The poverty capital of the US is Mississippi. They have the highest % of people living in poverty. I believe that is a red state, LOL.

This is just the republican play book. Cut taxes. Run a deficit. And use that as an excuse to cut away at the safety net.

As opposed to the Democrat play book of higher taxes and a larger deficit.

Resulting in our great economy, just like when Reagan did.

Is Nancy recommending any spending cuts?

    It's a safety net, not a hammock.

    Exactly.

Trump helps himself and his buddies fleece hard-working Americans (by running up historic deficits) and tries take away the safety net to pay for it.

But Trump promised to eliminate the federal debt in 8 years. I guess he was lying. I'm SHOCKED!

ROFL you literally have no clue, do you?!? The cost of living in Mississippi is the lowest in the US while EVERY democratic state has the highest cost of living, California being ranks 49th highest. At least the people living in poverty in Mississippi can at least own a trailer while California poverty gets to $hit in the streets.

And the highest rate of Homelessness is of course... Yep, you guessed it, California.. Congrats.

And Reagan exploded the debt just like Trump is. Trump inherited a good economy though. Cutting taxes in a strong economy is stupid. When a recession hits, and they always do, there is no safety valve.

Dear lord, people living in poverty are better off in Mississippi? That's your argument? Don't waste my time with such asinine comments.

Also, homeless people migrate to California. The weather is good and there are more outreach programs.

That’s a load of bull. For less than $100/wk the wife and I eat very healthy. Just went to the grocery store today and loaded up on fresh veggies and lean meats. Total bill was $216.62 but with coupons and online savings only paid $91.62. People must not be lazy and cook instead of buying frozen pre made processed foods.

Poverty numbers take into account the cost of living in that state. They also take into account several other factors.

    Educate thyself.

    No they don't.

The things that most impact the poor are housing costs, gas prices, and utility prices.

All of which are roughly 143% higher in CA.

If you're making ~25k a year, and you're not an illegal alien, you'd be a fool to move to CA over MS.

YES, THEY DO. Poverty rates certainly do take into account the cost of living in that state.

I'll post this again. It goes in depth at how poverty rates are calculated. Quite simply, you are wrong.
