President Trump’s pledge to wipe out the notoriously violent MS-13 gang is gaining traction — at least in the Empire State.

Federal officials have rounded up close to 40 accused members of MS-13 in New York City and Long Island in the 30 days following vows by Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions to crack down on the gang, known for terrorizing immigrant communities.

Of the 45 New York-area gang arrests over the last month by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security, 39 were affiliated with MS-13, which has been blamed for a string of recent murders in normally placid Long Island, the feds said.

Those who are not charged with crimes will be processed for deportation, the feds said.

Authorities announced the arrests Wednesday as part of a newly formed task force aimed at MS-13 in New York City and Long Island...

US Takes MS-13 Gang Fight to Its Root Countries
June 21, 2017 | WASHINGTON — The U.S. Justice Department is taking the fight against the Central American street gang known as MS-13 to its home turf – the so-called “northern triangle” countries of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

With roots among war refugees from El Salvador in Los Angeles in the 1980s, MS-13, also known by its Spanish name “Mara Salvatrucha,” has morphed into one of the largest and most violent gangs in the United States, boasting an estimated 10,000 members. But much of its leadership remains in El Salvador from where they plan and orchestrate “some significant murders” in the U.S., cases that local prosecutors are unable to investigate, according to Kenneth Blanco, assistant attorney general in charge of the department’s criminal division.

As part of its fight against the gang, the Justice Department’s criminal division coordinates with the Central American governments to gather leads and evidence for prosecuting gang members in the United States and to target others “before they ever reach U.S. ports of entry,” Blanco told a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on MS-13 Wednesday. “The department’s ultimate goal is to dismantle the entire leadership structure of MS-13, including those members who reside overseas,” Blanco said.

FBI vetted foreign investigative units in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to probe MS-13 and other gang members as well as locals responsible for criminal activity in the United States, while another Justice Department unit sends attorneys overseas to combat gangs, cartels, financial crimes, public corruption and other transnational criminal activities, he said. “You can help us take the fight where it emanates from to make sure those people never get here and those who are here go back,” Blanco said.

Terrorist organization?

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has called the gang “one of the gravest threats to American safety,” and in April told a television interviewer that it could be designated a terrorist organization. Sessions later said he wasn’t certain whether the gang, the first street gang to be labeled a transnational criminal organization by the United States, meets the State Department’s standards to be designated as a terrorist organization. The Justice Department’s focus on MS-13 as part of its new tough on crime approach has drawn criticism that the administration is using it as a pretext to crack down on undocumented immigrants.

Judge Frees Illegal Immigrant MS-13 Member Because Of ‘Rights Violations’
June 22, 2017 | An Obama-appointed federal judge in Virginia early this month released a Honduran teen who sold drugs, illegally crossed the U.S. border, and was a member of the violent street gang MS-13.

U.S. District Judge Elizabeth K. Dillon ordered the 17-year-old to be released because his “rights had been violated” after he crossed the Rio Grande and turned himself in to U.S. Border Patrol, the Washington Post reported. “The judge ruled that, by holding the illegal alien gangbanger without a hearing, the government violated his rights to due process and family unity,” according to Judicial Watch. The former gang-member’s identity has not been revealed due to his status as a minor. The teen claimed to have sold drugs and witnessed several murders during his time with Mara Salvatrucha, the gang better known as MS-13, but that he had never participated in a killing. He will be living with his mother and half-siblings in their home in Kentucky.

During the Obama administration, more than 150,000 minor aliens entered the country illegally by way of the southern border. The Department of Homeland Security has said that unaccompanied alien children (UACs) pose several threats to the United States, and that violent street gangs like MS-13 actively recruit new members in units where UACs are held. “Both the MS-13 and the 18th Street gangs embarked on a recruiting frenzy at the various facilities housing the newly arrived illegal aliens,” said Judicial Watch, citing law enforcement sources. “The UACs also brought in dangerous diseases – including swine flu, dengue fever, Ebola virus and tuberculosis – and occupied the nation’s military bases as shelters.” Gang members were also reportedly using phones provided by the Red Cross to communicate.

The Justice Department’s National Gang Intelligence Center (NGIC) has said that MS-13 and other violent street games are responsible for “the majority of violent crimes in the U.S. and are the primary distributors of most illicit drugs.” “A year after the Obama administration began allowing droves of UACs to remain in the U.S., the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that the MS-13 emerged as a top tier gang in the Lone Star State thanks to the influx of illegal alien gang members that crossed into the state the previous year,” Judicial Watch reported. “Last month, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) sent a letter to the ORR [Office of Refugee Resettlement], demanding to know if it had released any unaccompanied minors with admitted gang ties,” according to the Washington Post. “This teen may be the first known case, but he is not the only one. In a statement to The Washington Post, the agency said it had released ‘a small number’ of children with ‘minimal’ gang affiliation to live with relatives.”

In April, Attorney General Jeff Sessions voiced concern about UACs and gang members crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. “If they come as undocumented minors, the federal government transports them wherever in the interior they say they’d like to go,” he said. “The bad guys know how this system works, and they have exploited it.”

US, El Salvador Team Up to Target MS-13 Gang Members
July 27, 2017 | The White House announced Thursday that El Salvadorian prosecutors arrested hundreds of MS-13 gang members in El Salvador over the past three days and that an MS-13 gang member behind several high-profile murders in that country, who had fled to the U.S., is now in ICE custody.

Robert Hur, principal associate deputy attorney general at the DOJ, made the announcement during a White House press briefing, also attended by Tom Homan, acting director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. "Indeed, earlier today, just hours ago, El Salvadorian prosecutors announced that they have filed charges against, and arrested, over the past 36 hours, hundreds of members of MS-13 in El Salvador. Many of the defendants are members of MS-13 Peajes Locos Salvatruchos clique who are centered in the La Paz department of El Salvador," Hur said. "Earlier this year, members of this MS-13 clique committed several high-profile murders in El Salvador. The shooter in these murders fled to the United States and is now in ICE custody pending immigration proceedings. This prosecution showcases just how closely we are working with our partners in El Salvador to combat MS-13. Specifically, U.S. law enforcement agents with ICE, who are on the ground in El Salvador, are coordinating with their counterparts here in the U.S. to ensure that the shooter is removed from the United States as quickly as possible to face charges in El Salvador," he said. "This investigation is being handled by Salvadorian gang prosecutors who are trained and mentored by embedded DOJ prosecutors in El Salvador and Salvadorian police officers who are trained and mentored by the FBI and advisors from the State Department. At the request of Salvadorian prosecutors, the Justice Department has also arranged to have an essential witness to the murders transported to El Salvador for court proceedings," Hur said.

He explained that MS-13's motto is "Mata, viola, controla," which translates kill, rape, and control. "They seek to live up to this motto through truly shocking acts of violence designed to instill fear. Vicious machete attacks, execution-style gunshots, gang-rape, and human trafficking. They use whatever they can get their hands on -- guns, knives, machetes, baseball bats, tire irons, or their fists and feet -- not just to inflict violence. They use violence to shock, to send a message, and to control territory here in the U.S. and in Central America," Hur said.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has answered President Donald Trump's call to target transnational gangs and directed the DOJ to move forward "aggressively" target MS-13. "Specifically, pursuant to the president's direction and executive orders, the attorney general has directed the department's law enforcement agencies -- ATF, DEA, FBI and the Marshals Service, as well as federal prosecutors across the country -- to prioritize the prosecution of gang members, specifically MS-13," Hur said. "The Attorney General has issued charging guidance regarding violent crime and criminal immigration enforcement, both of which directly target MS-13 members and their associates. In addition, the Department of Justice has requested funding for 300 more federal prosecutors to focus specifically on violent crime and criminal immigration enforcement," he said. "We've also prioritized multi-agency and cross-border collaboration in order to attack MS-13 from all angles. The Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security are coordinating our anti-gang efforts to ensure that we bring both criminal and immigration laws to bear in the fight against transnational gangs," Hur added.

The DOJ has also "revitalized the Institutional Hearing Program,which brings immigration judges to Bureau Prisons facilities to adjudicate the immigration status of federal criminal alien inmates while they're incarcerated," resulting in quicker deportations after criminals finish serving sentences in U.S. prisons. Homan said ICE's Homeland Security Investigation, also known as HSI National Gang Unit, already arrested 3,311 gang members nationwide since the beginning of January. He named two targeted operations: "Project New Dawn, a recent gang surge led by ICE HSI netted 1,378 gang arrests" and "Operation Matador" in New York state in which over 100 gang members and affiliates were arrested since May 9th, "the vast majority of MS-13 members." Homan is expected to join the president in Suffolk County, N.Y., on Friday to discuss transnational gangs.

July 28, 2017 – In a White House press briefing Thursday, a top immigration enforcement official said sanctuary cities make it almost impossible to fulfill a priority of the Trump administration—pushing back against the MS-13 gang. “Sanctuary cities are a criminal's biggest friend,” said Tom Homan, acting director of the U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement.

Criminal organizations like MS-13 that smuggle drugs, weapons, and people, according to Homan, use sanctuary cities as a form of advertisement. “If you're an alien smuggler and you're smuggling people in this country for a living, that is one sales pitch – ‘we can get you to a sanctuary city that will help shield you from immigration,’” he said. “If we send the message that if you get into the country, you get by the Border Patrol, and don't get arrested by local law enforcement for another crime, and no one is looking for you -- that is a magnet; that is a pull factor,” Homan added.

Spaces such as these, Homan said, spark incidents like the one he responded to in Victoria, Texas, where he found a five-year-old among 19 dead illegal aliens tied to a tractor trailer. “What do you think that five-year-old went through the last 30 minutes of his life? What do you think his father went through the last 30 minutes of his life looking down at his child, knowing he couldn’t help him because they were locked in the back of a tractor trailer?” Homan said.

But immigrants and local citizens are not the only ones in danger in these areas. “Sanctuary cities not only endanger public safety, they endanger my law enforcement officers, because when we can't get a criminal alien -- violent alien -- out of a county jail, it means one of our officers will knock on the door -- which anybody in law enforcement knows, that's one of the most dangerous things to do,” Homan said. “The community is put at risk, our officers are put at risk, and the alien himself is put at risk.” Homan repeatedly called for a strong local partnership across these sanctuary cities to aid the effort of dismantling MS-13, since it is the state and local law enforcement that have the first contact with this transnational gang. “Cooperation is critical,” he said. “Sanctuary cities need to help us keep their community safe.”

Ignoring the illegal population that commit egregious crimes in these sanctuary cities means “bankrolling these criminal organizations,” Homan said. “If you're in sanctuary cities, that's where we'll send additional resources to look for you at your home, at place of employment,” he said. Although sanctuary cities still pose as a major obstacle, Homan believes progress is being made. More and more local law enforcement from many jurisdictions are coming to the table, he said. “The 287(g) agreements -- we've already doubled those agreements on this administration,” Homan said. “ICE expects to triple the number of these agreements by the end of this year.”

He blamed the rise of MS-13 on the “weak political leadership” of the Obama administration and sanctuary cities. “For many years, they exploited America’s weak borders and lax immigration enforcement to bring drugs and violence to cities and towns all across America. They're there right now because of weak political leadership, weak leadership, weak policing, and in many cases because the police weren’t allowed to do their job,” Trump said. “I’ve met police that are great police that aren’t allowed to do their job because they have a pathetic mayor or a mayor doesn't know what’s going on,” he said. “And MS-13, the cartel, has spread gruesome bloodshed throughout the United States. We've gotten a lot of them out of here. Big, big percentage, but the rest are coming -- they’ll be out of here quickly, right?” he said. “Few communities have suffered worse at the hands of these MS-13 thugs than the people of Long Island. Hard to believe. I grew up on Long Island. I didn't know about this. I didn't know about this, and then all of a sudden, this is like a new phenomenon,” the president said.

August 16, 2017 | The Justice Department announced Tuesday that 13 members and associates of the MS-13 gang were arrested in Central Ohio and Indiana.

A total of 15 suspected MS-13 members were charged with federal crimes - 10 of them with conspiracy to commit extortion, conspiracy to commit money laundering and use of a firearm during a crime of violence. Five defendants were charged with reentering the country after deportation. Two of the 15 alleged MS-13 gang members are fugitives.

“With more than 10,000 members across 40 states, MS-13 is one of the most dangerous criminal organizations in the United States today," said Attorney General Sessions. "MS-13 members have killed children and pregnant women, extorted immigrant-owned businesses, and trafficked underage girls to sell them for sex. President Trump has ordered the Department of Justice to reduce crime and take down transnational criminal organizations, and we will be relentless in our pursuit of these objectives. Today's charges are our next step toward making this country safer by taking MS-13 off of our streets for good.”

MS-13, once known as La Mara Salvatrucha, has been designated as a "transnational criminal organization" - the first and only street gang to be designated as such. According to the indictment, 10 defendants conspired to commit extortion through the use of threatened or actual force, violence or fear to intimidate their victims into paying money to the defendants and their co-conspirators. The money from these crimes was sent through wire transfers and intermediaries to MS-13 gang members and associates in El Salvador - where the gang originated - and elsewhere.

That money was used to promote and facilitate criminal activities of MS-13 in El Salvador and the U.S., according to the DOJ. It was used to buy cell phones, drugs, and weapons, and to financially support MS-13 and those gang members that are jailed in El Saldavor and the U.S., as well as those who were deported and the families of dead MS-13 members.

A federal arrest warrant was issued for Gomez … on September 19, 2013, after he was charged with violent crime in aid of racketeering.”

The FBI offered a $100,000 reward in exchange for tips leading to Gomez’s arrest. According to the Bureau, tips from the public contributed to his arrest in Woodbridge, Virginia on August 11. "The apprehension of Walter Yovany Gomez is a prime example of the close coordination between the vigilant public and the hard working men and women of law enforcement," said Timothy Gallagher, the Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Newark Division. "Gomez will now stand trial for his alleged involvement in a brutal murder which took a young man from his family,” said Gallagher. Gomez is one of 482 fugitives who have been apprehended or located after being place on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list. The list has featured 514 names in total.

President Donald Trump has made the dismantlement of MS-13 a key plank of his “law and order” platform. During a speech in late July the president told a crowd of law enforcement officers, “Together we're going to restore safety to our streets and peace to our communities and we're going to destroy the vile, criminal cartel MS-13 and many other gangs.” "They kidnap. They extort. They rape and they rob," the president said. "They stomp on their victims. They beat them with clubs, they slash them with machetes, and they stab them with knives. They have transformed peaceful parks and beautiful quiet neighborhoods into bloodstained killing fields. They're animals." "We're going to enforce our laws, protect our borders and support our police like our police have never been supported before,” said Trump.

Local LE knows who the MS-13 gang members are. But MS-13 only operates in sanctuary cities and the liberal mayors and council members will not allow their police to turn over the identity of MS-13 members to federal law enforcement.

Look at it this way, the left in America are the Taliban.

The designation will allow the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces to target MS-13 with an array of laws, from the anti-organized crime law known as RICO to tax and firearms statutes, Sessions told the International Association of Chiefs of Police. "Now they will go after MS-13 with a renewed vigor and a sharpened focus," Sessions said at the annual conference of IACP in Philadelphia.

Program's mission

The Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces program is the centerpiece of the attorney general's drug policy. Established in 1982 to combat drug trafficking and money laundering, it is comprised of Justice Department prosecutors as well as agents from 11 federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, DEA, IRS, the Secret Service and the Coast Guard. "And they all have one mission: to go after drug criminals and traffickers at the highest levels," Sessions said.

With an estimated 30,000 members worldwide, including 10,000 in the United States, MS-13 is the only street gang designated by the Treasury Department as a transnational criminal organization. The organization’s leaders are based in El Salvador, often directing members in the United States from prisons. Law enforcement officials say gang members operate in "cliques" in at least 40 states and engage in a wide range of criminal activity from illegal drug distribution to money laundering and a string of grisly homicides. Monday’s announcement marks the latest step by the Department of Justice to fulfill President Donald Trump’s vow to root out MS-13. In February, Trump issued an executive order to "dismantle and eradicate" the transnational gang.

Justice Department's motto

Repeating a refrain he’s often used as he's promoted the Justice Department’s anti-gang campaign around the country, Sessions said that while MS-13's motto is "kill, rape and control," the Department has "a motto too: justice for victims and consequences for criminals." "This is our motto and that is our mission," Sessions said, calling MS-13 the "most brutal of international gangs." Last month, the Department of Justice announced criminal charges against 3,800 members of MS-13, as well as another transnational gang — 18th Street — operating in the United States and Central America.

Really! How many gangbanger's have had their whole families killed by government fires like Waco?
How many have been hunted down over several states for being at a restaurant when violence broke out and put under a million dollar bonds like the bikers in Waco?
How many have been locked up for fighting the BLM for stealing their land and still in jail today?
Of course everyone of these people persecuted, imprisoned without due process had one thing in common they were all whites.
I don't think much will come of this either because if they can lock up white Americans but can't illegals and known criminals will run free.

After all, we have people here who are taking drugs for pleasure, why hell, we're not supposed to even be taking drugs for the relief of massive and unending PAIN according to rightists (as witness the Opioid "crisis").
