Matters not the soybean harvest was devastated by too much rain this year, most farmers are already filing their insurance claims.

I always use a can of (organic, zero sodium) chopped tomatoes in my chili. I think it would be pretty awful without, and probably an unappealing brown colour. As for the green beans, which kind do you use? I grow French beans, and snow peas. Will either work? I'm assuming you put them in right near the end of cooking so they don't lose their freshness and bright green colour?

PS: My spagetti bolognese sauce is also pretty good - but like yours, doesn't receive proper attention. Unacceptable!

Indeed. I recently watched some kid on YT talking about his budget healthy meals (prepped in advance). They worked out at roughly $5 each - for one person. Laughable! 'Budget' would be $5 for the entire family.

Hang on, do you mean canned GREEN beans? Aren't they terrible, though? Awful flavour, lost their bright green freshness, soggy, full of sodium, etc etc.

It’s very rare for me to eat a meal costing anywhere near $5. That’s big money!

Green beans in chili. Proof this forum isn’t just for entertainment. Home canned green beans will be going in the next pot of chili. Maybe not in the pot after that, but definitely in the next one. :)

there's no such thing as 'food stamps', that died decades ago...

it's called wic, similar to a prepaid debit card...

I've seen them, and they looked like something you'd expect in a dystopian future, after the sun goes nova and all plant life has died.
