The young flee Israel because it is a ‘failure’ and ‘xenophobic theocracy’ — ‘Haaretz’ columnist

An amazing piece on the Israeli reality,(*)by Neri Livneh in Haaretz, reflecting on what a failure it is, how the best young people are leaving. She connects this to Israel’s constitution as a Jewish state, in which Jews are superior to others, and to Yair Lapid’s belief that there is nowhere else in the world for Jews but Israel. The cul-de-sac. Note her lament that she lost a horrifying number of classmates to war. To produce a xenophobic theocracy.

Why isn’t this kind of piece on the cover of the New York Times Magazine?

I’m going to Berlin because some of the people who are dearest to me in this world live there. I don’t know how long they’ll continue living there, but I know that if I were their age, I’d move there myself, or to some other country worthy of being called a democracy and in which there is a complete separation of religion and state. But at this point, I’ll remain in Israel, for as the German poet wrote: “You can make a new start, even with your last breath, but the water you have poured into the wine you cannot pour back out.”

I went to all the right demonstrations, I wrote all the right things, I voted the right way, I did my part, and like a good Zionist woman, I went to the army. I became an officer, I lost a horrifying number of classmates as well as a few relatives in the Yom Kippur War, I got married, I had three terrific sons, I made sure they wore their gas masks and sang them cheerful songs, I lived with them in Jerusalem in the heart of the area hit by terror attacks and, because they said it was important, I tried not to get hysterical. And what did we get in the end? A country in which the only ones who can hope for something are those who believe in the morality of being an occupying nation or in the superiority of the Jews over all other peoples ‏(and there is overlap between the two groups‏), who want to live in a xenophobic theocracy, with a government in which the politicians − like(*)Benjamin Netanyahu,(*)Naftali Bennett(*)and(*)Yair Lapid(*)− ask not what they can do for the citizenry but what the citizenry can do for the state

The young are fleeing from Muslim threats, violence and bullying in Israel. Israel already has more than one million Muslims and the amount increases by the hour. Pretty soon there will be more Muslims in Israel than white Israelis.

'Heart-drain' diary: The option of leaving Israel

It was 2:00 AM when we arrived at St. Pancras station. 2:00 AM London time is 4:00 AM Tel Aviv time, and we were certainly still on Tel Aviv time. In a way, we were still in Tel Aviv altogether, or perhaps somewhere in between the two – in the cold sky over Bulgaria or Slovakia. The soul is said to be chasing the body when it is taken away by a jet plane. It only catches up with it
    several days later.

Israel is losing its educated, concerned young generation to other countries, ironically: mostly to Germany. The new emigrants (let’s call them “newgoers”) are different from emigrants of decades past, termed “Descenders” in Zionist lingo, which views Israel as elevated above the rest of the world. While the descenders of the ’70s and ’80s were motivated for the most part by economic factors, the newgoers are often driven by a dread of Israeli politics and a sense that they no longer belong in Israel. It is a sense that our government gladly reinforces, mainly via supporting legislation that delegitimizes dissent.

We stepped into a cab and were surprised by how roomy it was, as well as by the fact that it was driven by a lady, an uncommon sight around our own neighborhood. The air outside the cab was chilly and smelled of large trees and fried food, inside was a unique, inimitable, London cab smell. We were in an environment entirely foreign to us yet felt instantly very much at home. For an Ashkenazi Israeli, Europe will always be a home of sorts. The soul of our nation apparently hasn’t yet caught up with Zionism. It is still on its way from the grassy knolls of our grandparents’ homelands, baffled to behold us flying the other direction in Easy Jet planes.

Our longing for Europe’s mix of the familiar and the exotic grows, the more hopeless Israel’s situation becomes. The rise of fascism, the growing disregard for human rights, the gradual disappearance of our freedom of speech, all of these cause concerned young Israelis, whether Ashkenazi or otherwise, to reconsider their future on the soil of the Holy Land and look west

The story is bull(*)(*)(*)(*). The young have always moved out, either across the street or across the world, it's their function and destiny.

I too moved about 8,000 miles when I was 19. So?

    Read and weep losers LOL

Israel’s emigration rate among lowest in developed world

Despite Finance Minister Yair Lapid's criticism of Israelis who move abroad, he can take comfort that Israel’s emigration rate is at near-record low.

Nothing to do with the Palestinian indigenous people in Palestine.

They leave because some have a conscience and cannot stomach the fascist Zionist Regimes Apartheid and human rights abuses!

Isn't that exactly what JFK said in his inaugural address in 1961 - 'And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.' LOL, the woman in the OP is seriously misguided, so is the OP.

So it will return to how it was? Perhaps the Palestinians will finally be free to return home.

    I approve.

Maybe if the people who want to come across the border didnt wear suicide jackets they would be more open.

Berlin is a wonderful place if you are cold and dreary and like your climate the same way. Except the people who work in government. Super friendly over there. It is topsy turvy world. The exact opposite of America. Indifferent waitresses, (no wonder they aren't accustomed to tipping), and wonderfully friendly airport security. It is nuts.

When you give a link it would be useful to give one that can tell you something about the subject ,That being said you are talking Rubbish ,your link is Useless.

And it is so convenient that this article appears ,we call that Government propaganda as Particularly the Israeli media is the most censored in the World ,INDEPENDENT sources are always required when Israel is mentioned.

Israel doesn't have a Free Press ,it has a Zionist One.

Oh and could we have the nukes that they are hiding destroyed, as weapons of Mass destruction.

Its ok a lie of a nation must be defended with lies ,you have no other choice ,see this is what is being said by a scientist who is outside Israel ,and could you please tell Mossad to stop playing with my Internet connection everytime, I criticise Israel

    Its so well ANTI-DEMOCRATIC!

    http://www.firstpost.com/world/nobel-prize-sparks-brain-drain-debate-in-israel-1165565.html

See what I mean trust nothing a Israeli says, until proven otherwise, particularly one that lives in Israel, and works for the Media.

PS Its the Scientific community that is particularly leaving Israel and the Most God Nutter State in the world!

Is it true that they snip off Babies Penis's in some barbaric ,Primitive Religious Ceremony ,No wonder scientists can't stomach such a culturally Backward place !

Where Men in Funny hats rule !

I am often left to wonder if the islamification of Israel isn't be design. In fact, I am reading that muslim populations are increasing in a lot of White countries where the average White would prefer there were absolutely no muslims.

You Jew Haters don't speak for Israelis. No Jew would ever waste their time asking you to break away from your StormFront meetings to discuss how things work in Israel.

Suicide bombings stopped in Palestine years ago, and since they are not happening have no consequences in Palestine.

Certainly, they do not explain the exodus from the sinking Zionist ship.

I do not read StormFront or Zionazi sites like those operated by the Zionazis David Horowitz or Pam Geller or their ilk, either.

The articles I discussed were written by Israelis in Israel.
