While the original poster of the threads regarding pornography didn't seem to be genuinely interested in open discussion and debate, the topic itself is a worthy one.

What are people's thoughts regarding Pornography? Are you for it? Against it? Believe that the people involved are there willingly? Believe that they're somehow coerced into it and have a hard time escaping?

It's a very complicated subject. Before I get into the participants of pornography, I'll talk about the consumers and distributors.

I believe pornography should be legal and accessible but not too easily and regulated. So weather it is an adult store or the Internet, it is important that people cannot randomly stumble into porn. Pornography should be available to the consumer because there are people who simply do not have a satisfying sex life. It's necessary to sate urges because suppressing them could lead to results nobody wants. I'll leave it at that. But pornography should not satisfy ALL desires. Brutal forms of sadomasochism should be banned.

As for the participants, well I am supportive of legalizing and regulating prostitution so I don't have a problem with people performing porn. Sadly both prostitution and pornography can lead to some very abusive practices like human trafficking. Which is why certain rules and precautions need to be taken for both so that these abuses do not happen. Also there need to be health related regulations to stop sexually transmitted diseases.

About the participants. I think it's sad that some people get to a point of desperation that they need to perform pornography. But if it leads to other prospects of a better life for themselves or their families, then the option should be available. Provided of course they see an end date to what they are doing. As for those who enjoy it or have not come out of desperation but merely because it's what they are good at, well I would wish those people all the best.

First I think we can make out two kind of pornography :
    Drawn pornography
    and
    Filmed/photographed one.

The drawn one doesn't imply any actor and so no woman or man have to actually have sex against money.

Many feminists are against pornography because they consider it degrading for women, some of them seems to consider sex as degrading, however many porn actress claim to do it willingly. If they're willing, why should we forbid it ?
Furthermore it's one of the rare domain women are paid 2 to 3 times more than men.

What do you mean by "brutal"? As a member of the BDSM community, although I personally don't do the more heavier plays, I know plenty or women, and men too, who proudly show off their bruises. The more livid the better. If we are ensuring that those participating in such porn are doing so willingly, then why shouand we ban it. At best, I could see a regulation that before and after filming they film the participants, with them saying that they are willingly doing this and how much they enjoyed it afterwards, especially if it is a role play scene as well.

It's not mandatory, but a lot of porn sites do that. One site that has a number of daughter sites does just that. You see the participants in the middle of the sessions and while it's going on they look like heck. Unless one were familiar with BDSM and/or other kink lifestyles, one might think that it's abuse.

But in the last scene afterwards, the subjects talk about what happened and typically look like they enjoyed themselves. And they're expressing how much they enjoyed what happened...with the odd "I didn't like this bit too much, it really didn't do anything for me, but it wasn't enough to make me want to stop the scene."

Where do you think I got the idea from? As I said, while it isn't mandatory now, I could go with a regulation requireing it.

So long as all participants are consenting, why?

To some degree I'm sure they prey on vulnerable women, drug addicts, runaways, etc just as normal pimps do.

To what degree that is, I'm unsure.

I don't know. I've heard some feminists say women are the ones who are exploited so we should ban all porn containing women.
(Interesting idea, although it goes against the concept of gender equality)

Some people might not know this but the U.S. actually does ban porno containing extremely disgusting acts (pooping into someone's mouth) although it's not always consistently enforced. Also porn that involves animals being injured is illegal.

The post just above this one gives some examples of porn that should be banned.

Fisting should banned. It leads to hideous prolapse. Also my brother told me once about a scene involving molten candle wax. I'd have that banned.

I really wish I could share some pictures from a certain kink forum website. There are tons of wax scene pictures that are beautiful. There is one picture I've seen recently that the different colors of wax formed a Wonder Woman costume.

It has the pain/pleasure aspect as well as an artistic element.

I as well as many others that I know would love to see that session from start to finish. Why should that be banned?

Glad you are opening up the darkest corners of your mind! *sigh* Must I give you the details? At the risk of breaking forum rules: would you hold a burning candle tilted over a woman's... reproductive tool?

OK, I don't this video is breaking rules, but anyway, sexual desire can be a broad subject.

they are a very, very small portion of the population. There is no form of regulation done to them that will affect the spread of sexually transmitted disease in any statistically significant manner

I tend to believe in freedom and people should be able to live their lives and earn their money the way they want to. People get paid to do porn because that is more financially viable than alternatives. If you take that away then you are just hurting people who are just trying to make a living. If I as a person choose to look at porn then why should you try to stop or limit my personal actions? What gives you the right to tell other individuals what work they can't do like pornography or what content they can publish as free speech?

Most of the opposition to pornography comes from religious folks who often see sex as somewhat sinful and many of them think it shouldn't be done for fun even in marriage. Porn is very enjoyable for many people and especially if they have a high sex drive it gives them an outlet instead of doing it excessively in real life. Sexual pleasure isn't morally wrong and its like any other type of entertainment and we need to break this ridiculous taboo. Some people misuse or overuse porn but the same can be said for anything else like beer, food, computers, tv, etc.

I think it is pretty clear by now that the VAST majority of people involved in pornography are doing so willingly. If you dig and research hard enough you might find someone who claims to have been coerced into it in some fashion but such rare exceptions will be very very hard to find.

How happy people in the industry are with their choices is open to debate as there are only anecdotes. Some have spoken out claiming they hate themselves and feel degraded for getting involved in it while others completely disagree. I think in general many people involved in it would rather be doing something else but there is no other job for them to make as much money as fast and they are ok with what they are doing so they go ahead with it and make their pile. No different than any other job really.

Some superstars make a LOT of money and then bail . Such as Sasha Gray, Belladonna, Jenna Haze and many others. Each of them is a multi millionaire and left after getting very rich over a few years time.

Other such as Nina Hartley seem to like the industry enough that they stick with it for many decades even moving into production and direction and writing books.

I have seen some point out that a number of porn stars have suffered from drug addiction and even died of overdose or suicide. This is true that many have but in comparison to say the music industry or hollywood in general I am not sure if it is that unusual or if the numbers are all that high statistically.

It is well regulated and even self regulated. Many in the industry remember the name Traci Lords who nearly brought the whole thing down when she became a superstar while lying about her age. Turns out she was under 18 while making many pornographic movies. When the truth came out it nearly wrecked the entire industry. Those who continued make such movies became VERY cautious about what they do which is one reason why it would be very difficult to find anyone coerced into it.

If it makes opponents of pornography feel any better it turns out that the industry is somewhat in decline. There is no much available online for free that anyone who wants it can get it all they like and as a result the industry has peaked. Basically there are few new customers to reach and profits are in decline.

Porn actresses are paid more than male actors. This is reverse discrimination.

Yes, if that was what she enjoys and we have negotiated that in the pre-session discussion that defines what everyone involved wants to happen, what they're willing to give a try, and what they consider a hard limit and they don't want to happen. In the lifestyle, consent is everything.

And yes, my wife and I have engaged in wax play.

Wax play is not as scary as a lot of people think it is. It falls under the category of sensation play. Yes we're dripping hot wax onto a willing subject, but we're not burning them. In fact...if we have burned them then we did something wrong.

The melting temp of pure paraffin is 120 degrees. The addition of a colorant brings the wax up to 124 degrees. We let children play with wax at that temperature at the "cast your hands in wax" stations at renn fests and at Yankee Candle stores.

We further adjust the temperature by the distance the wax falls. Closer and the wax doesn't cool as much so might hit at about 118 degrees. Further away and the wax has time to cool even more and might hit around 110 degrees.

Your average Hot Water Heater is set around 120-140 degrees.

The sensation comes from the unexpected feeling of the hot wax hitting skin where it further cools on contact. It's the sensation of the heat without it being hot enough to damage the skin. Often it's done on a willingly bound and blindfolded subject and the thrill is the sensations they're subjected to while helpless and at the mercy of their partner.

So with that in mind, is wax play a form of porn that needs to be banned? After all, no one is getting hurt and the porn studio that films that isn't going to do that on everyone, just those models who are willing to submit to that in return for a paycheck.

I might be willing to concede wax play. But there are many more practices that should never be on film as one person pointed out (poop, hurt animals etc.) and as I pointed out fisting.

This will get complicated so follow me closely. Yes porn is primarily for people who have unfulfilling sex lives. Perhaps they are not having sex at all or their partner is not willing to partake of some of their specific desires. However in the event of them transitioning to a fulfilling sex life, certain practices should not be encouraged by having them on film. What they do behind closed doors is their business. But the porn industry should not be telling them that it's OK. Example: fisting leads to prolapse. If someone wants to destroy their innards in private, the government cannot stop it. However, third parties should not provide imagery saying that it's OK.

Are you saying fisting should be banned period or just within porn? And then within porn do we ban the actual fisting or even simulated fisting as well. Outside of it, how would you even enforce such a ban?

Ok your use of the word "molten" is interesting. Wax play can be very fun and safe. The biggest thing is to be aware of the wax you are using. Beeswax has an extremely high melting point and should never be used unless you want to use it on your self to deliberately get bad burns. Paraffin wax, on the other hand, is quite safe in its liquid form a it has a very low melting temperature. That is my preferred wax to use. Be careful when adding dyes or perfumes as they can raise the melting point. After that it is a matter of knowing how hot someone likes it, much like different people like their showers hotter than others.

Been there done that, and she had a blast! I've had it done to my junk as well. Ironically enough, even on the genitals it can be overall very relaxing. I highly recommend taking paraffin wax and pouring along your back, especially if you have sore muscles. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes before pealing it off. Even that is pleasurable. The coolest and oddest sensation is when the little riverletts of wax tha t flow down your sides are pulled off.

My wife and I both watch porn. Often times it gives us ideas to try.

I'm sure that there are some people like that, but you'd be surprised at the numbers of people who enjoy porn as sexually active couples.

And who gets to make that decision? Who gets to pick and choose what can and can not be displayed? After all, there are CongressCritters out there who are of the belief that Sex is evil and if there was some magical way that conception could happen without bumping uglies...they'd make sex illegal in favor of that. Granted that is the extreme side of it...but we have seen those ultra conservatives out there who think sex for fun is a sin and that we need to keep people from doing it.

First of all how do you define fisting? Sure, anal fisting can (not will) lead to prolapse. But that's not the only type of fisting. If you ban one under the broad definition of fisting...you're banning the other type that doesn't lead to rectal prolapse.

Read my previous post. Just within porn and explains my justification for banning certain practices within porn.

As for enforcement: have a new branch of government enforcement. Have a person with a badge LITERALLY in the room/outdoor area watching whatever porn is produced and making sure they are following specific guidelines. The best job in the world! Just for the lager companies though. Amateur porn can only be scrutinized after it has been made.

Yeah saw that. Like most people, I respond to posts as I encounter them, so I didn't see that when I made the response to the earlier post.

I was asking about enforcement outside of porn, but as noted you were only stating inside of it. But you do bring up a point. How do you enforce amateur porn, that which people film and just post anonymously to the net, usually with no financial compensation?
