    Self defense is one purpose. Hunting, sport shooting, collecting are some other reasons. It's completely idiotic, not to mention counterproductive, to claim that anyone who owns a gun does so to kill children. What's even more idiotic is to claim that people have a RIGHT to kill children.

    According to Congress, for "...hunting, trapshooting, target shooting, personal protection, or any other lawful activity”. See "Gun Control Act of 1968.

    Do you realize that these studies are based on a false proxy for "gun ownership", which has nothing to do with "increased gun availability".

    From 1986 to 2019, the number of guns in the US increased by 270 million guns, tripling the number of guns available in the US. The homicide rate over that same time period fell 42%.

    This is how they argue it's sometimes hard to pick out satire from reality.

    That's why in among all of these comments this satirist used idiotic statements people made.

    It's worth a good laugh and it's a reminder that we need to make fun of these people.

    Over the last two years, perhaps. The gun suicide rate continues to grow, slowly. Since 1999 the non-firearm suicide rate has grown much faster since 1999.

    According to Brown University filicide studies, parents and step-parents kill 300 children a year with just their bare hands.

    I guess you care more about your rights to own something that deprives them of that.

    It would take a police state in the US to ensure that no child dies from someone using a firearm. Should we give up every right if the government feels that they infringe on a child's "right to life"? The Fourth would be a good candidate.

    I am concerned about classroom full.

    you demonstrate a complete and total vacancy of understanding about the term rights.     BAN THE SALE OF GUNS. ALL GUNS.
    You have no need of them.
    Though I have to say from what I know of the police in Texas they might be necessary there for a while longer.
    Why do you think they are necessary in the US and the ROW gets on better without them??
    BECAUSE OF THAT PART OF THE CONSTITUTION.
    Protect your children. Ban sales of guns .
    Tell the NRA to eff off. Tell those politicians who eat their bread to earn a crust honestly.
    sigh

    Still if you don't care about your children and all the other people hurt or killed by guns, why should I?
    After all they are worth more than an insurance policy.

    And here again. What countries other than China, North Korea and Venezuela have done this?

    What good would a ban do?
    If we should give up one right to show that we want to protect children, we should give up them all. Just tear up the Bill of Rights.

    We should stop driving until we can get full NASCAR safety gear into the hands of parents.

    No 4th Amendment protections for any type of device used by sex traffickers or pedophiles.
