I posted the data that the US had at the time. You posted a link to a web page with citations made years after the facts.
And trying to present MacArthur as somebody adverse to using atomic weapons on asians is a bit silly considering his history during the Korean war.

The George, which replaced the zeroa and hayabusa, was a nice fighter but it came too late in the war.

I posted the facts from the mouths of the greatest military experts this country has ever known. Ignore MacArthur if you want....but you also have to ignore Eisenhower, Nimitz, Arnold, Lemay......and on and on.

How much time would you need to make up your mind after being nuked?

    I don't think I'd need three days.

Uh-huh. Swim through waters that are on average 14c (57f). With all of the equipment needed to make an attack.

When the entire Soviet Navy in the theater can only transport 15,000 soldiers over multiple trips with all of their 60 ships.

And no, they had not "captured" the Kuril Islands, they had only invaded them. And even "then" is a misnomer, they had invaded a single island, Iturup. And they were still actively fighting the Japanese forces there on 23 August when the order to surrender reached them.

The only reason that the Soviet forces of 15,000 men were able to take the islands that were garrisoned by over 80,000 Japanese soldiers is that they were ordered to surrender. If that order had not come they would have been slaughtered. As it was, over 50,000 Japanese soldiers from all of the islands surrendered after 23 August. Most of them still in preparations to move to and engage the Soviets (they were on other islands after all).

If you want an idea what would actually be involved in attacking a force of 80,000 Japanese soldiers, look at the Battle of Okinawa. 76,000 Japanese soldiers, and 541,000 US soldiers and Marines. The US had over 300 combat ships in that invasion, and more than 100 transport ships. Plus the assistance from the Royal Navy (another 28 combat ships). And it was a slugfest that went on for almost 3 months.

Yet you seem to believe that the Soviet soldiers could just walk on water and conquer a force almost 6 times their size with few assets.

Yea, we can tell here who has absolutely no concept on how amphibious operations are done.

No, as posted earlier, you have a quote from a book written by a third party years after the fact.

You deny the quotes are true? If I give more references will it matter? Can you provide other quotes that challenge this?

    This is funny

    I don't think I am.

You want to keep hitting me with your typically worthless one liners or just admit that you didn't equate Japan with being ruled by an Emperor that was considered a living god?

Either way, at the end of the day, the Emperor is the one who made the call to surrender.

I denny YOUR interpretation and the importance you give to them, since after all, they were written years after the fact in a climate where the person being quoted wanted to embelish their records or get some form of revenge for being fired.
