Is this cruelty, or just more incompetence?

    https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2...vocates-say/EMXZQURTzE0U25L6xQlYBN/story.html

My guess is that officials within USCIS saw a program name of "medical deferred action" within a list of immigration programs and, to toady up to the boss, crossed it off the list, then sent out a form letter to everyone currently residing here legally under this program.

My guess is that, as usual with the idiots Trump hires, they gave no thought to consequences, or to who this program affects. Then, when the inevitable fecal matter made contact with the air circulation device, the deflected to ICE, claiming that ICE was going to take over review8ng these people case by case. This, of course, came as a complete surprise to ICE.

The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing, and the result is a death sentence for innocent critically ill children.

This is not what America is.

If they're illegal, get them out, and get citizens in those beds.

Pretty soon they will be rounding up every person with cancer in Mexico, carting them to America and insisting that they we can't get rid of them until we cure them. Clown ideas from a clown world.

Sounds like the folks in Boston were merely confused....apparently another agency is handling the program and the notice that was sent confused some people

I think it very likely that when the program was decided and the letters sent, they didn't really understand the ramifications. And now that the advocacy groups and lawyers are getting involved, they are playing hot potato.

I will give the benefit of the doubt and say that the lack of full understanding suggests that the intentions were not cruel - that they didn't know they were sentencing children to death. And the cowardly way in which no one will take responsibility suggests that they now know what they've done. I'm now very interested in how this is handled.

As for 'this is not America'...clearly, it is. Based upon the comments you've had so far, there is a portion of America that is perfectly fine with sentencing children to death if they are here illegally.

Why is the LW thinks they can define 'what America is'? Providing free medical care to law-breakers while our veterans go wanting isn't who we are, or running up our debt that foreigners won't be helping us pay.

That issue is so minor as to mean nothing in the election.

You just said it will help defeat Trump.

What does the LW care about children, they're OK with aborting them by the million.

You were talking about it as a defense of Trump: it shows that RW do not care about sick children..

Sure let’s open the flood gates to the entirety of Latin America and provide them free healthcare if they can drag themselves to the border and claim fake asylum. We can’t even do that for our own citizens but hey, we have to be nice and ****. Holy crap. Seriously.

    Fracking brilliant!!!!

That does not prove that RW care about sick children.

So when citizens don't want to participate in socialized health care, we get accused of trying to scam the system and get it for free, but its ok for foreign nationals to come here to do precisely that...

    *insert clown world meme here*

FTR, I would happily open up our healthcare system for any child who needs care, because they should not be punished for the incompetence and/or neglect of their parents. But only if we first find a way to do it without allowing their adult families to move here. Either those children become adopted by citizens, become wards of the state, or are safely sent home after treatment. No more 'anchoring.' We cannot support all the worlds poor. But I believe we can help much of the worlds children (though we should absolutely look after our own first- I support free health care for all under 18 ).

America should care about American sick children, or is the rest of the world our responsibility?

The question is outside of the topic, should our admin deport critically ill children? There is nothing about the 'whole world'.

I'm guessing you never stepped in feces while walking on San Francisco sidewalks or visited L.A. County's USC Medical Center waiting room.

    BTW:
The American taxpayers are paying the medical bills for almost every person you see sitting in the waiting room of USC Medical Center.

One gets the feeling that every Mexican from Tija Juna is living in this building.
There is no vacancy for Central Americans at the USC County Medical Center..

We have to take a hard line. You can’t think so short sighted and simplistic. You have to look at the bigger picture. The better question is how are critically ill children ending up here in the first place? If we make it OK, it will be exploited. It’s what’s been going on with anchor babies and now we have generations of “citizens” and chain migrants that really shouldn’t be citizens in the 1st place. Let’s not even mention how China has been exploiting it through birthing trips. It’s rampant and is going to bite us hard. It already has.

The blame needs to be placed where it should be. We can’t be picked on and treated like a doormat having to cave to the whims of anyone who shows up and thinks they deserve our rights.

The short sighted and simplistic is to hardline this and deport critically ill children.

That is not only immoral and unAmerican, it is simply stupid PR in the eyes of the world.

    Good people don't punish children.

The American taxpayer is paying almost none of the bills for those at USC Medical Center.

There are critically ill children all over the world. Other than taking wild guesses, what are you doing to help them?

We are talking about critically ill children in our government's care, not all the children in the world.
