Hawaii allow marriage at age 15.

The great state of Mississippi requires age 21 unless there is bilateral parental consent, in which case a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy may marry.

The great state of Arizona has no minimum age with approval of a superior court judge and parental consent.

For most states it is age 16 with parental consent. State law defines what is underage under what circumstances and conditions.

The definition of a child is a person who has not yet reached puberty.

Nor does ability to comprehend moral matters, or the honesty in measuring one's own hypocrisy apply to liberals.

By and large, the charge against Trump's moral failures (of that nature) is irrelevant. We are having to choose between a man who had some sexual affairs yet now shows signs of great courage and wisdom in the midst of a nation filled with rabid hyenas --- or to choose a known criminal, traitor, schemer, angry, self-centered female surrounded by asinine useless cowardly lying deceiving democrats. In other words, we had no choice.

In the case of older men and child brides, most people seeing a 40 or 50 year old man and 13 yo girl together assume he is a loving grandpa and she is a obedient child.

She is not going to have a gold wedding band on her ring finger!

Dear lord........That was not a post against Trump, it was a post pointing to the complete and utter folly that is the religious right, and the support they are getting from the political right.

    1. There is no "commandment against having sex with a porn star".
    2. Their "religion" is conservatism, not god.

The hypocrisy of the right and their defense of Trumps moral character is beyond laughable after the what they did to Bill Clinton, and more recently their attack on Hillary as "an enabler" to Bill.

Stop with the "great courage and wisdom". There is no way you believe that. You claim the left "rabid Hyenas" while seemingly ignoring that what you call "TDS" was CREATED by the right and was "Clinton Derangement Syndrome".

FTR, I really don't care that Trump had affairs, thats between him an Melania. I REALLY DON"T. I never cared that Bill Clinton did, thats between him and Hillary. What I do care about is the unbelievable hypocrisy on that specific issue form the right

"Why can 12-year-olds still get married in the United States?
We preach against child-marriage abroad. But thousands of American children are wed annually.

By Fraidy Reiss February 10, 2017
Fraidy Reiss is founder and executive director of Unchained At Last, a nonprofit that helps women and girls escape arranged and forced marriages and works to end child marriage in the United States

While most states set 18 as the minimum marriage age, exceptions in every state allow children younger than 18 to marry, typically with parental consent or judicial approval. How much younger? Laws in 27 states do not specify an age below which a child cannot marry."

What I can glean from your post I very much disagree.
On the other hand, I am not even sure I get you?
If I can find the time, I will respond again to elaborate on the those two statements I just made.
In the meantime, have a good day. Thanks.

This law was killed because they are trying to overturn gay marriage... like that's going to happen.

Well I went and researched Tennessees whole dealyo with this and the idea of setting the legal age to marry in Tennessee to 16 to 18 had bipartisan support.

Then it gets complicated. See several Republicans had concerns about it being with no exceptions. One brought up military exclusions.. Another this.. and another that. Hell the leader himself married his wife when she was under 18.

Many people are pointing out other states allow for usually in special circumstances that many states allow marriage at 16 or even younger due to having zero age restriction at all. With parental consent. Yeah.. Parental consent my arse.

Very few of these marriages are occuring between kids like Romeo and Juliet heh

If there's a baby involved It's not consent it's forced parental will I believe because if they are religious and many are that do this.. They don't want a bastard grandchild if can help it. It's true. Baby out of wedlock is a sin and best avoided I grew up in the deep south I know my people. Maybe they should have taught their daughter or son to keep their britches on

    However.
Alot of these consented marriages are BS with the man being as much as twice as old. Literally.

My own mother was married to a man who was seventeen years her senior at the age of 13. Now that was a long time ago and society still did arranged marriages back then. She also told me that he was very good to her and doted on her but when she was able too at 18 or 19 she filed for divorce. She didn't love him. But the fact she couldn't leave legally of her own free will is crazzzzy. You have to be 18 to retain an attorney haha.

Now let's look at Florida who rapidly in my opinion is becoming a role model for moderate conservative and moderate liberal common sense law making every state could do worse by emulating. On damn near everything... Florida just passed a blanket across the board no exceptions law that the minimum age to obtain a marriage certificate is now 18. In January. Clean, sharp. That's that.

So. Fk the far right baby raper enablers in Tennessee legislature. Stop making excuses. 18. No exceptions.

Way too young. 18 should be a hard National minimum.

Any parent willing to marry their 15 year old kid off should lose custody of that child.

    Great courage? I laughed.

In any case, there were other candidates, so that you had "no choice" is a fallacious argument.

Really? You compare what the masses on the left, as well as the media, the press, and a million big mouth celebrities are doing to Trump to what the right was complaining about with Clinton to be on the same plain? Are you kidding? That is a total cop out for trying to excuse what this ill-mannered, crude, dishonest, perverse, vitriol-consumed nation is heaping upon Trump --- simply because he is an easy target and won’t put up with their b.s. Keep in mind, these anti-trumpers are the same bunch of thugs who cannot contain their hatred and speak violently against conservative speakers on campuses, prolife movements, Christians who dare speak about morals, gun owners, those of us gravely concerned about Islamic terrorism, open borders, illegal alien criminal activity, etc. etc. They hate us all because we do not agree with their own madness.

That is the sick world we all occupy today. Angry. Mean. Egocentric. Wanting nothing to do with God or religion except to mock it. Far different than the Clinton years. So they call us racists, bigots, mysoginists, homophobes, and that is all they got. These are the darlings the media coddles to carry out its own “destroy trump at all costs” crusade.

And, yes, I say Trump surely does show a lot of “courage and wisdom” which you find amusing. I’m not interested in providing reasons for that, because the left never cared what those may be anyway. They are way too busy being mindless zealots looking for lipstick on Trump’s collar and 2 years of Russia collusion b.s. And we are supposed to act like we can’t see through these games by them and the media? This nation is an embarrassment to the world. And if they are not just plain stupid, then they are like the DNC and fellow travelers… evil. But maybe I am wrong. I guess it is the religious right that is the evil one in all this.

Right, that’s the reason church attendance is down. It’s not the coordinated efforts of the left wing over the past 100 years, which you support.

And you can get off your high horse. You share the same ideology as 80s Amsterdam and Weirmar Germany and pedophila was a common fetish in both of these places.
