English is a Northern Germanic language. It just happens to have a lot of Latin derived words in its vocabulary.

In the beginning the nation’s motto was E Pluribus Unum, Out of Many, One. It was the Joe McCarthy era lunacy that gave us the In God we Trust lunacy. There are a great deal of Americans who do not trust in the delusions of others.

It was part of the grand experiment that is The United Stated of America. The idea that religion and government be separate. That everyone have the freedom of conscience. To think and believe as one sees fit, unburdened by coercion, as to what to think and believe.

The other big part was the elimination of hereditary rulers, replacing monarchy with democracy. A country where leaders are held accountable to the people.

Without the Declaration....no Constitution.Together they establish the intent of our Union. You just don't like it.

yor really lack the least bit of "understanding". China would be a good place for you I believe. It's not just that you and Sallyally hate Donald Trump....it seems you hate America. It all comes together in your posts and likes. Maybe you should try another place to live. You're never going to get over it. Perhaps you can find happiness elsewhere.

In case you didn’t know, the president is followed wherever he goes. Like Reagan, he never goes to church. And in those cases where he had to go to a church, as part of a state function, such as funerals of VIP’s; he has acted rather out of place. When asked about the Bible, by reporters, he is totally lost.

I rather like both of them, it is just that I also like facts. The Declaration didn't establish a new Union. The Constitution did.

If you can't address people's actual posts and instead insist on lazy strawmen and flights of fantasy propelled by armchair psychology instead of logic and reason, maybe a debate and discussion forum isn't the right place for you.

Moronic post on your part. One can criticize their child’s actions and yet still love them deeply. Same goes for one’s country.

His kid didn't and that is what matters since they keep claiming that this is a Christian nation and not a nation of Judeans.

So now we are going to have the best of sinners leading in the prayers for their invisible deities,,,I still will refuse to pray and I will continue to direct my minor kids to do as such for the sake of freedom.

When I was an adolescent I stumbled upon a Thomas Jefferson shelf at the local library. Along side the many biographies were dozens of volumes of the writings of Thomas Jefferson. He wrote several letters a day. He had invented a device that allowed him to write on two or three pages at a time, allowing him to save a copy of every letter he wrote. Most of the letters have been collected into volumes, that often also contain the letters of those that he received from those he was corresponding with.

Jefferson, like Franklin, Edison, Tesla, Ford and others had been my boyhood heroes, mostly for the technological innovation. Yet I also came to much appreciate the politics of Jefferson, and of Franklin. In Jefferson’s letters, later in life, he would point out; That in all of the founding documents, that there was no reference to a specific deity. But rather they used the most generic words possible, creator and religion, so as not to give a nod to any one sect.

I don’t think that either Franklin or Jefferson believed in a god. Not like a Christian god. But more like a mysterious force that created the seeds of the universe and then just walked away. Both Jefferson and Franklin were behind the creation of Columbia, the goddess who personifies the United States. There was also a famous poem during the Revolutionary War urging on the American cause, with the backing of Lady Columbia, America’s goddess. Early on, the national Anthem was Hail Columbia.

God is not a new term and it they meant to say the Christian god they would have said so. Whichever god or no god at all it would be a proper noun. Then when they created the Constitution to put it in provisions to keep religious faith out of government and government out of religious faith. It amazes me some would want that NOT to be the case.

It took government out of those matters of religious faith. An individual can still pray in a school it they want to. They can't disrupt the school in doing so or have the government officials participate or sanction or use the government resources.

Thank you for enlightening me, now in case you didn't know the statement I replied to is STILL a bitter assumption. Nothing that you've added makes it anymore factual.

To attack Trump on his faith is ridiculous, in the end NONE of us liberal or conservative know Trumps heart when he goes to church or prays so I am not going to argue this point to death. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but that's what it is an opinion.

The declaration has absolutely zero legal weight. The nation that is the United States of America was founded by the constitution.
