Vladimir Putin’s meeting with Donald Trump went “better than super,” Russia’s top diplomat has said.

The leaders’ summit in Helsinki was “fabulous”, declared foreign minister Sergei Lavrov, as the US president faced a storm of criticism in Washington.

The remarks, reported by Russian news agencies, summed up the mood in Mr Putin’s government after Mr Trump sided with the Kremlin over his own intelligence agencies by insisting there was “no reason” Russia would interfere in the US election.

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...-election-interference-helsinki-a8450836.html

Russia announced it was ready to pursue agreements reached by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump "in the sphere of international security," though the White House and Pentagon would not confirm any agreements had been made or offer any details.

Trump and Putin met for about two hours during their summit in Helsinki with only translators present. It is still not clear what the two men discussed or agreed to during their meeting.

"The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is ready for practical implementation of the agreements reached between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump in the sphere of international security achieved at the Helsinki summit," Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov, a Russian military spokesman, said in a statement Tuesday.

What did Trump agree to in that private meeting he wanted with Putin? No one knows, but, according to the Russians, he made some agreements.

    Remember the Schweppes ad:

    Hey, what did you expect!?

P and T are identical twins, ideologically: both extreme-right autocrats.

The difference is in the personnalities: on the one hand, you have a seasoned and composed leader who has an in-depth knowledge of the dossiers; on the other hand, you have a 5 year-old spoiled and stupid child who only cares about himself.

T hasn't accepted the fact that Hillary (of Clinton Inc) got more votes and keep whining about it and is afraid that people could discover that, on top of that, he could have been helped by Russia, hence his "witch hunt" campaign.

He admires P enormously (isn't that obvioius?) and wishes he could "manage" the US the same way P manages Russia.

His (not so secret) wish is to have some day a Trump Tower built in Moscow and/or Saint-Petersburg. He is ready to anything to achieve that, including being P's poodle.

Thank God, the US had real leaders at the time of the 1948 Berlin blockade (Harry Truman) and the 1962 Cuban missiles crisis (JFK). Who knows what would have happened with this coward instead?

Trump, brushing off criticism of his summit with Vladimir Putin, floated the possibility Thursday of a “second meeting” with the Russian president – even as a new firestorm broke out over his consideration of Putin’s bid to question former U.S. government officials.

The Summit with Russia was a great success, except with the real enemy of the people, the Fake News Media. I look forward to our second meeting so that we can start implementing some of the many things discussed, including stopping terrorism, security for Israel, nuclear........

This guy is a load of laughs. He lives in his own little world, emphasis on "little."

In the real world, Trump can no longer be trusted.

His cabinet members and chief of staff remain mute. They don't endorse him. Despite his sometimes treasonous behavior, they don't question him, either. Pompeo, Bolton, Mattis, and Kelly remain silent. Trump is the only one doing the talking. His mouthpiece, Sanders, doesn't count.

Pathetic. That is all you can say? Jeez, you can't even defend yourself.

If I had received a post similar to this one that targeted me, I would have a lot to say. But not you and not the other Trump fans.

Why do you support Trump? You can't defend him.

Trump wants another summit with Putin this fall in New York. Dan Coats, Trump's DNI, heard about it while he was being interviewed by Andrea Mitchell. They both had a good laugh.

“We have some breaking news, the White House has announced on Twitter that Vladimir Putin is coming to the White House in the fall,” Mitchell said during an event with Coats at the Aspen Security Forum.

“Say that again?” Coats replied, before laughing.

You had to see it live. It was so cherry.

The Socialist Workers Party (SWP) is a communist party in the United States. Originally a group in the Communist Party USA that supported Leon Trotsky against Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, it places a priority on "solidarity work" to aid factory workers.

Trump’s imposed steep tariffs on imported steel and aluminum. That delighted the factory workers he had championed. “Enthusiastic and gratified are probably understatements,” said Michael A. Bless, the president of Century Aluminum.

Today, Fox News interrupted its scheduled programing to accommodate President Trump's "Pledge to America's Workers Event."

I don't know if you watched P's face when T embarked in his digression about the server, Hillary, no collusion, Mueller etc...

It was the only moment P looked a little ill-at-ease. You could almost hear him say: "don't overdo it, Don: I don't thing you're on a safe track there..."

Now, what a dilemma for republicans! I don't doubt most of them are true patriots, but many of them (at least in Congress) have so far been more coward ( maintaining their allegiance to T) than patriots. Some day, they will have to choose.

But I can understand their frustration when POTUS demonstrates to the whole world, every time he opens his mouth or fires a tweet, that he is a idiotic clown.

Most of us knew that before the election, but his fans are discovering it a bit more every day. What a disappointment that must be!

Yes, I did notice. Because politicians like Trump yap and often say nothing of consequence (although that is hardly true on Monday) I have gotten in the habit of looking at people's faces and eyes when they or others are talking. Putin's eyes may have been asking, "What the hell is he talking about and what does it have to do with today's topics?"

That reminds me. Did you get a good look at Dan Coats' reaction to Andrea Mitchell's announcement that Trump's wants another summit with Putin? Man, it was classic. Then they both had a good laugh at Trump's expense. Here is a video of Coat's reaction. As you know, Coats is Trump's DNI appointee.

Trump has extended an invitation to Vladimir Putin to another summit, this time at the White House. On multiple levels this is beyond incomprehension. It will not happen.

From the American point of view, we still do not know what happened at the first summit. Our only source for those two hours is Trump, the purveyor of fake news. He has lied so much, most Americans are not willing to believe anything he says. Trump did his talking at the news conference and that is enough. His rejection of American intelligence in favor Putin was treasonous.

From Putin's point of view, he got what he wanted at the Helsinki summit. The American President embarrassed himself and is reviled at home for his treason. Why give Trump a chance at a redo at his house? Particularly, when Trump says things like this. Trump vowed Thursday that if his dealings with Russian leader Vladimir Putin don't "work out, I'll be the worst enemy he's ever had." Putin would be foolish to accept the invitation. He knows the problems Trump caused at home, and he is thrilled. Why in the world give Trump a second chance?

Trump talks big when Putin and a bevy of savvy reporters are not around. When it counted, Trump was a coward. Putin is quite pleased. Let it go at that.

Because of the acrimony toward him caused by Trump's disgraceful performance, Putin knows he is not welcome to America. He knows Trump's own party is telling him that. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan said they have no intention of inviting Russian President Vladimir Putin to address Congress.

The media still has not learned. This invitation is bogus, a farce, another one of Trump's red herrings, this time to get the media to talk about something other than his treasonous performance on Monday. Yet, the invitation is all over the media. The "fake news media," as Trump likes to call it, is doing his dirty work for him.

It's a distraction. I don't think T has extended an invitation to P because he knows P will not come.

For, at least, 3 reasons: first he knows it would be considered provocative and he wouldn't be welcome; second, he knows T would brag about it as an implicit acceptance by P of the re-cooked (spiced with that "sort of double negative" explanation) version of the Helsinki debacle; third, T was submissive beyond expectation in Helsinki, so why would P take the risk of jeopardizing any of his huge advantage?

Let's not forget P is a shrewd guy! That is obvious when you listen to long and articulate interviews he sometimes gives on various media; nothing comparable to the "fantastic, tremendous, bad, very bad, disgraceful" etc... uttered by our "stable genius".

Outstanding, thank you. Yeah, it is just another red herring. It is a common practice for Trump and his lawyers, especially Giuliani.

No way is Putin going to accept. Putin has Trump over a barrel. Stupidly, Trump wanted a secret session with Putin. That was unbelievably ill-advised, meaning it was against the advice of Trump's advisors.

Knowing how the former KGB agent operates, I am reasonably certain Putin has a recording of their two hour private meeting. On the other hand, the Americans are in the dark. Our SecState, SecDef, Trump's NSA, Trump's DNI, and the Pentagon have no idea what took place in that meeting, and the White House is silent on the subject. But Putin knows.

Russia can put its own spin on what took place, and there is not a damn thing we can do about it. All this because of Trump's naive, brainless request with which Putin was happy to comply.

Republicans keep telling us we will find out sooner or later what took place. That is a remarkably imbecilic viewpoint. The translator will not tell us. That is not her job and a subpoena, forcing her to testify, would be setting a horrible precedent. That leaves Donald. Only Donald can tell us what he talked about.

Going back to June 2015 when Donald announced his candidacy, he has not been able to give us a straight story in three years. He is proud of his ability to lie. He calls it "truthful hyperbole," and it is a tactic he uses on a daily basis.

Yeah, sure, we will find out what Trump agreed to. It will be Trump's version of truthful hyperbole.

Why in the world would Putin throw away this advantage by accepting an invitation to Trump's house?

Once again, Trump thinks all Americans have the intellectual capacity of his fan base.

Trump loyalist, House Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy, chastised Donald Trump for inviting Russian President Vladimir Putin to Washington, saying Sunday that some members of the President's administration should consider quitting if Trump won't listen to their advice.

    Wow!

“It can be proven beyond any evidentiary burden that Russia is not our friend and they tried to attack us in 2016,” Gowdy told host Bret Baier. “So the president either needs to rely on the people that he has chosen to advise him, or those advisers need to reevaluate whether or not they can serve in this administration. But the disconnect cannot continue.”

    Double wow!

Trump's red herring -- the invitation to Putin for a second summit -- is backfiring on him. Americans are now wise to this infantile tactic. He used it once too often.

The incompetent Trump is begging to be impeached.

Here is, with a touch of imagination, the main points of the Helsinki secret conversation:

D: Hey Vlad, any news about my T Tower permit application?

V: It is being considered, Don.

D: When will you give it your (orthodox) blessing, then?

V: I first need to know what I get in return.

D: Well, for starters, you can keep Crimea and Eastern Ukraine.

    V: And?

D: You can continue to bombard Syrian population, but don't use chemical weapons; it's a bit embarrassing, plus they are less efficient.

V: You know I didn't use chemical weapons, so shut up!

    D: Yes, I know Vlad.

    V: And?

    D: Wadaya mean and?

V: I can do those things without your consent, you know.

D: Sure, but I promise not to utter a word of protest.

V: Well, you better not, but I need more.

    D: I'll fire Mueller.

V: I don't have a problem with Mueller, Don, YOU have a problem with Mueller.

D: Vlad, you can invade or crush any shithole country in the world, I will stay put.

V: OK then, I'll think about the Tower.

D: Vlad, will you come to Washington in September so that we can celebrate that together?

    V: We'll see...

D: Come on Vlad, I need you badly. My fans are crazy about you. It's gone viral! It's FANTASTIC!

Ha! Ha! Ha! The White House is now saying there won't be another Summit this year! Pity, no repeat of the Helsinki 'triumph" in sight!

That invitation was just another Trump red herring to get the media to stop talking about the missing two hours of negotiations. Putin played along and invited Trump to Moscow. It's just a game and Putin is enjoying himself immensely as the President of the U.S. squirms.

As each day goes by it is becoming more and more clear that there were no agreements made during the missing two hours of negotiations at Trump's request. They may have been discussed, but did not come up with any agreements on Ukraine, Crimea, Syria, Iran, or Russian interference in our elections. Even if Trump made some ludicrous concessions like he did at Singapore, they are invalid because the American government has no record of the concessions.

Yet, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, a master of diplomatic verbosity and sardonic barbs, summed up the results of the Helsinki summit in just three exuberant words: "better than super." So, what was discussed at this secret meeting Trump requested?

Logic, but no hard evidence, dictates they discussed the means by which Putin is able to extort the President of the United States. This, perhaps, involves money laundering, connections to the Russian mafia, and the ease with which the Trump Organization was able to borrow money from Russian sources. Trump may have wanted to know what was expected of him and/or how long the extortion would last.

For more on this see https://www.cbc.ca/radio/day6/episo...are-his-biggest-legal-vulnerability-1.4646401

It would appear that Putin told Trump to toe to the party line. First, he had to reject American intelligence and accept Putin's word that Russia did not interfere in the 2016 election. That is exactly what Trump did at the news conference with Putin.

Next, he had to blame his own country for the strained relations between the U.S. and Russia. Trump did exactly that at the news conference.

That is why Lavrov said the Helsinki summit went "better than super."
