I have been working out throughout my 49 year life. At times I considered myself to be in great shape. But lately, I have been experimenting with a new workout device called a kettlebell. Apparently it originated in Russia in the 1700s as a measure of weights used by farmers. I think this may be the best workout ever invented. You can find lots of instructional video on Youtube: 24 kilograms = 53 pounds, aka 1.5 pood (1 pood = 16 kg). If you are interested in getting in the best shape of your life, don't bother joining a gym or buying a bunch of expensive equipment. Just get a small kettlebell and start working your way up to the 1.5 pood. You will become what you always wanted to be.
You people and your silly fads. Get a real set of weights and learn how to use them. Don't play stupid games. It is just one fixed weight - a very stupid way to work out.
I see people using them at the gym, I haven't taken that route just yet. I'm a creature of habit and already have my routines. But the folks using them look serious and I'm certain I couldn't do the things they were doing just from the get go.
A fad that has been around for centuries and is used by the US Navy Seals and the strongest people in the world.
Yes, you have to work your way into it slowly. They are very efficient for total body workout in a short time period, and including cardiovascular as well as weights.
Actually kettlebell workouts are very effective! It's not really a fad? What made you draw that conclusion? How is it stupid? As long as one can be CONSISTENT with a workout program that involves both cardio and strength, the workout is fine...
Very true! I use them in my HIIT workouts from time to time, as well as weights, or body weight training... Kettlebell swings kick my booty! Lol
ok that's very impressive... but you'd want to already have quite a bit of strength by the time you start with it or you'll rip your shoulder right out of the socket.
Its not just about building muscle, but maintaining dexterity in the process. Kettlebell looks to me like it builds both. At least the way the guy in the vid is doing it.
Yes, I am just moving up to the 1 pood (~43 pounds). I started with the 30 pounder about two months ago. An average male should be working out with the 1 pood kettlebell. I see some videos of people using the 2 pood, and they are always straining to do it correctly, which to me seems to defeat the purpose. I think the Russian man is using 1.5 pood
The results I have gotten are phenomenal, not only in my overall fitness and looks, but in the bed as well. Great results! I will never stop the kettlebell workouts until I can no longer go!
