As soon as the Democrats impeach Trump and the senate refuses to remove him, Trump's battle for political survival is over.
How/why does the left refuse to understand there's nothing it can do to force Trump from office?
With no ideas other than "we hate Trump", what will the left run on in 2020?

The left is bitterly clinging to the Russian narrative. It won't work.

Well you make the assumption that they will try to impeach; I don't think so. I think they will do the same thing the Republicans did with Hillary, investigate the bejesus out of him, keep the pressure on him and try to plant negative images in the voters mind.

The first articles of impeachment have already been filed.
Absent impeachment, how do they remove Trump from office?
If they aren't trying to remove Trump from office, how is he in a war for survival?

If you haven't noticed this yet, let me be among the first to point it out to you.

If you watched the trends in right wing posts over the last few months, including this one, it's the Trumpsters who bring up impeachment all the time.

The far left did for a while, but with the change in government they aren't so much.

After the last two years, a lot of people think we will survive the next two, as long as the adults in the room neutralize Trump's worst instincts.

No one in Washington trusts Trump or takes him at his word on anything.

Not the Democrats, and certainly not McConnell.

But the GOP Senate will block conviction.

It has been obvious to many people outside Trumpstrworld that the Democrats were never going to make the same mistake the GOP made in 1998.

They will not impeach Trump without the votes in the Senate to convict.

As usual, the Trumpsters are behind, still thinking that they can go on about impeachment as if it were some desperate gamble or something to stoke their outrage.

But the fake "crisis' over this wall pretty much will determine the tone of the next two years.

Trump isolated himself almost immediately. He betrayed McConnell right away. So he is alone, with the Democrats arrayed against him.

His self imposed isolation gives GOP congresmen in Trump districts political cover. They don't have to say or do anything.

Trump publicly owned the issue. They'll let him have it.

And as long as Trump blunders and blusters on, this will be the status quo.

Washington is now in a position to effectively push Trump aside, and it appears as though they're going to do it.

Trump will wind up taking the deal Pelosi offered him in December 11th. He already took it once, before he scewed McConnell by going back on his word.

Now McConnell is making Trump publicly declare what he will take. And Trump does not have even the Freedom Caucus on his side anymore.

McConnell, Schumer and Pelosi will run the government once this farce is over.

Trump will be neutralized. He will have his usual outlets. He will still tweet nonsense to his knuckle dragging base, and they will cheer. He will declare victory, and his base will cheer. After all, the claim doesn't have to be true. If Trump bellowed it, Trumpsters cheer no matter what.

Why have the Democrats given up on impeachment?

Only an Impeachment Inquiry has been filed by a house member. The Democrats are not going to impeach President Trump unless there is a strong chance of success. They will be content to inquire and release unfavorable information and hope the voters will do the removal in 2020. Much like unfavorable information was piled on Hillary continually until the voters had strong negative feelings about her.In my opinion he is in a war to survive past the next election

Since when have pundits and souvineer peddlers made policy?

I realize that in the cartoon world Trumpsters live in, the two are interchangable in the small minds of the audience, but out here in the real world, your links are meaningless.

As for "giving up" on impeachment, I do not recall the Democratic leadership ever calling for impeachment or offering articles. And they aren't going to do it now.

Unlike Newt Gingrich, they have always know the whip count.

So your rants about Democrats and impeachment are only wishful thinking on your part.

I realize that noise and cartoons confuse the average Trump supporter, and that this group knows next to nothing about how their government works or how power is wielded.

But there will be no impeachment unless Trump's recklessness and/or the revalations of the various investigations make removal a political necessity. But taht will only happen if the GOP is on board

There is another factor weighing against impeachment. Trump himself.

Unlike Dick Nixon, Trump doesn't care when the jig is up. He won't resign for the good of the country.

His will be a scorched earth impeachment, just as his Presidency has been.

Unsurprisingly, you completely avoided the issue put to you.

I will restate my previous opinion: if they do not have a solid chance to impeach (since they are not stupid) they will focus on attacking his credibility and his morality just as the Republicans did to Hillary Clinton so that he has less of a chance of being elected in 2020. His struggle for survival can include his struggle to be re elected.

Why do you keep insisting on repeating the same lame question?????

How many people have to explain to you that Democrats are not going to make the same politicial mistake taht folks like you cheered for in 1998??????

Attacking Trump's credibility is the easiest job on earth!!! First of all, the subject provides a treasure trove of material!

No one takes Trump seriously anymore. So, as long as McConnell and Pelosi have the governemnt well in hand, and we can prevent Trump from starting a war, we don't have to worry too much about him in terms of foreign policy, since the world is already either ignoring the US President or working past him.

This last bit is tragic for us as a world power, but far better than having a petulant little bufoon with a finger on the button.

"Survival" and "re-election" are different things, especially within the context of the article on the OP -- indeed, the implication is that he will have to fight to survive to be re-elected.
Its clear, then you do not believe he has to fight for his survival.

Because you don't meaningfully answer them.

Indeed - and that's a large part of the reason Hillary lost in 2016.

I don't think the Dems need to remove him. My bet is on him removing himself before the American people get that privilege.

Oh, I'll save you the trouble - I know, I know, I'm dreaming. I'm suffering from severe TDS. I'm so full of hate it's simply spewing out of me at this point. I guess you and your stable mind will have to wait along with my unstable one to see how it all ends, won't we?

    I'll take that bet.
He will remain your President until at least January 2021, and there's nothing you can do about it.
