profession? lol nothing in this one at all. religious 'faith'? lol They admit to their establishment of a state religion! lol Got me on this one, I forgot all about hawaii! That is how each state would have written it if you had religious rights. worship? you hav e the right to pray? like they can take that away anyway? This is good, but again it limits it to your mind and only your mind. Ok so I should have said except hawaii, otherwise you will not find one state that came into the union in compliance/accordance with the organic law its the basic constructs of religion. you dont know what the basic constructs of religion are? Turns out hawaii is the only honest 'state' constitution, the rest stripped your right 'to freely exercise your religion' in one way or another.
See your posts prove over and over again a lack of basic comprehension of how usage conveys specific 'meaning'. I said I am agnostic, you said agnostics are atheist, therefore you said by direct inference or iow you implicated (agnostics), me as atheist(s). DUH! lol It was attempted with a strawman fallacy, which proves the real intent is to deceive. If thats the case then your posting this trash is all about political deceit for you nothing more.
I do not claim a lack of belief is a belief. I claim that atheism is a belief, albeit not a religion. Whenever you are presented an idea, there are only three possible outcomes. You believe it to be true. You believe it to be false. You believe the evidence is such you cannot claim true or false. Regardless all three are a belief. Until something can be proven as fact, it then falls under belief. The only true lack of belief come from a lack of knowledge or exposure to such. Atheism is a belief that gods do not exist.
Conforming to the wrong thing is still wrong. I have repeatedly proven that you cannot lack belief. By your one definition, you are not an atheist. By the others we provided you are.
I did every state, but it was maybe 40 years ago, and Hawaii completely skipped my mind, it is the exception, there are no others, the rest stripped your religious rights in violation of organic law, which actually proves the states are antireligious..
I'm with @Kokomojojo on this one. This goes with my saying that common sense isn't. What you consider a decision making process may be different from what others consider such. By asking you to detail it, he is most likely attempting to ensure that he makes his points to what you are claiming, not what he takes the term to mean.
You have failed every attempt, and no one is trolling you. To use your own Mirriam-Webster: The problem comes in that all of those are subjective. While you might believe those descriptors, those are not how we are presenting our position. Plus given that you continue to post the exact opposite of us as we do for your point, would then mean you are trolling as well. You still have an active belief. When one is presented with any idea, religious or otherwise, unless that idea can be proven objective to be true or false, then one automatically develops a belief in the trueness or falseness of that idea, include the possibility of the believe that the evidence does not support either position. This is simple reality. "Lack of belief" is just a colloquial phrase that means that one believes that what the "lack belief" in, is not true, either as false, or as not proven true.
because you claimed I said something I didn't? Lol ok. strawman. I never said any such thing. yes, you are using a strawman fallacy.
except you haven't, as I've shown you. nope. by definition, I am an atheist. I lack belief in a god or gods.
You have failed every attempt, and no one is trolling you From your first article: That is choice in a nutshell. All choices are made, consciously or subconsciously, based upon knowledge and information, which includes one's social environment. I would say that personality also plays a factor. If one is rebellious, then one would likely choose opposite that of society. Belief is (at the risk of sounding redundant) the belief that X is true. Disbelief is the belief that X is false. Uncertainty is the belief that there is not enough evidence to say X is true or false. But it's all belief. We choose what we believe, when we are presented with an idea. We have no choice in the forming of a belief, sans objective evidence that the idea is true or false, only in what that belief is.
you and koko are both trolling me, and I have yet to fail in a single exchange with either ofyou. No, I'm correcting you. The offensive portion of your definition, which confirms you are trolling, is you are intentionally lying about my position. You keep trying to tell me what I believe, when you are in no position to do any such thing. I LACK belief. That is the opposite of belief. lacking belief is not a belief. Just like not playing baseball isn't a sport or hobby.
Belief, spirituality, and religion are all separate things. One can believe in a god or gods, yet not be religious. One can also be spiritual without being religious. We have shown, in this or another thread, where religion can also lack a god. Religion is the structured form of spirituality, with or without a deity. Agnosticism and atheism are not religions. They are beliefs, to be sure, but not religions.
And this is a key here. It has to be a belief in insufficient evidence, because others believe the evidence is sufficient. When presented with evidence for anything, you have to believe it is sufficient or insufficient. Had the argument been presented in that manner, he'd be correct. Having a lack of a positive belief in gods does not mean a lack of belief. He is the one that wants to claim that atheism is not a belief. I'm willing to accept in and of itself the idea that one lacks a belief in whatever. But that still means they believe something else with regards to that matter. Atheism is a belief, the belief that there are no gods.
That has nothing to do with whether or not we form beliefs or make choices. I don't dispute that our subconscious is part and parcel of the decision making process. But we as individuals still make decisions and form beliefs.
Except that I have, as has been repeatedly shown you. You have been repeatedly shown that you cannot possess a lack of belief, and thus you do not fit your definition of atheist.
You have yet to succeed in a single exchange with us. You just believe otherwise. I am saying nothing about your position. You position on whether or not gods exist is yours to determine. I am only pointing out that your position is a belief. Believe what you want: Gods are real, gods are not real, or that there is not enough evidence to say whether they are real or not. That is still a belief. That's reality. No matter what your position, it is based upon belief. First, baseball is a sport and/or hobby whether you play it or not. So your comparison is apples to oranges. Secondly, while indeed a lack of belief is not belief, you do not lack belief. You have been corrected on this repeatedly and thus you have to lie about it. One cannot be exposed to an idea without forming a belief about it. You have a belief. Period. Whether it is the belief that gods do not exist or that there is insufficient evidence to say they do or do not, I don't know for sure. The evidence leans towards the former, but you've made it clear that you don't believe in the existence of gods. All you do is claim that you lack a belief. You do nothing to show how you have a lack that counters my showing how you automatically form a belief about anything you are exposed to. All you are doing is devolving back to colloquialisms, and refusing to accept reality.
Exactly what is inflammatory, irrelevant, or offensive in what I've posted? I've already proven that I am not telling you what your position of belief is, only that it is indeed a belief. The irony being that you do not believe that it is a belief. Whether it is a belief or not is the whole point thus it cannot be irrelevant. And if calling you a lair is inflammatory then you too are trolling and indeed started it since you were the first to accuse others of lying.
as you are aware, I do possess a lack of belief, which is the opposite of belief. I am by definition, an atheist.
