The blame is clearly squarely on that pinhead's shoulders. Shut down the govt over protection for people who are here in violation of our laws? Utter stupidity, but what is worse is the fact that Trump agreed to sign a law extending DACA if it is presented as a stand alone Bill, but that isn' how Dems work. They love some pork thrown into every Bill. Proof they really couldn' give two turds about immigrants. They are just pawns in their game.

When has the senate voted on DACA as a stand alone bill? Did I miss that?

It is extremely obvious DACA was thrown in just to shut down the gov. The left think the medias constant screaming it was Trump's fault will be enough to hide what they have done.

DACA ends in March, the left was trying to preserve it until a full immigration compromise can be reached.

Trump wants to push that to a separate bill because then the dems have no leverage to get what they want.

Whether or not I agree with the dems or the repubs is moot. Thats just the facts on how we got here. Don't make this something its not.

So I believe I said Trump offered that as a solution and the Dems rejected it.

The Democrats will receive part of the blame for the filibuster; however, the party in power will get most of the blame. Most voters still like compromise on issues that aren't controversial, like DACA. As the shutdown continues, more of the blame will shift to the party in control for its refusal to work with the minority party.

Honestly, the Democrats should just skip talking to that obese orange guy that sometimes plays the President on TV and Twitter and directly negotiate with President Miller. Not that it would do any good but Trump is about as useless as tits on a boar hog.

Did he? Or did he say that he would accept a clean DACA bill during the televised meeting, edited that portion from the White House transcript, and then re-jected a bipartisan deal on DACA because he got whip sawed by his base?

Also, your post violates multiple rules regarding posting in the current events thread. You need a link to a news source, and not merely a statement of opinion.

The above is why so many people oppose the stupidity of the Republicans. IT'S STUPID!!!
First of all, the republican argument of "protection for people who are here in violation of our laws" is an example of simplistic, twisted thinking. ARE they "here"? Yes. DID THEY "violate our laws"? Yes. Some a very, very long time ago when government knew it was happening and turned a blind eye to it. The government was instructed by the president(s) NOT to enforce our immigration laws. I suppose you didn't know that. Fox doesn't mention it so it isn't widely known among the right.

So time means details. Things change. Things happen. Hence the answer isn't so simple as you wish it were, and the right is averse to details and nuanced considerations. The Democrats may be motivated by different issues than what motivates democrats. But both are calling for rational treatment of those "illegal immigrants". Tell me why the right and Republicans oppose a rational resolution.

Didn't donald promise he would vote for a DACA bill, and then when Senate Dem and Republican leaders showed him their compromise donald reneged?

Not sure how that is the Dems fault. But with partisan conservatives, it always is.

I'm thinking somebody (not sure who- But I think Graham/Durbin should have the honor) is going to propose a clean DACA bill in the next week or so... Nothing else included... No Chain Migration or Lottery or Wall.........Clean.... That's the best chance this will get done....

There will be no DACA without border security.

Shut it down over illegal immigrants as long as you want.
