    Excerpt;

    And that isn't the low-point of his story. After departing from Osaka, "it felt as if the ocean itself was dead." What he didn't see: the birds, sharks, dolphins, and fish that typically studded his voyage.

    What he did: an "unbelievable" load of garbage, part of it propelled there by the tsunami that hit Japan. He sailed through oil slicks, broken chairs, toys, wooden power poles, and a factory chimney. There was so much garbage, that "in a lot of places we couldn't start our motor for fear of entangling the propeller in the mass of pieces of rope and cable. That's an unheard of situation, out in the ocean."

    Earth's oceans are huge! We learned in our first geography class when we were kids that 70% of Earth is covered by oceans. Surely the gigantic oceans of Earth can never be fished out or polluted?! But maybe we're now seeing this was not a good assessment. Over 7 billion Earthlings are extracting food and sport from the oceans and in parallel polluting those same oceans! Are the oceans becoming dead? Is a horrific truth about dead oceans sneaking up on us?

    Lastly, I can find some parallel between the above issue and global climate change...or more precisely the potential changes to our oceans due to climate change. What percentage of people on Earth ever give an ounce of thought about our gigantic oceans changing temperature, or rising, or ocean currents interrupted and/or altered, etc.? Why should they when 99% of them never see anything except a beautiful and peaceful shoreline with ocean water as far as the eye can see? Is the potentially horrific truth about global climate change also sneaking up on us?

    Well...here's the problem with your comment...Dems won't eat any Reps, and Reps won't eat any Dems, Atheists won't eat any Christians, and Christians won't eat any Atheists or Muslims or anyone outside of their cult, some won't eat dark meat while others will only eat brown meat...so by the time our hatred of everyone not in our likeness or beliefs are filtered out of the food chain...there's nothing left to eat...
