I wonder if the reasoning for delaying will ever come to light....

Well that's all kinds of BS. He could have notified the Gang of 8 and not had to worry.

You are distorting my claim. The WH did inform Congress, within the 48 hour deadline required by the War Powers Act, but there are numerous requirements for the inclusion of specific details, which were apparently neglected (can't say for sure, since the entire message was classified). So, I'd say whether or not they fulfilled the requirements of the Act or not is questionable. The 2002 Authorization for the Use of Military Force has worn a bit thin, since it was intended to be used in our pursuit of the 9/11 attackers Al Qaeda. International Law, I've cited, in regard to the host country being responsible for Embassy security.
The Iranians aren't ISIS. In fact, they have helped the Syrians and Iraqis fight ISIS. ISIS is apparently the successor to Al Qaeda and presumably the ATUMF would still apply to an ISIS bomb shop in the mountains of Afghanistan, although I can't imagine us taking action without coordinating such with the Afghan government.

Will the reason for the withholding of appropriated funding for Ukraine ever come to light? Apparently, not if Mitch McConnell has anything to say about it. Trump's modus operandi seems to be to create chaos and never let the left hand of his organization know what the right hand of the organization is doing. This keeps everyone guessing and more dependent on his whim of the moment. He views consistency as a personal restraint.

Hmmm? I also just read a story from "The New Yorker" that claims the President of Iraq told the Iraqi Parliament a week before the drone attack that killed Soleimani, that he was coming to Baghdad to deliver Iran's message to the Iraqis to pass onto the Saudis regarding the Iraqi efforts to bring the Saudis and Iranians together. I find that difficult to believe, but it should be relatively easy to check, assuming their Parliamentary sessions are recorded.
Did the Saudis lure Soleimani to a meeting that offered us the opportunity to kill him? Where have I heard that before? But, I would think Soleimani would be much more careful in taking meetings with the Saudis than was Khashoggi.
The same article points to Pence, Pompeo and Haspel as the principal adherents pushing for an assassination of Soleimani. Deep State Meets Deeper State?

I didn't place all blame on Trump, but stated the fact that he doesn't consider the consequences of his actions. No rule on this forum says that I have to be civil to Trump.

Apologies if my tone offended you, but so many on this thread were completely dismissive of the fact that 176 innocent people were killed because of all this sabre rattling and blatant dick waving that I let some anger vent.

You write "Why do they support Terrorist?" and expect everyone to recognize it as sarcasm? There are right wing pundits as well as prominent congressional Republicans using that phrase, but I'm supposed to know that you, someone I've never met, is just kidding?

Add to that insulting snarkiness of your reply, and you sound just exactly like the other know-it-all conservatives here, too cowardly to own up.

Obama had been keeping Congress informed of the progress towards locating OBL all along.

Do you need an explanation of the terms "take action" and "covert action"?

Trump forgot that the Iranian will retaliate, found himself very flimsy with his words about targeting the 52 Iranian sites he pronounced beforehand and the jeopardy faced by the US forces in Iraq having no missile attack protection at all. Not a good act of a supposed most powerful man in the world.
