This is a gun control forum. People come here to debate various types of gun control. But the bottom line is everyone should have a gun control plan. We all may have a different idea of what that should be but clearly everyone should at least have a plan backed with evidence. Would you go on an abortion forum and say I have no plan to change anything regarding abortion? Would you go on a political forum and say I want everything in politics to stay exactly the way it is and I am just here to criticize anyone that wants to change something? That would be silly. If you want to attack someone's plan you better be able to come back with a plan of your own. Otherwise you ae dismissed. Come to the table as an equal....but don't come here just to criticize everyone else's plan when you do not have a better one.

why? should everyone on an abortion forum have a plan to ban abortion? some people like the current laws involving abortion

you seem to think your silly plans somehow gain merit as crime control plans just because most of us don't support any more laws imposed on honest gun owners.

that's not true and you know it. I support harsher punishments on CRIMINALS-you know people who harm other people with firearms. your plan involves harassing people who have not harmed anyone

Now provide the scientific evidence for that plan.....the same kind of evidence you ask of others. That is how actual debate works

there is no scientific evidence that harassing honest gun owners is going to deter criminals. there is all sorts of evidence that people who are locked up for committing crimes cannot commit other crimes.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Exile

During the first year of Project Exile (1998, homicides in Richmond declined 33%, for the lowest number since 1987, and armed robberies declined 30%. In 1999, homicides declined another 21%.[2] By 2007, homicides in Richmond were down to 57 compared to 122 in the year before Project Exile.[4]

Project Exile does not exist today in Richmond. It has been abandoned. Why? I believe only one city in America currently does it. why? It is also HATED by many pro gun activists.

But soon after Exile went national, its record was called into question. Gun murder numbers rose every year but one through 2006. Two major research papers on the program’s effects in Richmond came to opposite conclusions, with one finding that it didn’t work at all and another that it may have sped the decline in gun murders. The city moved away from Exile after that.

It’s unclear when exactly the city’s Exile program ended; spokesmen for the mayor and for the police department referred inquiries to the federal prosecutor’s office for the Eastern District of Virginia, which includes Richmond. A spokesman for the office declined to comment.

Critics say that for a program without clear success, Exile is too harsh. They say that tougher penalties alone do not generally deter people from committing crime and that federalizing cases removes prosecutorial accountability. And in many cities, defense attorneys say black defendants and families have borne a disproportionately large share of Exile’s burden.

Raphael and his co-author, University of Chicago economist Jens Ludwig, say Exile probably didn’t reduce homicides at all. Their 2003 study found that Richmond likely would have experienced roughly the same reduction in homicides it did without Exile. They found that cities where homicides increased a great deal in the 1980s and early 1990s, like Richmond, also saw bigger decreases than other cities in the late 1990s — whether or not they had Exile. Basically, homicides regressed to the mean.

do you consider Stop Lights and Stop Signs "harrassment"?

what if you're in the middle of nowhere and there is clearly no traffic anywhere, are they harrassment cause they limit your freedom of movement?

what question-while the term project exile has been abandoned, many cities are turning hard core felons with guns over to the feds. I know I was part of a bunch of those cases. I think it changed names to things like Project safe neighborhoods at the federal level. lots of black activists complained about the Richmond program since most of the felons pinched were black

you are confusing laws about how you use your car vs laws that prevent someone from owning a car

did you bother even reading my posts where I said restrictions on people blasting away in municipal areas. that's akin to a stop sign or traffic light

Who are you to come on here and dictate what others should do? Typical democrat ideology.
Is there a rule on this forum that supports your authoritarian ideal? Are you a new Mod?

There is nothing wrong with simply defending against stupid misdirected gun control plans.
You just want to be able to push your agenda uncontested.

Believing we need no further gun restrictions and can reduce gun violence by other methods IS A PLAN. Just because you disagree does not mean than you have any more right to post on this forum than anyone else.
This post is a new low by you. Frankly it’s insulting.

I am simply offering my opinion. You are free to do as you wish. I have no authority. But the other methods IS YOUR PLAN. Present it with evidence please

its specious to pretend a bad plan somehow becomes a good plan merely because others don't believe we need to harass honest citizens more

if you have a problem with folks expressing their opinions about existing or proposed laws and regulations, this is not the place for you.
