If you can close bowling alleys, restaurants, barber shops, pool halls, to protect the public health you can also close houses of worship.

however you cannot close houses of worship but arbitrarily allow other non-essential establishments to stay open.

Just because Trump says a house of worship is essential, does not make it so. Trump says a lot of really stupid things that we can ignore.

Yeah, they must think people are hug more than on the NYC subways. Only on the subway people can hug you even if they're complete strangers.

If we did not shut down churches there would be more infected and more dead

We had to shut down all establishments where large numbers of people congregate, it does not matter if it was to worship God or to listen to music

One only has to look at the hot spots that have sprung up in churches that opened May 1st.

    Based on what?
No we didn't. Shutting down didn't make any difference.

    Shutting down definitely saved lives

If New York City did not shut down we would have three times as many dead people

As would most other metropolitan areas

    again based on what?

I understand you want to insist on this but I'm skeptical.
show me how you jumps to this conclusion.
according to your crystal ball? I can pull numbers out of my ass too and declare that that's what would happen if...

So you have no idea you just repeating what you've been told.

    How am I not surprised.

Why don't you list all the other countries that didn't shut down but that practice social distancing in quarantine the sick and elderly that happened three times higher death rate.

The CDC can say whatever they want probably saying this to cover their ass.

Sweden did not shut down but they closed all high schools and colleges.

They have 10 times as many more dead than Norway, and Norway did a full shutdown

That's not how arguments work ronstar.

You made a positive claim that if we didn't shut down three times as many people would die.

It is your burden to show evidence, I'm sorry a government organization trying to cover its ass and one outlier country does not equate to evidence of your claim

I doubt your claims my doubt is reasonable I don't have to prove your claim wrong in order for my doubts to be reasonable.

stop shifting the burden of proof because you don't have what it takes to support your argument. That's dishonest and it's a logical fallacy.

They're only in response to your personal attacks.

    So the irony is palpable.

My guess is he will be at HIS church tomorrow, surrounded by overpaid-for golf carts...

    Just like he was today...

    https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/trump-golfs-while-more-americans-190300271.html

Note - I really don't begrudge him playing a round or two of golf (Hypocritical Obama golf tweets notwithstanding), even during this hot mess... Courses are open in Virginia. In fact, I'm playing at the beautiful park golf course next to his fancy-schmancy course on Tuesday...

I DO begrudge him pretending to have a single devout bone(spur) in his body for this opening churches deal...

You don't have to be a medical expert to know things or to find things out.

what you're doing is very common among people who want to be right but don't have anything to back them up outside of whoever they pick is the foremost expert.

It's called gatekeeping. This is a tactic that is almost exclusive in the practice of pushing propaganda.

Which ones do I absolutely trust where I believe everything they do or say is absolute gospel?

None because I'm not a lemming.

Medical institutions are the only source for information.

    You are still gatekeeping.

Quit deflecting with your personal attacks on me.

Your burden is to show evidence for your claim.

I do not have to prove that my doubt is reasonable.
