Of course there is, it's half way around the world but to make your point you have to deduct what you're paying them anyway. In the scenario here it's Mexican troops in Mexico guarding Mexico. That's their job.

 

IOW, you admit the cost is substantial, and Mexico absorbed that cost to defend the US border.

 

Meaning, in an indirect way Mexico paid for our security like Trump said he wanted to accomplish. But frankly, all this talk about 'who pays' is only coming from a mentality wherein the government wastes money. And it's true, this poor excuse of a government does waste money but national security is not one of those wastes.
