NSW's Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has been playing phone taps between former premier Gladys Berejiklian, and her secret boyfriend Daryl Maguire, who was also an MP. The calls have shed light on what Ms Berejiklian could have known about her ex's dealings, and whether she breached public trust due to the undeclared relationship with the disgraced former Member for Wagga Wagga. It's all part of a probe into Ms Berejiklian's conduct, which has already lasted two weeks and is going to extend into a third. The former premier began giving evidence today and several phone taps have already been played. __________________________________ See here for the transcripts: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10...n-berejiklian-and-maguire-explained/100581134 Two things shocked me. How transparent the process is. Go Straya! And secondly, I'm shocked that someone who comes across as a good, intelligent woman could fall for such a slime bag. But my personal feelings aside, it does look like she pulled strings for this guy. However, being prudent we don't have any recordings of how she deals with other disgruntled members who call her up and complain. Perhaps this kind of thing goes on all the time in politics, "lovers" or not? We will probably never know, but I think her undeniable mistake and error of judgement was not disclosing the relationship.
The Guardian mirrors what my suggestion. This is normal political practice! Christ https://www.theguardian.com/austral...t-only-for-exposing-normal-political-practice
Yep, it is easy to see why the Federal LNP wants no part of of an ICAC. They know that half the Cabinet will have to resign & a few might end up in jail.
