5 of VP Pence's top aides, including his right-hand man, have contracted C19.

Pence is still planning to attend the Senate vote tomorrow, enraging even Mitch McDonnell and his rotting hand.

SPAIN has declared a national emergency, is going on full-curfew starting this evening.

If that doesn't work, then Spain will go on a very draconian lockdown.

Meanwhile the uptick in hospitalizations (and predictably since it's always 2-week delayed) the beginning of an uptick in deaths, shows that the US is indeed going into a third wave and it's not because of increased testing (the deniers' favorite excuse).

My concern is that there could be a 4th and 5th wave/surge before we have an effective vaccine distributed among enough of the population to contain the virus. The 1918 pandemic waves occurred over a period of 2+ years. These 3 waves/surges are all within an 8 month period. That does not bode well if we have another 6 months or longer to go without a vaccine.

To my understanding, in an effort to implement several draconian measures, Spanish politicians have/will have to legislate the powers they need to override their constitution????

    The Perfect Storm;

Last Flu season (2018 - 2019), near 500,000 citizens were hospitalized over 7 months, and its peak months; December, January, and February.

    Let’s assume 2020 - 2021 flu season will end up hospitalizing 300,000 citizens over 7 months, here’s a peak model; 20, 40, 60, 60, 60, 40, 20.

Last two Covid19 waves; “Current hospitalized” peaked at near 60,000, and peaked two months after our Southern’s surges.

Exactly. And this is, if the vaccines succeed and the virus doesn't mutate. Already we have several confirmed cases of second infection in the same person. But I want to remain optimistic about vaccines.

True but the one good thing is that it's not excluded that we'll have a milder flu season precisely because at least part of the population has been wearing masks and social distancing. These measures work to contain the flu too, which is actually less contagious than Covid-19.

PERMANENT DISCLAIMER -AND- 4-RUBRIK WORKSHEET IN LIEU OF WALL-OF-TEXT

Pre-analysis tables for the Sunday of the week ending on 2020-10-025 (GMT +0 - Greenwich / 20:00 EDT) / Worldwide & top 8 nations:

As indicated 4 weeks ago: only releasing barebones data for the worldwide figures and the top 8 nations (all over 1,000,000 cases) throughout the week. I will let the tables and screenshots pretty much speak for themselves and you can interpret them for yourselves as you wish. Also, directly before the Sunday reports, these tables are very helpful. With each passing week, I will add somewhat more detail.

As of the coming week, 3 more nations will be added to the tracking: Peru, Mexico and UK, all three of which are speeding toward 900,000 right now.

This will be the new daily format apart from EOW (End of Week) / EOM / EOY analyses and it saves me a LOT of time. Wishing you all a good new week.

COVID-19 worldwide statistical analysis for the week of 2020-10-019 through 2020-10-025
    (GMT +0 - Greenwich = 20:00 EDT):

    ֍֍֍֍*** 43,325,816 ***֍֍֍֍
A record-shattering +3,061,594 cases over the Sunday before.
THE WORLD WENT OVER 41, 42 and 43 MILLION TOTAL CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASES WITHIN THIS WEEK

+3,061,594 new C19 cases over the week before (it was +2,527,349 the week before).
    TOTAL C19 cases: 165 nations with 1,000+, 110 with 10,000+, 71 with 50,000+, 48 with 100,000+, 8 with 1,000,000+

There have now been 1,158,917 COVID-19 deaths worldwide, +40,750 of them occured in this week (+39,917 the week before).
    ---------------------------------------------------------

Worldwide WEEKLY rolling averages: record-shattering +437,371 new C19 cases per day / +5,821 deaths per day
+5,780 US-American, +3,794 Indian, +3,258 Brazilian, +2,684 Mexican & +2,629 Argentinian new deaths were recorded in this week.
The number of serious/critical (ICU) cases worldwide: 77,727 (+5,755 over the week before)

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    STAT'S EXCEL-TABLE:

It was a huge newsweek on the COVID-19 front...foremost that the world is now jumping 1 million C19 cases in somewhat more than every 2.25 days. Also big news is the fact the the world jumped over +500,000 cases for the first time and stayed over +400,000 cases for 5 days in a row, from Wednesday through Sunday.

Also, the USA set a new record and went over +80,000 cases two days in a row.
Also, France set a +case record for Europe.

Also, in this week, the number of nations with over 1,000,000 total C19 cases jumped from 4 to.... 8, with Spain, Argentina, France and Colombia crossing over the 1,000,000-line in the same week.

Also very disheartening is that Germany (where I live and work) crossed over the 10,000-death line.

If you compare the weekly average of this week before to the preceeding week, you will see that the average +daily cases rose considerably (+437,371 vs +361,050 the week before, a significant jump) and the average deaths also rose (+5,274 the week before to +5,821 now). +437,371 C19 cases per day = 304 fresh infections PER MINUTE.

There can be no doubt about it: the 2nd major wave for the entire world is now here.

    2020-10-025 COVID-19 EOD Worldwide 009 - rubrik worktable.png

By clicking on the hyperlink (in the title), you can learn to interpret the worksheet. You can see that for the entire week, there were 23 nation-rubrik changes, 10 more than the week before: Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Argentina, Libya, Hungary, Costa Rica, Switzerland, France, Jordan, Colombia, Lithuania, Tunisia, Palestine, Bulgaria, Guadelupe, Somalia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Trinidad & Tobago, Slovakia, Myanmar, Germany and Uganda.

The way the rubrik table is presented, you can easily (and mathematically) see how the week has developed until its end.

Total cases per country, descending (this time, countries with circa +1,000 C19 cases and above):
    2020-10-025 COVID-19 EOD Worldwide 001 - total cases.png
    2020-10-025 COVID-19 EOD Worldwide 002 - total cases.png
    2020-10-025 COVID-19 EOD Worldwide 003 - total cases.png
    2020-10-025 COVID-19 EOD Worldwide 004 - total cases.png

India, which passed Brazil in total cases exactly seven Sundays ago, is now +2,514,922 (the Sunday before: +2,312,892) cases ahead of Brazil and -980,129 (the Sunday before: -839,561) cases behind the USA. As you can see, India has long crossed over the 2/3 point between the USA and Brazil and is now far less cases behind the USA than it is ahead of Brazil.

In terms of the countries with the most new cases:

Actually, when you only see weekly reports, the +cases for just one day doesn't make a lot of sense, because Sundays tend to be a lot lighter than the middle of the week, and that skews our senses. Nonethless, I have decided to present the Sunday +cases this time around by continent, in descending order of +cases:

The USA had the most cases for any one individual nation, by far, but France surprised and with +52,010, was rank 2 in the +cases. And overall, a large plurality of the +cases on this Sunday were driven by Europe, a very bad warning sign for the USA in the coming weeks.

In terms of total deaths per country, descending:
    2020-10-025 COVID-19 EOD Worldwide 005 - total deaths.png
    2020-10-025 COVID-19 EOD Worldwide 006 - total deaths.png

    The top 4:

USA, total deaths: 230,510 / 19.89% of worldwide deaths (20.10% on the Sunday before). The USA is currently expected to hit 250,000 deaths Mid-November, 2020.

Brazil, total deaths: 157,163 / 13.56% of worldwide deaths (13.76% on the Sunday before). Extrapolated 200,000 death date, based on the daily average of 657 deaths per day, from 2020-10-014 = New Years Day 2021.

India, total deaths: 119,030 / 10.27% of worldwide deaths (10.25% on the Sunday before). India will likely go over 200,000 C19 deaths around January 12, 2021.

Mexico, total deaths: 88,743 / 7.66% of worldwide deaths (7.70% on the Sunday before). No extrapolation for 100,000 deaths quite yet.

Combined (595,446), the top four nations currently represent 51.81% of all total deaths in the world to-date (was also 51.81% the day before).

In terms of the countries with the most daily deaths:
    No graphic this time.

In terms of Total Tests administered per country:

    2020-10-025 COVID-19 EOD Worldwide 007 - total tests.png
    2020-10-025 COVID-19 EOD Worldwide 008 - total tests.png

    63
nations have now administered more than 1 million tests apiece, with New Zealand and Luxembourg having crossed the 1,000,000 during this last week; of those 63, 12 nations have performed more than 10 million apiece: China, the USA, Russia, UK, India, Brazil, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Turkey and UAE.

END-FACIT: Logistical case growth, not exponential, but still, we are accumulating a huge number of C19 cases per day.

COVID-19 in the USA: statistical analysis for for for the week of 2020-10-019 through 2020-10-025
    (GMT +0 - Greenwich = 20:00 EDT):

    ******** 8,889,179 ********
THE USA WILL GO OVER 9,000,000 TOTAL CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASES IN THIS CURRENT WEEK.

A record-shattering +501,380 new COVID-19 cases over the week before (it was +395,801 the week before that).
On 2020-10-023, with +85,302 new cases, the USA set a new +cases record for that country.
ARKANSAS & UTAH both went over 100,000 total confirmed COVID-19 cases during this week.
NEW HAMPSHIRE went over 10,000 total confirmed COVID-19 cases during this week.
Both TEXAS and CALIFORNIA are well over 900,000 total cases apiece.

The USA has now officially recorded 230,510 total COVID-19 deaths, +5,780 of those deaths were recorded during this week.
USA WEEKLY rolling average = 71,626 new infections & 826 deaths per day.
16,377 C19 cases in the USA are listed in critical care (+997 over the week before).
TOTAL PERFORMED C19 tests: 133.2 million, 33 states have now performed over 1 million tests apiece.

    STAT'S EXCEL-TABLE:

You can see that the USA shot up to an average of just a little more than +71,600 new C19 infections per day. The last time the USA was around this average was NEVER BEFORE, this is mathematically the new high point for the USA. The difference between this wave, the 2nd for the world but the 3rd for the USA, is that the July-wave was powered by an incredible number of daily cases out of Florida, Texas, California and Arizona. Now, with those states well under +10,000 per day but the national daily cases actually higher than they have ever been, this can only mean that considerably more of nation, all over the place, is contributing to these practically astronomic figures. Either this week or in the middle of election week, we may very well go over +90,000 daily cases on one day, maybe more.

An average of +71,626 new infections per day = 50 new infections per MINUTE.

The infection rate and the rate of ICU bed use is obviously going in the wrong direction.

Worst yet, the average daily deaths jumped from +719 one week ago to +826 as of now. Remember, deaths are a lagging indicator, so the skyrocketing number of daily cases can only mean considerably more daily deaths starting about the 3rd week of November, 2020.

    2020-10-025 COVID-19 EOD USA 007 - rubrik worktable.png

By clicking on the hyperlink (directly above this screenshot), you can learn to interpret the worksheet. For the entire week, there were 3 unit / rubrik changes: Arkansas, New Hampshire and Utah.

In this week, TEXAS led in +cases every day of the week except until Saturday, where ILLINOIS took the lead at the weeken. Since it led 13 days in a row before, this means that TX lead for 18 days in a row before ILLINOIS moved to rank 1.

The way the rubrik table is presented, you can easily (and mathematically) see how the week has developed until its end.

FACIT: we ended the 7-day period analysed with 230,510 total US deaths from COVID-19.

This means that we have currently lost the equivalent of more than the population of BATON ROUGE or just slightly than the population of FREMONT, never to get the one or the other back again.

As of 2020-08-001, I adjusted the extrapolation upward from an estimated average +700 deaths per day (from 2020-06-001 through 2020-07-031) to an estimated average of +850 deaths per day in the USA. Here the current projected milestones:

2020-09-020: 200,000 deaths (the old extrapolation projected: 2020-10-013). 200,000 deaths were reached 5 days before, on 2020-09-015.
    2020-11-003 (Election Day): 237,500 deaths
    2020-11-018: 250,000 deaths
    (the old extrapolation projected: 2020-12-023).
2020-12-031: 286,697 deaths on New Years Eve, 2020 going into 2021.

    At current:

    2020-10-025 COVID-19 EOD USA 006 - extrapolation.png

This means that we are currently at +663 deaths over the extrapolation, which puts us also currently only 0.75 days ahead of the next milestone-projections. This value is the lowest value in the extrapolation since 2020-08-005. Currently, the average daily death rate in the USA is: +826 per day (it was +719 one week ago...), 24 under the extrapolated +850 per day. So, it looks as if we have already passed the low-point of the death average in the USA and are on our way back upward again. Bad news.

I know it may be tiring to see these statistics all the time, but I do think it's important to follow the data-path every day and to put it in print, for posterity's sake, so that the naysayers cannot say "nay" without looking totally ignorant.

    NEW CONCLUSION: mitigate!

So we are near 200 cases in the county. From 152 to 200 in three weeks. We had brilliant weather, blue skies, temps in the 70s, or even 80s.
So now we had a polar bomb.
What does that mean. Yesterday afternoon we had 1014 mb, 71 F. 17:00 1012 mb and 65. Than the bomb dropped.
    by 19:00 we had 992 mb and 20 degree F, 30mph wind and light snow. This morning 6:00 10F, 10mph, chill 0.
    980 mb. When I left house 8:00, 1010 mb.
It got to a balmy 29 F today.
Important, sure, we are in a surge in the county, we have quadrupled, our weekly cases, while we had gorgeous, mild early fall, outdoor weather.
Now we have for close to 2 weeks, what most people consider indoor weather.
Windows, doors, swamp coolers etc. all closed. Recycled air.
    That will be fun.
Installed UV_C lights in the heating ducts today.
    Heaters are going full blast.

What is about weather like this important to know. Younger folks like me get hit by those bombs hard, its the rapid change in air pressure
It hits you, like a Tyson punch, for a few days. That is like a 72 hour hang over.
If you catch the flu during one of those bombs you are in trouble, covid deep shiit. They will come now, every 2 or 3 weeks, till end of February.
    Fun times.

LOOKING BACK AT EXACTLY EIGHT MONTHS AGO AS OF TODAY:

Exactly one half year ago today, on 2020-02-027, I started to follow the COVID-19 numbers through WorldOMeter and before creating this thread in Mid-March, I first posted the numbers via twitter.

So, here is the first screenshot I ever made of the COVID-19 numbers:

(You can also find that screenshot in the OP, just go back about 12,000 postings!)

And, now, here the numbers from this afternoon (my time) on 2020-10-027, exactly eight months later:

    2020-10-027 COVID-19 lookback to 2020-02-027.png

In the posting from August, where I looked back six months, I compared a number of rankings. Suffice it to say that things have shifted massively since I started tracking the statistics on 2020-02-027. But I note that two months ago, we had three nations with over 1,000,000 confirmed C19 cases a piece. Now, there are 8 such nations, and soon, there will be 11.

    Here two data points:

-in the exactly 8 months since I began tracking, the total number of COVID-19 cases worldwide has grown 533 (FIVE-HUNDRED-THIRTY-THREE)-fold, whereas the total number of COVID-19 deaths worldwide has grown 415 (FOUR-HUNDRED-FIFTEEN)-fold.

    Very sobering.

    ONLINE EXCEL DATA UPDATE, 2020-10-027

Life is change; he who doesn't adapt, dies off.

So, there are four changes/additions in/to the online excel-data (see: my sig file).

1.) 3 more nations have been added to my daily tracking: UK, Peru and Mexico. All three are just shy of 900,000 cases (the UK will likely go over 900,000 today) and within the next weeks, all three will join the "million club".

2.) In the excel tracking for each nation, a new row has been added: row S (posititivity rate). That is the current number of total confirmed C19 cases divided by the total number of tests performed, presented in percentage form. Since Russia has already released its C19 data for today, here the screenshot so you can see the data:

    2020-10-027 COVID-19 RUSSIA 000.png

The positivity rate in the USA is currently at: 6.67%.

If you look at all 11 top nations, you will see a massive disparity in the positivity rates. Could be a good discussion topic. At any rate, a member asked me to include the posititivity rates and so I am honoring that wish.

3.) I have added a tab the logs the history of events during the COVID-19 pandemic:

    2020-10-027 COVID-19 historical timeline tab.png

4.) The rubrik worktables ("Covid-19 Worldwide/USA worksheet") has become extremely long. Starting next week, on Monday, November 2, 2020, a new tab will be opened and the rubrik worktable will be continued, but there will be come changes: some rubriks will be enlarged, others removed. For instance, in the USA, under "total cases", I will be adding "1,000,000" or more, as both Texas and California are on track to exceed 1,000,000 cases in the next weeks. Same thing for the worldwide stats, in that same rubrik, I will be adding "10,000,000 or more" as the USA will go over 9,000,000 total C19 cases today and surely within the next two weeks, the USA will go into the 8-digit range in C19 cases. And sadly, it won't be the only nation to do so. A longer elaboration about this will come out with the EOW report for Sunday, November 8, 2020.

BTW, November 9th is my birthday.

1000 a day dead in the US, still progressing? Mostly old people who did not have long to live anyway?

Certainly, the virus should have been much more deadly, to teach us what self-interested little s***s* we all are....especially Trumpian libertarians....

    I try me best.
The airpressure changes are still wako. I stayed home yesterday.

    But this is trouble some.
225 case now, over 60 active. That is quiet a spike.

    over 10% over the weekend.

    Observation.
I would say about 50% use masks. There is just one business in the county, besides mine, which mandates masks.
A few business, Wal Mart, Safeway, City Market, have sign about mandating masks, but they do not mandate them.
All the other small businesses have a sign up " Most of our employees do not wear masks, neither our customers. If you feel threatened by it call and we do curbside delivery."
    Oh well.
Had to go to Napa, needed a water pumps, no masks. Than to Autozone for a realay. Big sign masks mandetory.
The clown who sold me the relay had his masks pinned to the top of his cap.

This the reason why rural US gets hit so hard. They do not get it.

My mask mandate has been good for business, first it killed business, but now, the more educated appreciate it.
Super good is drop ofs, people do not want to stand for 2 hours inside a business. Naturally school drop ofs are rather good, all their cleaning rags, mobs and so on.

But 25 case over the weekend is rather massive.
I will go back to limit 15 customers in the store and ban children, again. They do not help or spent money r bring laundry in.
They only fill up the limit.

PERMANENT DISCLAIMER -AND- 4-RUBRIK WORKSHEET IN LIEU OF WALL-OF-TEXT -AND- CHANGES/ADDITIONS TO THE ONLINE EXCEL DATA AS OF 2020-10-027

    COVID-19 stats for Wednesday, 2020-10-028 (GMT +0 - Greenwich / 20:00 EDT) / Part 1:
Worldwide and 'dreadnaught' nations over 5,000,000 COVID-19 cases

As indicated a while back: I am now only releasing barebones data for the worldwide figures and the top 11 nations (all over 900,000 cases) throughout the week (Monday through Saturday) and will publish a large set of End of Week (EOW) reports for the Sunday of each week. As of today, with just under or over 900,000 cases, UK, Mexico and Peru have been added to the tracking (see: part 2)

You can then interpret the tables and screenshots for yourselves as you wish.

This will be the new daily format apart from EOW (End of Week) / EOM / EOY analyses and it saves me a LOT of time. Wishing you all good health.
