Well, yeah. Look closer at the tapestries. The animal there is really more goat shaped and has the goat features. But the perspective makes it look larger than it should be. That was one of the sources that changed the animal into the mythical creature.

 

I spent more time on farms and less time analyzing Medieval tapestries when I had the chance as I had scant interest in primitive Medieval art.
