The Midtown Tavern in Bozeman, Montana has chosen not to host a political rally featuring Junior. The quote from the manager is as follows: “We definitely don’t want to take political sides. That’s never our intention,” the restaurant’s manager, Jess Wilcox, told the newspaper. “We just try to stay politically neutral.” Wilcox said he didn’t know the event had been booked until it was announced on Tuesday, and added, “That’s just not who we are. We just try to stay politically neutral. We’re a restaurant.” As per usual, the fringes are digging in vowing to travel thousands of miles for some tender red meat or to burn the place down. What do you think? Fair to pillory a business for preferring not to be a political stage?
Well, it is Bozeman. Arguably the most liberal of all of Montana. I think the 'taking sides" comment is cute given the dynamics of Bozeman.. It smacks of a certain about of fear. Fear of being retaliated against by the liberal mob who live there... And isn't that the example we want to demonstrate....
What kind of idiot would not take that into consideration? The owners want to pour pints and sell food. Anything that would negatively impact those goals should be avoided. duh.

I'm happy that businesses get to choose who they want as clientele. Whether that be a bunch of Don Jr supporters or not.
I think there is a slight difference between the two situations, but I would expect people to be in business to make money, and Trump tinged money is as green as any other.
That's a slippery slope - unless the patrons are breaking the law or being unruly, I don't see it as a good thing for restaurants or bars to 'choose' their patrons. Of course, this is a different matter - this is about holding a function. And for that, I believe that every business has the right to hold or not hold any function of their choice.
There is no slippery slope. There is no function of a bar that allows unlawful activity. The Bar owner did not hold any function he did not want to hold. ...same difference in choosing one's clientele. He chose not to have politicos at his bar.
