I never said that, it's possible someone in a lab coat in another universe created our universe

what I disagree with is that an all-knowing, all-powerful God always existed and used magic to create our universe

Stop right there. There is a lot of evidence of evolution. No faith involved at all.

No more magical than digital info creating a virtual reality.

You are free to believe anything you want just as long as you don't claim absolute certainty.

There is no certainty in assumption. Claiming it so is silly. Honest science won't do that.

It is pure assumption that materialism is fundamental. Yet you are certain? Impossible! Hell, there is no way to test it!

if there was nothing before this all-powerful , all-knowing god existed, then it's magic

if this God was just a person from another universe in a lab coat that evolved over time.. sure

if everything needs a creator, then so does a all-powerful, all-knowing god

if that doesn't need a creator, nothing does

    Lol.

So you are driven by emotions.. For it is possible an other universe exists complete with a dude in a lab coat who used a computer to create a super VR that we live in and experience as real , yet it isn't possible that a being a consciousness a metaphorical computer has created our universe ?

Far too emotional my fellow member!.

You can't accept the idea that Consciousness might be fundamental instead of matter.

Anything is possible and your emotion dictates more than you are aware of!

Just admit it. The folks who believe in an anthromorphic god that looks like us and is magic as you say are afflicted by their emotional baggage as you are. Lol

The faith comes in with the assumption of materialism.

If one assumes consciousness is fundamental instead of matter, randomness and accidents get replaced by purpose and intelligence.

And some can't accept that! They don't like the idea life may have great purpose and meaning ...and prefer astronomical odds and rolling of infinitely dice over purpose.

It is possible that this universe is the product of intelligence and coherency designed to yield life and purpose.

never said that either, for all you know we collectively imagined this universe into existence

did we have a creator? did we need one?

remember, this is what I originally said

or were just living a story, and a million, maybe even billions of souls have live your life, you have no control of it, you're just here for the ride, no free will, just seems as though you do as that is the way it's designed to feel

in that case, no point believing anything, as anything is possible

maybe next time we play this story, I will be you and you will be me - the story will be exactly the same, just are perspectives different

in fact, this could all be your dream and you're playing all the characters at once

    Well we just don't know!

No one knows. Yet we act as if we do!

Personally I tend to think this reality was created by consciousness and Consciousness is fundamental not matter.. But not by a anthropomorphic god. But by Mind that like a super computer works in information 0s and 1s. Digital. At the subatomic level. It created the rules of the game in this VR.

But I prefer purpose and meaning over the mindset of materialists..So.its preference ..While understanding I cannot know the truth ..So agnostic.

Evolution then becomes the design of the VR. Its the mechanics . As understood using materialism as the bias, the tool that aids in understanding.

I think you're talking about abiogenesis or 'life from non-life' which is not technically part of the Theory of Evolution. Evolution is the description of what happenned after the swirling puddle of chemicals (or w/e) coallesced into an organism.

Abiogenesis is not as widely accepted as Evolution is. Its just that a lot of people think Evolution includes abiogenesis as a presumptive starting point, which it doesn't.

Perhaps only time space matter needs creation? While the fundamental, Consciousness is not of time but timeless and was not created given it is not of time but timeless. No beginning and no end? It simply IS. A most God like quality .

No a biogenesis, no evolution of a self replicating molecule! It is amazing that such a molecule came with the.ability to mutate and adapt into complex organisms.

    Thank you for your comment.

Abiogenesis is not the issue on my mind.

My view is that it does not matter what you
call it -- the fact remains that , ,

    Evolutionists claim that , , ,

    ~ natural selection
    and
    ~ :random mutation
    and
    ~ atoms and molecules
    and
    ~ chemical reactions
    and
    ~ etc etc etc

    plus
    unthinking non-intelligent Time
    plus
    unthinking non-intelligent Chance
    plus
    unthinking non-intelligent Matter , , ,

, , eventually produced a situation where our ancestors crawled
up out of the Primordial Slime or Primordial Soup, at first just a
tiny speck, later to become the size of a dime, later to become the
size of a golf ball, later to become a Bullfrog or Whatever You Say It Was
later to become a Monkey or a Chimp, later to become a "George W. Bush."

    ____________

    Moreover, , , Evolutionists believe that , , ,

    ~ unthinking non-intelligent Time
    plus
    ~ unthinking non-intelligent Chance
    plus
    ~ unthinking non-intelligent Matter , , ,

    . . . produced a , , ,

    ■ highly complex Human Brain
    and
    ■ a highly complex Human Eye
    and
    ■ a highly complex Fully Functioning Human Body
    and
    ■ a highly complex Earth
    and
    ■ a highly complex Universe.
    and eventually produced a , , ,
    ■ "George W. Bush"

    _____________

It takes a lot of Faith to believe all that up there.
And my view is that anybody who believes all that
up there is a Great Man Of Faith -- this is why I
speak about the Religion Of Evolution.

    Speaking about Faith , ,

I do NOT say that Evolution is not true.

Theistic Evolution may be the way it happened.
My view is that it has NOT been scientifically proved
that the one-celled speck in the Primordial Slime eventually
became "Oprah Winfrey" and "Joe Biden" , ,

    , , but, , ,

, , Evolution is not a crucial issue for the Christian anyway.

Millions of us say Evolutionists have NOT scientifically proved
that "George W. Bush" started off as a single-celled speck that
"came up out of the Slime" -- but even if they do, one day, prove
that it happened that way, So what? Who cares?

We Christians will forever believe in the God that created the highly
complex Human Person, the highly complex Human Brain, the highly
complex Human Eye, the highly complex Earth, the highly complex
Universe, and all that exists --- how He did it, is interesting but it has
zero to do with our Faith in God , ,,

    , , , repeat , , ,

how He did it, is interesting but it has zero to do with
our Faith in God , ,,

Many probably do, but not all. I think evolution is the most likely and most accurate (though not definitive or entirely accurate) depiction of the process as it ocurred in our reality. But I am ultimately a creationist. It seems most likely to me that the Creation Story depicted in The Bible is from the spiritual perspective and attempting to describe the process in those terms. From our perspective (had we been conscious to witness it) we would have seen days 5 and 6 of the creation story take place over hundreds of millions of years. God is timeless. If Evolution is viewed through extreme 'fast forward', its not meaningfully different from Creation by the 'unseen hand' guiding the mutations and adaptations toward a specific design.

So I am one example of a believer in Evolution but not abiogenesis (at least not on its fundamental level that it occurred by chance).

I recently read a section of an article about a real life monkey & typewriter
experiment where exactly that happened -- the monkey's defecated on
the typewriters. I think I read it in one of those many Wiki articles related to
Evolution. The monkeys failed to type anything except mostly the letter S

    Fact.

    JAG

My view is that the monkeys had Science on their minds, hence the letter S

    , , lol , ,

    Aw, come on now , , ,
See that post up-there that I wrote to Modernpaladin
and you'll see all kinds of Faith in the Religion Of Evolution.

    __________

By the way, the word "religion" is a good word.
There isn't anything bad or wrong about the word "religion."
So the Religion Of Evolution is not a bad idea after all.
It sure does have a lot of Faith beliefs. Rejoice.

So there is a sadistic sociopath who "created" life so that it could ENJOY all of the pain and suffering that it is INFLICTING upon it's creations?

That is just a regurgitation of DEBUNKED "creationism" and it's misnamed illegitimate spawn "intelligent design".
