There's noting to debate here - the NYT article said exactly what I said it said- and you refuse to believe it.

I kind of thought he kept it as a negotiation item. I'm surprised he didn't offer it in exchange for Joe's drug test results.

It is kept because it lowers perception of his self image, I am not going to go as far and say anything he is doing is illegal (although there are some seriously questionable tactics used) but rather it likely shows he isn’t as rich as he says he is.

A man that inherited his wealth and then squandered it might impact his base... oh, wait... they excused him stealing from students, veterans, small business owners, being a adulterer, a liar, and using his office for personal gain — they will excuse this. I don’t know of his ego would however.

They even said so in the article, they count on them not reading past the headlines.

Not as clever as Trump's manipulation of his "flock".

Suck it up man. You are no longer in the playschool sandbox.

for all those out there thinkng they can deduct their hair cuts like Trump did

"Don't Deduct That Haircut Just Yet: Tax Court Has Rejected Such Claims"

    https://www.npr.org/2020/09/28/9178...t-just-yet-tax-court-has-rejected-such-claims

"The U.S. Tax Court has repeatedly ruled that the costs of maintaining an appealing appearance are not deductible, even for public personalities. In a 2011 case, the court ruled against a television news anchor who wanted to claim deductions for the costs of maintaining her personal appearance."

You can't expect the NY Times to have even a rudimentary knowledge of tax accounting. Even if they do, they don't care.
