    Another weak empty personal attack.
I suspect you really have little use for McCain beyond this silly attempt to exploit his memory to advance a partisan political agenda in an election cycle.

LOL! You refuse to paste up the description of McCains valor! Incredible - yet you claim that you admire McCain's heroism.

You clearly do not care a whit about McCain's reputation.

Here I will do it for you:

    THE SECRETARY OF THE NAVY
    WASHINGTON D. C. 20350

The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS to

COMMANDER JOHN S. MC CAIN III
    UNITED STATES NAVY

for service as set forth in the following

    CITATION:
For heroism while participating in aerial flight 26 October 1967 in North Vietnam. While attacking the thermal power plant in Hanoi, Commander (then Lieutenant Commander) McCain, despite extremely heavy and accurate antiaircraft fire and more than fifteen surface-to-air missiles in the air, pursued the attack until his aircraft was hit by enemy antiaircraft fire. Although his aircraft was severely damaged, he continued his bomb delivery pass and released his bombs on the target. When his aircraft would not recover from the dive, Commander McCain was forced to eject over the target. By his exceptional courage, superb airmanship, and total devotion to duty, Commander McCain reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United Suites Naval Service.

I asked you to tout the heroism of John McCain and paste up the description of his heroism and you refuse to do that and just post a "link"?
Vegas, you are no Friend of John McCain. I have showed far more respect for his heroism here than you have, and I am not a McCain fan.

The definition of a hero is "a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities".

John McCain suffered major torture while in captivity. Torture which left him with lifelong physical disabilities. Even throughout that torture, he still resisted camp authorities and often did not cooperate. At one point, he reached his breaking point and did participate in a anti-US propaganda confession, but I never judged that too harshly. Every man has their breaking point. However, even after making that "confession", he refused to do any more and even refused to meet with antiwar groups visiting Hanoi.

After his father became Commander of US Forces in Vietnam, he was offered early release.....which he refused on behalf of the other prisoners that had been in captivity longer than him. Basically, he made a self-sacrifice for others. Being the son of the Commander of US Forces in Vietnam, his captivity became World news, which exposed the treatment of allied POWs by North Vietnam forces. Many historians believe that this exposure resulted in more humane treatment of the POWs.

Everybody has their own definition of what a 'hero' is. For me, making self-sacrifices for the benefit of others....especially when every fiber in your body is likely crying to be released from captivity is a textbook definition of a "hero".

You are incorrect. The average American is unwilling to engage in respectful debate with those they disagree with. Trumps opposition is more trump-like than his base.

Keep laughing. You refused to paste up the actual description of McCain's valor. Why? Did you think it would not be politically expedient to do so?

It is amazing what people will cover up for perceived political advantage.

Why did you refuse to paste this up when I asked?

    John Sidney McCain

DATE OF BIRTH: August 29, 1936
    PLACE OF BIRTH:
Coco Solo Naval Air Station, Panama Canal Zone
    HOME OF RECORD:
    Norfolk, Virginia

John McCain, III, represented a third generation of Naval Academy graduates when he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Class of 1958. He was interned as a Prisoner of War in North Vietnam after he was shot down on October 26, 1967, and was held until his release on March 14, 1973. After his retirement from the Navy in 1981 as a Captain, McCain was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Arizona's 1st District and served from January 1983 to January 1987. He was next elected to the U.S. Senate from Arizona and has served in that office since January 1987. He ran for President of the United States in the 2000 and 2008 Presidential Elections.

AWARDS BY DATE OF ACTION: 1 of 8

    Silver Star
    AWARDED FOR ACTIONS
    DURING Vietnam War
    Service: Navy
    Rank: Commander
    Division: Prisoner of War
    GENERAL ORDERS:

    CITATION:
The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Commander John Sidney McCain, III (NSN: 0-624787), United States Navy, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while interned as Prisoner of War in North Vietnam from 27 October to 8 December 1967. Commander McCain's captors, completely ignoring international agreements, subjected Commander McCain to extreme mental and physical cruelties in an attempt to obtain military information and false confessions for propaganda purposes. Through his resistance to those brutalities, he contributed significantly toward the eventual abandonment of harsh treatment by the North Vietnamese, which was attracting international attention. By his determination, courage, resourcefulness, and devotion to duty, Commander McCain reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of Naval Service and the United States Armed Forces.

Yes, the support for Trump is very firm, but qualified, and very aware of his all too human flaws.

As I pointed out early on anyone who volunteers for service in war is IMO, a hero. Anyone who volunteers for combat in war is even more heroic.
McCains heroism rose well beyond that.

    FYI:

Sen. Joe McCarthy was also awarded the DFC.

    So was President G.H. Bush.

During WW ll if you were an officer and accomplished the mission, you were awarded the DFC.
Enlisted men were only awarded the Air Medal.

    The Vietnam War:
    Officers
The Bronze Star aka "Officers Good Conduct Medal."
Just about every officer who served in Vietnam got one.

What you look for on a medal or ribbon is the "V" device.

McCain's DFC was awarded for achievement not for heroism.

None of McCain's awards were for heroism.

Basic difference between the Trump White House and the Obama White House...

Obama White House message - "When they go low, we go high."

Trump White House message - "When they go low, we go lower ...".

And Trump FanBoys wonder why there is so much negative press around this President. He set the tone.

I agree 100% that Trumps continued comments towards McCain are disgusting and vulgar. My biggest dislike is because they are unneeded. They accomplish absolutely nothing. Having our President wage 'war' against a dead guy is not something that I feel is Presidential or good for our country.

With that said, the outrage and support shown towards the comments do not seem sincere. They seem fake and based on political bias. Many of those that seem to feel McCain was a hero when he was running against Obama are now lambasting him. Many of those that were very critical of McCain during that same time are now putting him on a pedestal.

Destroying the legacy of people that many view as a "hero" is not new....and both sides of the political aisle are guilty of this act. For instance, many on the left are attempting to destroy the legacy of John Wayne....a man that wanted to serve his country during a time of war but was unable to do so for numerous reasons. A man that was awarded the Naval Heritage Award, the Congressional Gold Medal, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom (posthumously) for his work for this country. A man that was more than just an actor and had done much good for the country that he loved.

While I certainly dislike Trump's behavior and feel they are way over the top, I also dislike the behavior of those that are displaying this 'war' for political purposes.

    No.

But I have two Navy Commendation medals one with a Combat "V."

But as every Marine knows, this is the only one that means anything.

I know this swift boat naval officer who was awarded the Silver Star for chasing down a young teenager and shooting him in the back.

Yeah that's why your highest medal is a commendation medal with V and he has a silver star.

    Now that is hilarious!

The "V" device does represent exceptionally heroism well beyond the bravery displayed by all who volunteer for and engage in combat.

McCain's most serious short comings appeared after his military service.
