I sometimes find it difficult to remember that up until 9/11 despite neo liberalism's affect on our societies, certainly in the UK we still intended on making the world an ever more humanitarian place. When there were problems we believed in talking not killing. It was a very different world. Now I wonder if we will still be here in ten years but if we are it will I believe be a far more devilish world than even now. We have seen the West go from a position where it believed in human rights to one where it will support the worst inhumanity. Gaza is one place where this has been witnessed and a place where the fear is that the time is getting ready for what many in Israel were wanting in 2014, a genocide, possible putting some in concentration camps before expelling them. “Concentrate” and “exterminate”: Israel parliament deputy speaker’s Gaza genocide plan Avi Shlaim writes in this essay about the beginning of the West's, certainly the US's approval of Israel treating the people of Gaza in an inhumane way - ironically a time when many Western Jews realised they could no longer stay quiet about the actions of Israel. https://www.theguardian.com/comment...r-gaza-operation-cast-lead-israel-brute-force Israel has been testing whether there is any morality left in the West this Summer gunning down Palestinian civilians including the old, the disabled and children as well as medics and Press and while the US might even applaud it, the EU and no one else for instance the UN has done anything to stop it bar words. It looks like we may have once again reached the point where we believe there is nothing wrong in genocide Something really bad is being prepared for the Palestinians in Gaza I was reading an American Indian recently saying that the problem with the West is that it has forgotten it's Spirituality - Spirituality, not Religion please note and indeed I believe that is true, The West has shut down its heart and does not realise that it is the one now carrying the banner of master of inhumanity. I don't think we will survive this madness but it we did that is how we will be seen.
