Blacks in these traditional Black neighborhoods in California have been DEVESTATED by the massive immigration influx from Mexico. Today most of these communities no longer have any Black people. Along with the white working class, the other untold story is that African Americans – the ones who didn't climb the ladder up into a sturdy position in the middle class – were pushed out of the state, happening within a timespan of only about twenty years (maybe 1992-2012 or thereabout).
California Mexican man says: "There were a lot of white and black people here, but they all disappeared" in the Downey and Norwalk area Blacks being pushed out of Oakland (it's pretty much already happened and over, although you can still see a lot of Black homeless people left over from these formerly Black Bay Area neighborhoods)
Very true both whites and blacks are being pushed out for illegal aliens as they all vote the same way
I dont know my stand on Gentrification. Really, all that term means is to invest into a dilapidated eyesore area to attract people with money. But it does shut down affordable housing.
for a town to become a dilapidated eyesore in a "first world country" would mean its been neglected deliberately in order for it to be purchased on the cheap by capitalists, or ALL of the people in the town are morons. which is more likely?
Well that is an interesting view point. Neighborhoods can be dilapitated as crime increases and home owners move out and investors buy up to rent. In my city this happened when a bunch of apartments in a rather posh part of the city went section eight. Murders and muggings are common and once well kept homes are now vacant and boarded up. In MY area that I live in, houses are affordable because homes are small, primarily rented, not well kept and in an area known not only for struggling families but for meth. Really not a bad area to live in and an option for young families that want affordable housing in a somewhat decent area. I dont want values to sky rocket because this is an option for those people who make low income.
