When he was ripping hopeful entrepreneurs off at his bogus university and stealing money from his foundation which was donated for kids with cancer.

    GODLESS;

    profane; wicked.
"a mob reeling out from their godless pleasures"
    synonyms: immoral, wicked, sinful, wrong, morally wrong, wrongful, evil, bad, iniquitous, corrupt, irreligious, unrighteous, sacrilegious, profane, blasphemous, impious, irreverent, criminal, nefarious, depraved, degenerate, reprobate, vice-ridden, debauched, dissolute, perverted, dissipated, intemperate, decadent, unprincipled, erring, fallen, impure, sullied, tainted;
    rarepeccable
    "godless pleasures"

Again, is this what a true Christian thinks that an Atheist is? When did I claim that I was Godless? Many Atheist WANT desperately to believe that you are right. They sincerely hope that there is something more, outside of reality. I have already told you, that Atheists do not believe in the existence of God, ONLY because there is no evidence to demonstrate His existence. Since you don't believe in all of the thousands of other Gods, then you are also Godless of those Gods as well. Atheists are simply godless of all Gods, without any evidence to support the claim. Provide the evidence, and no more Atheists. Believers require zero evidence, only faith. I guess if 4 Billion people believed in the tooth fairy, then all "Atoothfairists" would be called toothless,

So unless you have a case to present, I will accept the reality of my subjective perspective of reality. Of which I can never escape.

Good one - The first words in the Sermon on the Mount - the purpose of this sermon being to state what is required to pass the monster at the pearly gates. "Blessed are those who are poor in spirit - For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven"

Then you have Matt 25: Sheep and Goats Parable which gives a more detailed explanation.

My favorite is at the end of the Sermon on Mount Matt 7 -
Reminds me of so many evangelicals ... the Tim Tebow's of the world "Jesus Jesus" - as if God intervened to help score the touchdown.
Of course when he gets sacked - we don't hear God being blamed.

It is not the hearing of the word- not faith nor belief in Jesus as your personal savior - but putting words into practice that matters to God -
Jesus says pray in a closet so no one will see you.

but finally - the rule that sums up the law and the prophets - The whole shebang - Don't do to others what you don't want done to you. Matt 7:12.

As the good Rabbi Hillel once said (110 BC - 10 AD - very famous if for nothing other than his age ) - when questioned on the most important thing in the Torah -

"That which is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow. That is the whole Torah/ the rest is commentary - now go and learn"

Matt 7:12 "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

So we know Jesus had at least one teacher ;)

    It's also known as HYPOCRISY.

American Evangelical Christians are obviously okay with this SIN.

Personally, I don't think government should exist.

I think religion is one of the most ancient form of government. Both are simply control mechanisms for the general populace over a ruling elite.

That said, if government is to exist, religion should have no part of it. However, government should not be used to persecute the religious either. They should remain separate.

Believe what you will, as I believe that you should have the freedom to worship any god that you like. However, do not think that gives you the right to infringe upon my freedoms. That is when we will have issues.

It has been deep there.....but what do you expect? You are a product of the Public Education system and a agenda driven media, yet there is hope for you.

"If men were angels, we would not need government" I don't remember who originated that....it may have been Washington. He did say "government is only a necessary evil"

And you have no right to infringe upon mine. I will express my beliefs as long as I live as you do yours.
Every human being serves a god, whether you want to acknowledge that or not. You might serve your family, you might serve intellectualism or science, you might serve gambling or alchohol, narcissism or hedonism but the list is extensive and most are invisible. You just don't like them defined. You and the god you serve, has no right to infringe on me.

Oh so you want to compare degrees now? What a bunch of snobbish, elitist, tripe! Oh so how typical. The caricature of a true Progressive! Put it this way, I read an incredible amount and spend an awful lot of time in personal reflection. In fact....I have a lot of degreed friends of mine tell me they can't believe how much I read.

You're the one who posted this:
    So, I ask again...
    1) What "superior" education system do you claim to have had access to that makes your knowledge greater than mine?
    2) And where do you get your information if it's not from the mass media?

If you can't answer this, then go away.

Don't need your definition of "godless". It means without god, period. Anything else is what you seared conscious tells you it is.

I had a public education, like most thru 12th. I discounted everything I learned except reading writing and arithmetic. Beyond that I am self educated as most geniuses.

I suppose you want to share your degrees.....well go ahead. They better be good!!! I bet you have a Masters from Yale in Philosophy with a Doctors from the University of Columbia. That really makes you somethin'. What kind of degree do you suppose Jefferson had? Washington??

Whatever is real for you is real for you and you alone. No one can make another's reality. Maybe you and others need a sky daddy to set rules and guidelines for you while others are not in need of a so called god to get it right and make life's decisions for them. Maybe they evolved to another level of consciousness and a supernatural entity has no place in their lives. The bottom line is that religious belief does not belong in a government which represents everyone. You can pray from today until tomorrow and no one cares but keep it out of government.

Jefferson attended William & Mary college.

Washington as a land surveyor studied math, but didn't have a formal education.

So what is your point? Or have you already gotten sidetracked?

    No evil is necessary.

And if men are so evil, why give a select few so much power?

That was the point- I do not have the right to infringe upon your right to worship what god you'd like. But you can't use government to infringe upon mine either.

Again, you are just peddling in half-truths, and ignoring common sense and context. As early as the 13th century, the church had a near monopoly on all education, science, and literature, within the Monarchy. Many of the members of the church's hierarchy, like Cardinal Richelieu, Mazarin, and Sir Thomas Moore, were senior advisors to the Monarchy. Besides advising monarchs, the Church held direct power in mediaeval society as a landowner, a power-broker, a policy maker, etc. Jacques Benigne Bossuet, preached to Louis XIV, about the divine right of kings, and how the Monarchy is absolute. Even during the Holy Roman Empire, some Arch Bishops were appointed as Electors.

I won't bore you with the history of the role that the church has played in the affairs of State, and science. You can just read it all for yourself. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relations_between_the_Catholic_Church_and_the_state

Whether you want to believe that churches only want to obey the state(are the innocent victims), or that they only want to influence matters of the state, our founding fathers wanted no part of either. Hence, they eagerly promoted religious freedoms, and a complete separation between church and state. Our founding fathers were rationalist, and free thinkers. They did not believe in any religious supernatural clap trap. Our founding fathers framed a Constitution, that put the power back in the hands of the people. NOT, in the hands of Kings, Churches, or even God. America is NOT a Christion Nation. Nor is this belief sponsored or promoted by the state. The state only concerns itself with the material needs and freedoms of its people. What people do in their private lives, is none of my business. What people want to believe in their private lives, is also none of my business. But when these people decide to use what they do and believe in their private lives, to trample over my freedom FROM what they do and believe, then it becomes my business.

So, I don't believe in fairies, aliens, bigfoot, a flat earth, Gods, miracles, invisible interdimensional travellers, an all powerful, all-knowing, and omnipresent anything, in the paranormal, in the power of prayer, Adam and Eve, eternal life, sin, or in Intelligent Design. Especially, since you can't support this nonsense, with just one ounce of objective evidence. So please, keep your fantasy beliefs to yourself, where they belong. Not in my government, in my schools, in my courts, in my face, and taught to my children. Let me live in a world that doesn't pander to my fears, or tries to shame me into obedience through guilt. Just to give old men a fake perception of purpose and self-importance? Is it a part of YOUR tenants to go out and infect others, that do not share your unsupported beliefs? If you are not going to answer my questions, then this discourse is only one-directional.

You have a right to your own opinions, but not your own facts. It would be best that you simply preach to the choir. Because, preaching outside of the choir require facts, not faith.

Neither statement you quoted is correct. And, it was NOT Washington. https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2015/11/if-men-were-angels-no-government-would-be-necessary/ https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/8812-government-even-in-its-best-state-is-but-a-necessary You should really vet what you post first.

I do not go to your church, and tell your preacher to stop lying to the people. I do not tell you to exercise even the tiniest amount of critical thinking, or to question everything. I do not call for all churches to start paying taxes, for lying and deceiving the people, just to enrich themselves. I do not call for the abolishment of all religions, until we can determine, which religion is the right religion. I do not ask for the suppression of religious freedoms/liberties. I do not ask that the indoctrination of small children by religious zealots, be stopped. Even though I wish I could protect their rights.

No, your beliefs are unfortunately protected by the same constitution that you are using against non-believers. It is not non-believers that want to teach Intelligent design to our vulnerable and impressionable minds. It is not non-believers that want open prayers to be allowed in schools, and funded by the government. It is not non-believers that want magic, fairy tales, the supernatural, and 2500 year old stories, to be added to the science curriculum. It is not non-believers that want to add flat earth, creationism, and Intelligent Design, alongside verifiable scientific theories. It is not non-believers that are satisfied with "God did it all", in their search for academic certainty. It is not non-believers that dispel the Theory of Evolution, because it conflicts with their religious version of "Let there be...".

So, please tell me again, just how are your religious freedoms being threatened? I serve no God, and if he existed, I would tell him so. In fact I would have a lot of questions to ask. But then again, He should know the questions.

Service to constructs, addictions, and abstracts? I'm afraid this statement typifies everything that is wrong, when people are indoctrinated by religion. Their once great evolutionary gift of innocent curiosity, becomes the first causality of reason. I think we're done here. The cup is already full.

It is why we have three different branches as well as an Electoral College, It is a balance of power in hopes the goodness in humans will prevail.

With that bigoted statement I'll stop you right there.... Your ideas are void of real history. You have a godless ideology that gives you a tendency to make stuff up.
Suggested reading: "George Washington's Sacred Fire" by Peter Lillback. I could not begin to contain all the quotes in this post of our Nations Father where he assigns the miracles of this Nation to "Providence". We could then proceed to John Adams and what He believed. However, it could also point out the number of theoologians that signed the Declaration of Independence as well as the Constitution. I have enough information with quotes I can counter any "godless theory" you might promote.

Your impression explains your animosity. I do not have a preacher or a Pope that tells me how to think. I read scripture for my self, bathe it in prayer, and watch how it's Truth is performed by my very eyes. That Truth is also examined by millions of other witnesses to that Truth. You just don't like it.

I sincerely hope that you are right, and that all the rest of us controlled by the laws of nature are wrong. Because, it would be a terrible tragedy to waste any human life, on any belief system that is based entirely on faith. But, again, it is none of my business. Good luck.

And that isn't working out so well, is it?

My goodness...belief in government and belief in religion. Like I said, religion is just a more ancient form of government. They are control mechaniams used by the ruling elite to control the masses.

Have you ever stopped to wonder why the word "lie" in in the middle of the word "belief"?

    That was rhetorical.

BTW, you are both correct when it comes to the religiosity of the founders. They were a blend of free-thinkers and various theists. Some believed in the Christian God, but others while they believe in a god of some sort didn't necessarily believe in the Christian God.

But back then, religious indoctrination was a much stronger force as well. If raised in an environment much like today, it may we'll have been different.
