The Atlantic Calls Out ‘Anxious’ Liberals Who ‘Can’t Quit Lockdown’ — Progressives Have ‘Veered Away

A recent article in The Atlantic calls out liberals for continuing to adopt excessive Coronavirus restrictions, despite CDC guidance, as “an expression of political identity.”

The essay, published Wednesday and titled “The Liberals Who Can’t Quit Lockdown,” begins with staff writer Emma Green stating that “progressive communities” have had some of the “fiercest battles” over COVID-19 policies, with some liberal policy makers having “left scientific evidence behind.”

Addressing those “lurking” liberals who “aren’t quite ready to let go of pandemic restrictions,” Green states that, for them, “diligence against COVID-19 remains an expression of political identity—even when that means overestimating the disease’s risks or setting limits far more strict than what public-health guidelines permit.”

A very interesting long article about liberals inability to let it go. The left is abandoning science. They want to use the disease to exert control over others lives more than they want the crisis to end. They engage in mask theater.

 

Democrats sent the wrong message last week with the state of the union address using all that distancing and full mask wearing despite everyone there being vaccinated. They could have done that safely a year ago at the original height of the initial outbreak. So what’s the point of the vaccine if nothing changes as a result?

 

Its science not magic.

 

Actually there was no science behind the way they did it. They were acting as if there was no vaccine and no one was vaccinated and it was April 2020.

 

You guys are the ones that think vaccines are magic. That all it takes is one shot and poof permanent 100% immunity, news flash it don't work like that.

 

If Trumpers would decide to get vaccinated, there would be no more need for this. However, in typical Trumper fashion, they think of only themselves instead of the greater good, and they are afraid of a half day of joint soreness and fatigue after getting the jab. Do not be fooled. The point of the vaccine is NOT public health. There are likely many 'points' to the vaccine, but as we're seeing all over the place, public health is NOT one of the goals.

It should have been since it is an illogical conclusion to assume a group of people are all doing the same thing.

Most red states have outlawed the use by government or private parties the use of vaccine passports within their borders. I got vaccinated and only my primary care doctor has a copy of the document. I say I’ve been vaccinated but never show that card.

 

I went to 3 meetings yesterday. In one of them, one of the women reached out and shook my hand. It was probably the first time since early last summer I shook someone's hand. In another, a woman said, "Well since we have all had the shots, let's take these damn masks off". It was a nice reminder that normalcy is around the corner.

As for the OP, yes there are people that refuse to quit the bunker mentality. They aren't just democrats though. A lot of old conservatives who refuse to get the jab also still have that mindset as well.

If you haven't and you have no real reason not to other than you are "resisting", get your vax so we can shake hands and sit down without masks again.

 

Biden's administration will probably milk COVID for all the political control they can. I imagine it will be like the terror alert system or the allergy index.

I got the Pfizer on Feb. 19 and March 12. I was anti lock down and anti mask. I’ve never opposed using medical technology to improve health.
