Unlike all those mentioned in your post, Jews are not a religious group. Jews are a nation. The Jewish state is the state of the Jewish nation, not of the Jewish religion, just like Japan is the state of the Japanese nation, not of the Shinto religion. Funny though how nobody seems to have a problem with Japan being the state of a religious group, even though some 80% of the Japanese are Shinto and this is the national Japanese religion, unique to the Japanese people.
