We had a Bantam rooster which I raised. He was so very nice to me. Sat on my shoulder, ate from my hand, always happy to see me. My husband, on the other hand, still has battle scars. He couldn't go anywhere near that thing.

Farm geese have always been my most feared of the birds.

    And bulls of the cattle.

There is a farmers' market stand a block from where I live, and they have the very best vegies.

Their field is across the street.

My cat hunts for birds and mice there.

He killed and ate a small bird there yesterday. I found the feather patch when I went looking for him. He sacked out nearby for his afternoon nap, but my voice calling him woke him and he came running. He follows my voice commands.

It looks like that farmers' market field is his paradise.

There are even feral female calico cats over there, but he can't do anything about that -- he has been fixed.

It is kinda funny. Some roosters hate short pants. Some roosters attack a certain gender....but the rooster we had attacked everyone. We called him Red.

    Yup.

I prefer to read members' summaries before I run off to a link, if at all.

In the game of show and tell on the I-phone I get that millennials love to show and tell.

But in your case on a forum it makes more sense for you to give a summary of why you liked it.

We had one like that briefly. I was so happy when our german shepherd gave him a fatal dose of karma. If I shaved my head, there are probably still scars up there somewhere from that SOB bird. My dad got mad at the dog. I gave the dog extra treats for a month. I guess that is what they call mixed messaging.

That is a common belief. Bees make their honey from local pollens, and those local pollens are the source of allergies for many people. I don't know if there is any real science behind it, but local beekeepers seem to believe it (or hope their honey customers do ;) ) .

Not really the issue though. It keeps the bees from feeding on their own honey so the keeper harvests more, but the problem is that it alters the PH since honey and high fructose corn syrup have different PH's which in turn can weaken the colony. Not a good practice as far as the bees, but understandable as far as the economics of honey production.

They derive necessary nutrients from the pollen they forage. The sucrose nectar is the source of energy to be able to forage.

    No way Beavis.

The bees need vitamins from the honey or from the flowers.

Eating dirt, time honored remedy to build up the immune systems of our kids. Long lost, though, it seems.
