You’re dealing with people that think it’s a great idea to get a big refund

So is it your stance that you would have paid less taxes and got a larger refund had your standard deduction and child credits go back to what they were the prior year?

apparently. if the tax reform was never passed my tax liability would not have been as high.

Your refund has nothing to do with how much tax you paid or how "good or bad" you came out. If your accountant told you it does you need a new accountant.

What drove up your tax liability? You made more money and are complaining you have to pay more tax?

Because what you're telling us is not possible. I think you're lying about most of it. Your cousin did your taxes, but all you're basing your entire argument off of is that you got a lesser refund. You're changing your story as we call you out on it.

Jesus, you Trump haters will believe anything as long as it fits your anti-Trump narrative. God forbid you actually get a clue about how your taxes work instead.

Get my CPA? I don’t need a CPA to do my 1040, it’s pretty simple. I paid less in federal taxes , like every other working American

When did you lose track of this thread and this debate, it's about the immediate 2018 consequences of the Trump's tax reform, not long term national debt (to which Obama added more than all presidents prior to him combined, with your explicit support and approval) LOL

Yes, an uber-wealthy $200k a year or more NYC lawyer will be paying higher federal tax - what's notable is that he'll be paying exactly as much as his counterpart working out of Dallas or Orlando or elsewhere in the country have always be paying, he will no longer pay less tax than anyone else in his income bracket does. Fair is fair.

And rahl's family with 2 kids making $125k in NC will immediately get $2,000 tax cut due to the doubling of the child income tax credit. Add to this higher standard deduction and substantially lower rates of each income bracket, his total tax cut for 2018 should be in the ballpark of $2,500 - $3,000, all the rest being equal of course. His inability to substantiate his claims or dispute mine is quite telling, don't you agree?

What specifically in your tax situation caused your tax liability to go up? More income?

The fact that you are having a "CPA" do your return shows how little you know about taxes.

Some states place more significance on property taxes than other states. The ten highest taxed states are blue.

that's not what I'm basing it on. I'm basing it on the fact my tax liability increased this year, per my accountant.

Why did it increase what did he tell you caused a higher tax liability.
