Will this provide closure? How do forum non-believers in the death penalty feel? Should the final surviving perpetrator ever receive prole?

Justice waited 20 years? It should have only waited 20 minutes. There is no way savage murdering animals should live 20 years after the initial conviction, and the appeals system we have seems to be intentionally long and overly complex. Think of how many of the victim's family members have since died without seeing justice fulfilled.

But just think, if this maggot could have lasted until Sanders got elected he could have voted.

For what King did it seems like a pitifully lenient way to die, unjust. But at least he won't kill again.

I may catch some flack for saying this, but one thing I respect about a host of other nations (Saudi Arabia, China, N. Korea, etc) is their willingness to carry out capital punishment without much hand wringing.

For certain crimes where guilt is admitted or undeniable, we should simply terminate the existence of the perpetrator. Some people are undeserving of compassion, some commit such heinous crimes that to grant them human rights on principal is irrational.

But the blacks who gang raped him in prison repeatedly are still alive and well.......and gang raping other poor, young White inmates incarcerated for nonviolent crimes.......

He was given way too much time. They should have executed him right after the trial in a case where it was so cut and dry.

I was driving from Huntsville AL to Austin the following day, June 7, 1998. I had decided to take a scenic route and drove straight thru Jasper TX on my way home. I drove down the very same street that they dragged this guy to his death. I had no idea what had happened till I got back home. I remember it well.

What blows my mind is the driver doing the dragging has life in prison. The two passengers riding in the truck got executed.

I believe in an eye for an eye. He dragged his victim to death then he should be dragged to death as well. If anyone rapes and murders a young girl and buries her alive to die. Then that's what should happen to them. It's not a hard concept to grasp. Perhaps a death penalty objector can explain why that shouldn't happen?

We're not an Old Testament society. Stooping to the level of the offender elevates no one.

While I am not sad this animal is dead, I have become anti-death penalty as I have gotten older. One major reason, the cost to the tax payers. It is far, far more expensive to execute someone in this country then to give them life. It also should be. When our Govt executes a citizen, that citizen should have all the Due Process allowed.

When the case and evidence is so cut and dry, waiting 20yrs is ridiculous. Obviously, you don't execute someone based on 1 person's opinion and very little proof. But terrorists with loads of witnesses with video, why cant that person be put to bed in a month? Someone who murders their spouse or children with DNA evidence and an admission of guilt? Just end these people. The money spent defending appeal after appeal, and keeping them alive for 20+ yrs is insanity.

You should call the Governor of your state and try to get such a policy enacted. These colorful executions should also be held on TV so that the government can recoup the court costs and the cost of encarceration. You’ve come up with another swell idea.

Draconian law is the best law. Make an example of anyone who steps out of line and makes war on law-abiding society. Those three men are among the worst who ever lived.

East Texas has many scenic routes on 96.

We were in the crowd at the courthouse on the sidewalk singing "Good bye, Mr. King," when he was led out in handcuffs after his conviction.

    Bad man, good riddance.

Anytime you get off the interstates and freeways it makes for a much more scenic and pleasant drive. US-190 is very, very scenic compared to I-10.

Just a few hundred miles north of Jasper is Atlanta. Atlanta, TX, a very picturesque and pleasant place to be.

The only 2 times I've been to Texas were at the Hou and Dal airports, so I dont know anything about the fine state of Texas..

I messed with Texas, and now paying the price..

I'm not from Texas, just love the state. If you catch Nocona just right you can see a ceremonial cattle drive with hundreds of cattle -- not tens of thousands of cattle like the old days but still quite a site going down Main St.

There's nothing to see at big airports -- they're just about like being in a hospital.
