Trump is scheduled to speak about this today at 6 p.m. ET. I hear he's planning to throw a couple of billion taxpayer dollars at the problem, which won't help unless a vaccine is created, and wouldn't be necessary if he hadn't gutted the CDC's funding and completely rid us of the coordinated response groups created by Obama in 2014 in response to the ebola outbreak. He did so as part of his work in minimizing the huge deficit brought on by his tax break for the rich.

Be afraid. Be very afraid. Trump does not care about you, or me, or any of us. He only cares about himself and getting re-elected.

As a result of the Ebola virus President Obama initiated several different departments in our government to handle any future medical outbreaks that were similar to the Ebola virus. Naturally, since Obama formed them trump has dissolved them. Now the poor idiot has no idea what to do or say.

 

It was not that long ago that democrats were claiming that trump was over reacting.

 

It's just another bat-pig-human flu going around. Keep away from Asian people or people who've been to Asia and you'll be fine.

 

We've known that there were viruses for a long while now. A new department is not needed each time a new virus rears its ugly profile.

I assume that the smart people already charged with taking charge of viruses can keep up with the new science, adapt, and improvise as needed.

In 2014, in response to the ebola outbreak, the Obama administration created a vast network for agencies like the CDC, NIH, WHO, and others to coordinate efforts, track viruses, educate the people on how to protect themselves, coordinate vaccine efforts, and so forth. It was a monumental effort.

Trump dismanted that entire network and gutted the budgets for the CDC and NIH.

No, of course Trump didn't create the virus, he simply made it next to impossible for our agencies to respond in any kind of effective way. And he is downplaying the danger simply to stop the bleeding in the stock markets, because what could possibly be more important than making sure the rich keep on getting richer? Certainly not your life or mine.

Why do you insist on excusing every effed up thing this president does or says? Good grief, when will Trumpsters ever learn?

 

New department? We HAD a network of agencies to respond to things like this, created by Obama. So OF COURSE Trump had to dismantle that network and cut funding for any new efforts.

This virus will spread in this country, all experts past and present agree on that, and Trump has dismantled and cut funding for the only agencies that could help us deal with it. He's downplaying the danger in a vain effort to keep the stock markets from crashing. Money is more important than your life and mine. Get a damn clue, will ya? Look around, its not spreading in America at the rates its spreading in many other countries. What Trump is doing is not creating a panic and allowing the CDC to handle this in an unobtrusive way. Not that it matters, no matter what Trump's response liberals will whine. Its like you folks are asking him to send CDC to airports in hazmat suits, and if he did you'd complain he's a dictator and fear mongering. Rational people don't have a problem with Trump's response because they see the results, which is limited spread even though this country has some of the busiest airports in the world...

Bummer for you. Keep your head buried in the sand. What Trump did in 2018 to our ability to respond to a pandemic was petty and extremely unwise at best. Petty because it was an Obama effort that created our response network in 2014, and he just can't have Obama getting credit for anything good.

Trump is sooo not trying to prevent a panic anywhere other than the stock market, and is trying to stay in denial because he doesn't want his incompetent people to fudge a pandemic response in an election year. Here's what I noticed. When Ebola was a thing the right went nuts complaining about how little Obama was doing about Ebola. The world was gonna die. Now we have the Corona Virus and the left is going nuts complaining about how little Trump is doing about it and the world is gonna die.
