“The Home Depots are full, the Lowes are full. People are moving around but the church is closed. So, I think my question to all those people is, when did that one hour become the most dangerous hour in America?”

Brian Gibson is pastor of His Church, which has locations in Kentucky and Texas. He has organized a movement called Peaceably Gather. Pastors around the U.S. are encouraged to reopen their churches this Sunday, May 17, in defiance of orders to stay shuttered.

PeaceablyGather.com is a website for churches to sign up to participate and get more information about the movement. Any pastor who is concerned and wants legal counsel can receive that counsel free of charge from First Liberty Institute, the country’s largest nonprofit law firm, which specializes in religious freedom cases.”

It is time to stop government discrimination against religion and believers. There is no reason why churches can’t meet using social distancing and precautions in the church building. If Walmart and grocery stores can have people in numbers in them then churches can safely do it too. It’s time to be able to go back to church.

The pandemic has brought many people to God and thinking about major life issues and faith. The pandemic though did not give the constitution and our bill of rights a time out. They are not suspended.

    Life is hard....

It's even harder if you're stupid..

God doesn't mind if you pray to him outside of a church...They did it for many, many years..

We did for weeks. Now though it’s just as reasonable to attend Church using social distancing and precautions as it is to go anywhere else. It’s time to stop the bigotry and discrimination against believers by some government officials from governors to mayors.

Looks like they ran out of space for the title. It should say "... Why dumb uninformed Pastors are Telling..."

If other places can be open safely with social distancing and precautions, churches should be able to as well. The ability to have religious beliefs and the free exercise of them in our lives is protected by the 1st amendment. Locking church doors while opening up other places smells of anti theist bigotry

Where in the constitution does it say the government can do this that , and the other during a pandemic.
    I’ll wait.

Churches should have never been closed nor should they have to abide by social distancing guidelines
The first amendment strictly forbids it

That's not what you posted on the OP.

If Home Depots and Lowes are full, then they should be demanding they be closed. Not churches opened.

But I agree that if similar organizations (like Restaurants) are opened using the proper guidelines and meeting CDC requirements and with restrictions, churches should be allowed to open with the same restrictions.

Take away those nifty tax breaks given to clergy and see how fast these jokers fade into the background.

I had no problem with us closing when this went down voluntarily and most did . It’s the orders and the spirit behind them from the secular left that I object to

Separation of church and state demands that government not have taxing power over religion or collect taxes for religion.

Hundreds of churches is Louisiana and Mississippi will reopen Sunday with social distancing. Some reopened last Sunday.

Many of them will sing the old Spiritual, We Been in the Wilderness a Mighty Long Time.
