Would they be returning if the situation had not improved?

    No!
    First "get out".

Just as the haters said we invaded Iraq for the oil, the same people are claiming we invaded Afghanistan for rare minerals. Well, we're not getting any free oil from Iraq and we won't get any free minerals from Afghanistan. I recall reading that Afghanistan is more likely to sell minerals to China than the US.

One of our main reasons for malingering in afghaniland is to prevent the emergence of another nation dominated by extremist islamic forces...which would give them the benefit of state status to pursue various plots of terroism against the western nations.
Yep....unfortunately that is true....the problem with our whole middle eastern approach is that there needs to be more creative thinking and do away with long established procedures in the middle east which has done nothing to improve our security...all these years since 9/11 and we are still living under islamic terrorism threats.

We need to take a very pragmatic approach to improve the current status quo....first of all do whatever is required to get rid of all the radical indoctrination that goes on over there....mainly in the so called religious schools which are nothing more than indoctrination centers.

We need to work very closely with Saudia Arabia, Egypt and any other nation in that area that desires to stop muslim terrorism...including Israel...we need to stop looking at Israel like they are a red-headed step child...they have tremendous assets that could be utilized in the fight against islamic terrorism.

We need to focus on Iran...the one regime in the Middle East that does more to enable islamic terrorism than any other nation....the Iranian regime must be done away with...whatever that takes.

I think one possible sollution to the quagmire in Afghaniland would be to partner with India...they have huge numbers of soldiers that given the proper training and support, that could defeat the taliban...Pakistan is the big problem in afghaniland...by playing a double game they enable the survival of the taliban...primarily by providing a safe haven in the tribal lands.

The pakistanis would be very upset if we set up an alliance with India regarding Afghanistan...but what could they do? Or what are they likely to do...not much.

In a nutshell we must stop just trying to preserve the status quo aka fighting a holding action....we need to go on the offensive...but not bare the sole brunt of the fighting...organize the co-alition train their fighters and then proceed to do what must be done to really defeat islamic radicalism and terrorism.

You have the typical distorted definition of what the truth is. I guess you refer to it as "your" truth. Who will you blame when our troops are forced to look the other way?

Don't give me your holier than thou BS, Lefties are very selective about their moral outrage.

There is no need for the Right to condemn any type of child abuse, it is roundly condemned, yet we see how the Left is pushing moral and sexual deviancy in their plan to eventually normalize pedophilia.

Why would India want to go to war in Afghanistan?

Overblown analysis....not common at all ...as in isolated cases here and there...not a cultural thing at all.

The Catholic Priesthood does have a huge problem and a long
tradition of tolerance of homersexuality in the priesthood and their abuse ...mainly of young sexually mature male teens....****philia I think it is called.

Not afghanistan...the taliban. India has a huge problem with muslims....they are a big threat to India. Yet we sided with Pakistan and did not pursue an alliance with India.

We definitely need an alliance with India and not only in regards to fighting islamic terrorism but also to contain China...who keeps trying to encroach on Indian territory.

It wasn't me who sent them there. Your side did. If you must spend our tax dollars entertaining foreign troops why not use it to pay professional sex workers rather than innocent boys? Must be because so many on your side engages in pedophilia so often in church basements.

India has a problem with Pakistan. Mostly over borders. Same with China.
The only reason we went with Pakistan is for a ground supply to Afghanistan. Somehow I don't see Pakistan granting that same privilege to India. :)

anyhow...for some reason in my post above the term for attraction to sexually mature young male teens was blocked out.

That is the biggest problem with the sexual abuse going on the Catholic Priesthood.....priests attracted to sexually mature young male teens. Not pedophilia which is what the bigwigs tried to blame it on...as in.....oh yes we have a few pedophile priests but we are getting rid of them.

The whole catholic priesthood needs to be reformed as in first of all....allow catholic priests to marry and have families like normal human beings.

Indian troops in Afghanistan in alliance with America would be a big problem for Pakistan....but there is nothing they could or would do about it...except perhaps to side even more with muslim terrorists than they already do...Pakistan is a schizophrenic nation...they help us and they hinder us...we have some good intelligence sources in Pakistan but as said they play a double game....time to deal with Pakistan.

That's probably why Pakistan is doing deals with China.
But they do go after the Taliban from time to time when they get to frisky.
Did I ask you why India would fight our war for us? Yeah. I guess I did.

I answered it already...they have a bigger problem with muslims than we do...but I did not mean to suggest they would fight the war in afghaniland for us...we should be partners...we train them and provide the logistics..they would do most of the fighting which would greatly lessen our casualties and all the opposition here at home...with the proper alliance I think the Indians would go for it.

With the way China treat muslims one would think the muslims would be more concerned about that...apparantly not...perhaps they realize they just have no operational capability to confront the chinese...as in the Chinese are not so stupid they allow muslims to come in or go out like in a revolving door the way wester nations do thus making it not very difficult for terrorists to operate in Western Nations.

That would be awesome! But, don't you think that in the past 18 years the Afghan men have learned how to fight and defend themselves against the Taliban fanatics? I dare to hope so. Who arms and finances the Taliban? Do you know?

But shouldn't they clean up their contamination first? Else they won't come back to do that.
Btw., I got my languages mixed up earlier - uran = uranium!
Out of the corner of my eye I read something about having already spent billions on reconstruction in Afghanistan. Will check it out in the morning. If true, that would be amazing!

I have difficulty understanding what exactly you mean. Could you, please, rephrase your last sentence?
