East Asians and Northern Europeans are close genetic cousins who share haplogroup N and about 10% of Han Chinese males and 17.6% of Russians belong to haplogroup N. Hg N originated in Southeast Asia approximately 20 kya and the Finno-Ugric speakers introduced it to Northern Europe. The presence of the N3 lineage (9.6%) in Ukraine is likely explained by a contribution of the assimilated Finno-Ugric tribes.

Professor Jack Weatherford asserts that the "Russian " word "Ura (Ура)" comes from the Mongolian "Hurree", used by Mongol armies and spread throughout the world during the Mongol Empire of the 13th century.

According to Jean Paul Roux the word "Hurree" comes from Old Turkish/Mongolian, in use until medieval times. In his book, History of Turk/Mongols he states:

...while attacking to their enemies, they (Turk/Mongols) used to shout "Urah!" which means "Come on, hit!" (In modern Mongolian 'Hurree', modern Turkish 'Vur Hadi!')."

Besides Russian, it exists in many other European languages (It. Hurra , Eng. Hurrah, Fr. Hurrah and German Hurra). Ura (Ура) is likely to be derived from a PIE word commonly used when Yamnaya steppe herders from Pontic-Caspian steppe attacked the enemy front line of defense, who destroyed Old Europe around 4,500 BCE. Yamnaya steppe herders were probably a Turkic ethnic group similar to the Bashkirs.

Haak et al. (2015) identified Yamnaya haplogroups as R1b1a or R1b1a2. Haplogroup R1b is very rare among the modern Russian population (5.8%) and the Russians are less likely to be the direct descendants of the Yamnaya steppe herders. But R1b is the predominant haplogroup among some ethnic minority groups in Russia such as the Bashkirs as 34.4% belong to R1b1a2 among the Bashkirs. R1b1a2 is the identical haplogroup carried by the ancient Yamnaya samples and the Bashkirs also fit the description of the Yamnaya steppe herders described as brown-eyed and brown-haired people (Allentoft et al. 2015), based on a low frequency of rs12913832 from the Pontic-Caspian steppe populations (2%-3%).

On the territory of the "Muscovy" up to the Mongols there were fifty Russian cities that were built and settled by settlers from Kievan Rus from 1100 to 1237.
The Mongols came to plunder these Russian cities.
