Strategic access, open markets in Afghanistan together with access to the resources, protection of the corporation running the show currently there is the reason for the invasion and occupation of Afghanistan.
I believe the most circulated and taken for fact reasons are propaganda. I feel no pity for the foreign soldiers dead there, those fools.
I know some soldiers going there, big money to be earned, mercenaries with a flag on the uniform, giving sweets to children to perceive the occupiers as cool while killing the fathers for resisting the occupation.
Nothing less honorable than doing the bidding of Big Money interests.

Correct, YOU were the bad guys, because you bomb our cities and killed endless numbers of civilians. You also deliberately killed your German POW along the Rheinwiesen AFTER the war!!! Big atrocity on your part! BUT... the ordinary individual American soldiers was decent and likeable, I believe. I had no dealings with them as I was living in the British Zone. The Brits treated us with respect and politeness IF they weren't drunk or on a looting spree.

The difference between your country and Germany is that you have been the winners of every war so far. Naturally, it would be beneath you to apologize to any of your victims. You are on a high and believe you are justified destroying one country after another, and those which you are not destroying, you bully them!
In Fairness and to your credit I like to point out the apology from a Mr. Merrit Drucker, who took it upon himself and apologized for the Rheinwiesen massaker of at least 1.7 million German POW.

I am not American. I am from Sweden. We didn't bomb your cities. I also lived in post-war Germany. West Berlin and Freiburg i. breisgau.

Never been to Berlin nor Freiburg; my home is in the North near Kiel. But what were you doing in Germany?

 

I was working as a draughtsman in Freiburg in 1975 and then I worked for the RAF at Gatow Flugplatz in W. Berlin in 1978-79. You say ”near” Kiel? I was there a few months ago. There isn't very much left of it but Eckenförde looks very nice. And where in Sweden did you live? A long time ago perhaps?
